WHO ARE WE AS A COLLECTIVE? A group of illustrators with mutual interests in applying our practices to textiles, homewares, interior design and fashion contexts. COLLETIVE AIM : to generate awareness and fundraise for environmental issues that concern us as a group.
LAUNCHING THE MANGO CLUB • Put on an event in a local space in Leeds • Exhibition of our work, with live music. WHY IS THIS A BENEFICIAL TO US? • To establish and promote ourselves as a collective and individuals. • To network with other like-minded creatives and potential clients.
THE CHARITY • The event will be in aid of the World land Trust. • Representatives will be invited to the event to raise awareness of their work. WHY WE CHOOSE THIS CHARITY? • • •
Focus on saving important habitats across the world. As a charity they already use art as a means to fundraise money. WE LOVE DAVID (founder) à
WHAT WILL BE IN THE EXHIBITION? • A collection of prints and repeat pattern designs inspired by the habitats protected by the ‘World Land Trust’ • We also aim to pitch this collection and event to practitioners and companies that match our interests, with the hope of collaborating with them to produce a series of products to then sell at the event. POTENTIAL PEOPLE TO COLLABORATE WITH? We want to choose people who are local to the Leeds area/the north and ideally are environmentally friendly in their practice. • • • • •

WHERE WILL WE HOLD THE EVENT? We would like to hold the event locally in Leeds, somewhere that is easily accessible, a reasonably large space and has the possibility for live music entertainment – and of course a bar! Places of interest : • Northern Monk Brewery • The Old red bus station • Studio 24 If we were to take this venture further we would investigate these spaces through visiting them and negotiating on pricing with the regards of this being a charity event.
HOW WOULD WE USE THE EVENT SPACE? We want to use the space more as an installation than an exhibition. • Staging the products so people can interact with them. • Creating an atmosphere through decorating the space with plants etc.
FUNDING & FINANCES HOW WOULD WE GENERATE FUNDING FOR THE EVENT? • As a collective personally investing a certain amount money each to cover initial costs. • Applying for sponsorship and grants e.g. Leeds Inspired Council, who help set up art organizations, galleries, art exhibitions. HOW WILL WE FUNDRAISE MONEY THROUGH THE EVENT? • Selling our products – prints, homewares designs etc. • Charging a small entry fee to the general public • Holding a raffle on the opening night/private view to which we would each donate one our designs. FUNDRAISING MONEY FOR THE CHARITY? • Opportunities to donate at the event e.g. donation buckets • A percentage of the profit from the even will be donated to the charity.
HOW WILL WE PROMOTE THE COLLECTIVE AND EVENT? • • • • •
