2022 President’s Award recognizes passion
from Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce - A look back at 2022, a look ahead to 2023
by Echo Press
A new recognition was shared at the Chamber’s Annual Celebration – the President’s Award. The recipient of this award is selected by the Chamber Board President and is someone who best exemplified the Chamber theme for the year.
2022 Chamber Board President Matt Gilbertson’s theme was Catch the Passion. He selected Brenda Thomson, District Executive for the Prairie Fire District of the Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America, as the President’s Award honoree.
Gilbertson stated that Brenda – through her words and actions – always shows considerable passion and enthusiasm for her work with the Boy Scouts. For a recent birthday, she requested that instead of giving her gifts, that her family and friends consider donations to the Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America instead.
Gilbertson noted that Brenda’s passion isn’t confined just to the Boy Scouts, but carries into her other interests as well. As a member of Rotary and the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, she has repeatedly demonstrated passion for both organizations through her participation and positive referrals.

A great of example of Brenda’s spirit is displayed through a recent quote she posted on social media:
One committed person can bring about incredible results if they are willing to take the risk and step out of their comfort zone to do what needs to be done. N. Federico.
