Hello!

As we swing into the season of holiday hope and cheer, I’d like to take a few minutes to express my heartfelt thanks for all who participated in this incredible winter’s dream of fashion and fundraising. This is my fourth year participating with Relay for Life of Second Life and my first year working with the SL Christmas Expo 2015. Last summer I became a caregiver when my father was diagnosed with a stage 3 cancer. It was a grueling and difficult fall for both of us as he underwent chemotherapy and radiation. I assisted as much as I could from 4,000 miles away. Right before Christmas, we got the news the treatments had worked and he was cancer free!

When Relay Weekend ended in July, I looked forward to the upcoming year with a goal firmly in mind, that of bringing the fashion world and Relay for Life closer together beyond the Fashion 4 Life event. In September I was approached by Nuala Maracas about helping out with the SL Christmas Expo as the lead for Public Relations. At first I was hesitant because this was a big job and I had never taken on a task of that size before, especially with something already established. And so I went to the team at .PENUMBRA. to get their thoughts and we sat down and decided we’d all help out.

And so I enter my second year as a caregiver. As we begin the twelve day celebration of the SL Christmas Expo 2015, it is with an even firmer resolve to help do all we can to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society.

When I sat down in the audience to watch the Winter’s Dream Fashion Show on Sunday, my heart was overflowing with the joy and hope I felt, seeing all of the hard work over these past few months come to fruition. The models looked so beautiful and there were designers there cheering along as I heard so many positive comments from those that attended. We filled the sim! It was incredible, and wonderful, and so very special.

And so as the Expo wraps up and Trouble publishes this amazing Look Book, I just want to say thank you to everyone. To Trouble and .PENUMBRA. for being such an amazing team. To the designers, the models, the production team. To the Relay volunteers and visitors. Thank you for taking part in an event that was and is tremendously significant and important. I look forward to seeing you during this holiday of hope.
