A large-scale projection work, Feed immerses the viewer in frenetic images of dense crowds of birds. Digital manipulations create kaleidoscopic affects,
made richer by the layers of birdcalls and human voices. The imagery and sound are drawn from a location in Thailand where migratory birds and touristic restaurants are both consuming seafood side by side. This project will transform the Minarovich gallery into a riveting metaphorical space.
Eva McCauley: Solas agus Scáth March 26 – April 26 Reception: Thursday, March 26, 7:30 p.m. Curator: Phil Irish The exhibition’s title (pronounced “Solas aguss Scah”) means “Light and Shadow” in Irish Gaelic. Work for the exhibition draws upon McCauley’s experience at the Cill Rialaig artists residency, County Kerry, on Ireland’s rugged southwestern coastline. In the isolated village, McCauley experienced the dislocation of being in a foreign place, coupled with an intensity of memory. McCauley’s work includes paintings and monotypes. The images explore the illusory and often deceptive qualities of memory in relation to the experience of visiting a foreign place.
