The Responsive Reading
MIN.- This is a message that you have heard from the beginning: that we should love one another.
CONG.- Then let us love one another for love is from God and is of the nature of life, and he who has loved has known God.
MIN.- In the beginning God said, “It is not good for man to be alone, I will make a companion for him.”
CONG.- Therefore, Shall be heard this day the voices of gladness, and of mirth, the voice of the bridegroom ANDRE the voice of the bride CAROL, the voices of those who sing and the joy of those who join the celebration with joy and thanksgiving.
MIN.- Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands as unto the Lord.
CONG.- For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the Church, and he is saviour of the body.
MIN.- Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
CONG.- Husbands love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave himself for it.
MIN.- That he might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.
CONG.- So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.
MIN.- For no man ever yet hated his own flesh but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord the Church.
CONG.- For we are members of His body of His flesh and of His bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
