THE ROSARY BIBLIOGRAPHY Rosary Bibliography of English language works by Father Charles Auth, O.P., of the Dominican House of Studies, Washington, D.C., is made possible in printed form through a publishing grant from the Marian library, University of Dayton. The basic data gathering procedure employed in this compilation has been the circulation of mimeographed preliminary checklists to various libraries and religious communities with the request for additions, corrections and records of holdings pertinent to the rosary. The author, as well as the Marian Library, is most anxious that further emendations be offered so that a more permanent and precise listing may take form in the future. While the Marian Library is pleased to aid in the presentation of this Marian research, it does not assume any editorial responsibility for the contents, style or scope of the bibliography. The library under the direction of the Society of Mary (Marianists) merely wishes to serve now, as always, as a center for that research which gives impetus to the spread of knowledge of our lady, the Virgin Mary, and thereby to focus more clearly her role in the life of the Church. Together with the author, the Marian Library recognizes that sections of the draft study are more exhaustive than others. And it is therefore essential to stress that this work is conceived as a study-in-progress rather than as a definitive and comprehensive contribution. The coverage of this bibliography ranges from a fifteenth century manuscript to the publications of 1958. Entries are arranged alphabetically by author, whenever possible, under the various classified headings, as noted in the Table of Contents. The union catalog dimension of the work, whereby location of copies is noted, is not complete. Attention has been focused especially on books, pamphlets, phonorecordings and films. While periodicals centering on a rosarian theme are listed, no attempt is made to indicate individual articles concerned with the rosary in these or other more general examples of periodical literature. A limited edition of five hundred copies is available. $2.50 per copy.
