Drop the kids off on the 21st & 22nd of December to fill up on fun and inspiration in a day devoted to arts & crafts. Each day is full of a variety of drawing, painting, sculpting, writing /storytelling and performing. Bring your nut-free snacks, cold lunches, and indoor shoes. Tuesdays, February 2 to April 13 4pm to 5:30pm $100 Member / $120 Non ‘Off Set Camera Arts Theatre Seekers’ encourages kids to grow their unique inner voice and celebrate differences and the unexpected through improvisational drama, creative movement and movie making. Singing Stars

January 21st to March 4th 4:30pm to 5:30pm $40 Member / $50 Non Develop your child’s voice and confidence as a Singing Star! With a final goal of a fun and energetic recital for friends and family, young singers with reading skills, will learn the fundamentals of vocal expression through singing games and exposure to various genres of music. Weekly exercises/ games consist of vocal warm-ups, breath control, annunciation, pitch, rhythm, and tempo. Each child will be given the opportunity to sing solo or as part of a group. Wednesdays, January 20 to May 26 6-9 yrs: 5:00pm to 6pm*, 10-14 yrs: 6:15pm to 7:15pm* $95 Member / $105 Non The Brown Children's Theatre will inspire an appreciation of all aspects of theatre. This 18 week program will help children develop confidence in public speaking and singing, as they rehearse, design sets and props, prepare costumes, and finally, perform for an audience, an adapted version of the musical Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. *Please note that on the fourth week of classes, children will be divided into two play groups, instead of age groups times may switch. The older children are usually given the larger parts. Final dress rehearsal takes place on May 26. Final Performance: Sat. May 29, 6pm. 18 weeks.

Learn The GOLDEN Acrylic Lecture Demo is a fun, fast paced informative lecture how to use professional techniques like embossing, antiquing, and faux covering a technical review of acrylics and their varied application wood grain, to create a knight's shield, pirate’s treasure chest, or fabric possibilities. The lecture demo will present information on pigments, scroll and an ancient book. Campers create actors masks and miniature viscosities, gels, mediums and more. Learn how acrylics can be used as a sets for well known fairy tales and stories by planning and constructing ground for other media, such as watercolour or coloured pencil. All with foam board, papier mâché and other unusual materials. We will participants will receive free product samples and a literature packet. VISUAL ARTS PASTEL PAINTING
INTERMEDIATE PAINTING
7 Weeks Thurs. January 21 to March 4 7pm to 9:30pm $110 Member / $125 Non This class combines in-class instruction with painting sessions and critique. Instruction will cover topics ranging from colour theory and paint handling to form and composition. Students will work from a subject(s) of their choice. Previously unresolved work or challenging subjects are encouraged. Sunday, January 24 12pm to 5pm $40 Member / $50 Non This one day workshop offers an opportunity to learn the basic techniques of using pastels. You will learn how to work with soft chalk pastels to make your choice of bold and vibrant paintings, or more subdued paintings. From still life arrangements, the student will have an opportunity to explore colour theory, and the layered application of colour. WINTER LANDSCAPES PHOTOGRAPHY Sunday, January 17. 1pm to 4pm. $50 Member / $60 Non Meet at The Elora Centre for the Arts for a discussion regarding the unique challenges of winter photography, exposures & lighting in bright snow, protecting your equipment from the cold, and more. The last half of the workshop will be spent outdoors in a local park. Bring your camera, tripod, extra batteries, hot beverage of your choice (optional) and wear your winter woolies - we will be outside for about 1 ½ hours. We will discuss the principles of photography and cover topics such as types of cameras, camera settings, lenses, ISO, determining exposure & aperture, using filters & accessories, working with composition, lighting, and more. 4 Weeks Wednesday, March 3 to 31 7pm to 9:30pm $125 Member / $135 Non A continuation of the Basic Level course, incorporating a variety of topics that will challenge your imagination and help develop your individual style. We will work with advanced camera settings, including shooting in RAW, fine-tuning exposure, working in black & white, photographing moving subjects and more. Learn about portraiture, macro photography, post-processing and printing your images using specialty papers. Includes a field trip, location & date to be decided in class. FROM CAMERA TO COMPUTER 1 Tuesday, February 23 7:00pm to 9:30pm $45 Member / $55 Non You’ve filled your memory card with great photos…now what? Instructor Sylvia Galbraith will help you learn different ways to upload your photos to your computer, organize files, create backup copies and more. You will learn basic photo editing skills and how to resize your images for e-mail or print. This course is valuable for artists who create digital files for gallery submissions. This course does not require a computer in class.

AL KOOP was a social worker for two decades, and cofounder of a troupe of historical street actors, Older Voices, in 2002. This venture has taken him to the streets of Elora, Fergus and Salem, many schools in the Upper Grand District, as well as, summer camps and festivals around Centre Wellington. EILEEN MACARTHUR completed her Masters in Painting at the University of Guelph and received a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Eileen has had exhibitions in Halifax, Calgary, Toronto, Buffalo N.Y, Chongqing, China and Guelph's MacDonald Stewart Art Centre. Eileen has taught classes at the University of Guelph, the Elora Centre for the Arts and the Guelph School of Art. In 2009 her work was included in the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery biennial, "Some Kind of Wonderful". LESLIE MILES holds a BA in Fine Art from the University of Guelph, Fashion at Ryerson and an Advanced Certificate in Fashon Illustration and Design from St.Martin’s School of Art in England. Leslie has taught drawing and pastels for the City of Guelph, Wellington County Museum and the MacDonald Stewart Art Centre. She has experience in earthenware, Raku and functional stoneware. Combining wheel and hand building techniques is of special interest, and has shared her techniques in workshops for other potters, as well as high school students. Her award winning work has been exhibited in group shows, retail venues and galleries, such as: Elora Fergus Studio Tour, Art in the Yard, Arcadia Community Gallery, The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery and the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art in Toronto. STEPH TOHILL has been teaching creative movement and improvisational youth drama over the past 4 years. She participated in the Ed Video Movie Making 101 course and co-edited a dance film created as a tribute to the compassionate resilience of women in war. Steph is passionate about dance and has performed with Company Karen Rose at the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival Off –Site series. She is a Tree Steward with “Neighbourwoods” and co-facilitates a local self-esteem-sewing group for girls called “The Tutu in You!” BRONTE VINCENT is a bilingual vocalist with experience in various musical genres including Opera, Broadway, and Classical. She is a figure skating coach at the Fergus Skating Club and has plenty of experience teaching children and adults. Bronte is finishing up her final year of high school.
