Learning objectives The goal of the Excellence Programme is to broaden the knowledge of Dutch and International 2
pre-Master, second year, third year and fourth year BSc students in the field of Econometrics & Artificial Intelligence. Besides, students will improve their academic and soft skills. The programme will consist of lectures, workshops, company visits and educational trips. Students will also write several papers, give presentations and participate in a debate.
Within the theme Econometrics & Artificial Intelligence multiple subjects will be discussed. Some subjects that will be discussed are: - Economic Financial Crime - (Im)possibilities of machine learning in the financial sector - Future of Artificial Intelligence - Differences and similarities between Artificial Intelligence and Robotics - How visual recognition revolutionizes marketing intelligence - Artificial Intelligence in risk management - Deep learning - Logistic planning

When a student has completed the Excellence Programme he or she knows how/is able to: 1. Implement econometrics within several fields within the theme Econometrics & Artificial Intelligence. 2. Work individually or with a group on econometric issues within Artificial Intelligence. 3. Give a good presentation and participate in a debate.
A student has passed this course sufficiently if: 1. The student attended more than 80 percent of the activities/lectures. 2. The written papers and presentations are graded sufficient. 3. The student participated actively in the attended activities.

23rd of January 17.00-19.00: Opening Excellence Programme by Wout Bucker and Roel Moradi from APG about “What impact will Artificial Intelligence have on our society and what will be different in 2025?”

31st of January 15.00-17.00: Lecture by Eran Raviv from APG about “Current Artificial Intelligence capabilities and how do we transform data to process it?”.

6th of February 14:00-18:00: Company visit to Google.

12th of February 17.00-19.00: Presentation workshop.

16th of February: Deadline paper 1 (about 3 pages) in couples of two.

23rd of May 13.00-18.00: A boat tour with the self-driving boat.

29th of May 10.00-18.00: Educational trip to the Artificial Intelligence lab and the Robotics lab in Brussels to see some demonstrations of what they do in both labs. One of the topics that will be discussed is the blockchain.

5th of June 17.00-19.00: Debate workshop.

11th of June 17.00-19.00: 10th lecture.

15th of June: Deadline last paper in couples of two.
