ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES The linguistic, academic and cultural skills taught on this course help students achieve their goals and enter their chosen university program with confidence and proficiency.

Cultural Studies

GRE Preparation Elective

Students’ English will improve in all areas, and to ensure full preparation for life at university, we also teach important skills such as how to give presentations, write essays, summarize, critique academic texts and much more.

We teach idiomatic language and cultural issues, which help students become more integrated into university life.

If a GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) score is required, we can prepare students for this exam through an elective which teaches verbal and quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills.

Authentic Environment The classroom environment mirrors that of a university to prepare students for the style of classes they can expect. Students experience the teaching methods and standards they will face at university, while benefiting from the attentiveness and support of a school fully focused on international students.

Targeted Lessons Our lessons are interactive and interesting to ensure students remain highly motivated. Our integrated syllabus familiarizes them with the types of courses, assignments and other academic situations encountered at university.

Our Lessons

Our Academic Team

At EC we follow a communicative approach that develops the four language skills - reading, writing, speaking and listening.

With professors, published authors and cutting edge education technologists, our Central Academic Team continually researches and applies the latest trends in learning science to our curriculum to ensure students make the best progress possible. This team also regularly presents at education conferences around the world.

To give an engaging and relevant framework to learning, each lesson will focus on a specific topic. Teachers select topics that create interest, discussion and debate in the class. As students engage with the language, they also learn about their classmates and different cultures, all within an English context. As well as taking an active part in classroom discussions, students work on language skills in small groups, pairs or individually. As they learn correct pronunciation, increase their vocabulary, work on grammar and improve sentence construction, they become able to express themselves in an accurate and appropriate way.

Our teachers are professional, friendly and passionate about what they do. They are trained to deliver constant support and feedback within a relaxed and informal environment, and their care and encouragement builds confidence in students. Our specialized on-campus staff is available around the clock to offer personal support and guidance in all areas of student learning and the campus experience.
