Vertical City Strategy
Specification: It's an ecological, resilient masterplan for Manmade Eco-island in Hainan, China. It will be a destination prototype for international, cruisebased eco-tourism. The island's eco-design incorporates local and regional consideration by addressing local demands for additional leisure and recreational landscapes, by facing the challenge of the extreme weather condition, and by creating multiple transportation methods, including air train, transit cruise, ferry, and interisland light rail. This Man-made island could be a sustainable city both in good weather and bad weather. And we would like to create a city not only for people to have a leisure during good weather but also during the extreme weather conditions.

Designed to address the changing population demographics of new york city, this tower serves as a land-locked conceptual equivalent to the contemporary cruise ship, offering a hybird of housing and recreation to the city’s increasing number of people. Organized as a large scale mixed-use complex development in downtown Manhattan, the building is divided into a series of multi-functionWal parts with vastly different qualities that will create a comfortable life for elderly residents. The design thus creates opportunities for different types of programs to coexist. The program is different in each vertical section of the structure: residential units on top, entertainment and public areas at the bottom, coming together to form a hybirdized space in the middle. The tower would also provide medical clinics, recreation and fitness facilities, a shopping mall, a museum, theaters, and other amenities, including a hotel for people when family members visit.. Urban Landscape Modern Olympic Park Instructor: Nanako Umemoto Time & Type: 2016.2-5, Academic Work Collaborator: Individual Software: Rhino, Maya, Adobe Creative Suites, V-ray, Keyshot. Concept Specification: The project is an Olympic park in Tokyo with respect to its post-Olympic inhabitation, the afterlife of a short-term event with far-reaching consequences for the city. Forming a compelling notion of what the future Park could be, the proposal will investigate the potentials latent in the adaptation of Olympic programming, confronting the challenge of facilitating a transition from present to future uses in strict architectural terms. The proposal started wth organizing different sports programs to generate a new typology, and then created a megastructure inspired by the natural landscape as a motherboard, hanging up partial sports prorams. After the Olympic games, large sports fields supported by the removable structure would be taken down and replaced with other adaptive programs, such as music concert hall. The left megastructure would also become a structural shelter for people playing relevant activities within it.

TRI-SCAPE Housing Renovation for Reinventing Beijing Courtyards Time & Type: 2016.6-8, Design Competition Collaborator: Yifeng Zhao, Zheng Zhang, Tian You Role: Strategic Thinking, Conceptual Design, 3D Modeling, Partial Final Production Software: AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suites, V-ray, Keyshot Original housing and courtyards Specification: Different from those large formal courtyard houses, the low-rise residential complexes around Baitasi area have undergone a series of informal construction developments. The original enclosure form of a typical courtyard is in certain level lost. To revive the history of the courtyard lifestyle at the same time to renovate the possibility of living for the future hutong-ers, we proposed to stage some cultural scenes by bringing the open courtyards back to the condensed structure of the existing buildings.

Variable Space by Deployable Entrance located on the east side straight from Baitasi, posesses an unique and very recognizable perimeter. In our plan of rennovation, we designed three scenes as [Pay a Visit], [Take a Look] & [Think for a Second] to activate the interaction between the exhibior and the visitors. The alternation between open courtyard and enclosed exhibition space is brought together by a coninuous circulation route that also includes a path to the viewing rooftop.

Instructor: Shaofeng Wu Time & Type: 2012.9-12, Academic Work Collaborator: Nian Liu Role: Team Leader, Conceptual Design, Partial Final Production Softeware: Sketch Up, Rhino, AutoCAD, V-ray, Adobe Suites
Concept
Specification: The site is located in the University City which will be the busiest and most famous central area in the future. It is the transfer zone for ground transportation, especially the bus and the elevated bus rapid transit as well. This project aimed to create a commericial&office mix-use highrise building for this region. It explored two questions on how to think about the relation between the commercial podium and the outdoor ground area and on how to rethink the plan and space of the office tower. After researching the economy population, consumption and comparison with many other cases in China, my proposal was to build up a transit-oriented, mix-use highrise that uplifted the commercial podium and returned the ground to people. Not only does the elevated podium serve as the part of the highrise building, but also the connector that attracted and distributed people coming to this area. For the office tower, not only the is tower space horizontal and connected by elevators, but also it is vertical and is connected by stairs.

The project was about to turn an old arsenal into a library & information center. The new design should not only keep the atmosphere of history of this arsenal but also rethink the library design in terms of plan and space. The proposal was to hightlight the center area of the building at which the open-shelf stacks are located. This area could not only be seemed as the center of vision, but also the center of spirit. Also, the proposal applied passive strategies to this library so as to make it sustainable and Concept details of this project was researched and designed with reference to High-Tech architecture.

Specification: The site is located within Xiamen Garden Expo Area where it needs a sulptural building with geometric figure. To design a symbolic museum in this area, we need to take care of the key elements in surrounding atmosphere as well as creating beautiful sceneries for tourists. I propose to initially manipulate and organize exhibition spaces so that the shape of the museum will come out.
