GCSE Controlled Assessment… • Final 25% of GCSE grade • Data collection fieldtrip • Taught lessons and supervised research • Maximum 2000 words • Up to 10 hours low controlled write-up (introduction, methodology, front cover and contents page)

• 6 hours high controlled write-up (analysis, conclusions, evaluations)

All work must stay in school. No work from home can be brought in to add to the controlled assessment research.


Dorset fieldtrip… • Lyme Regis, Dorset • Arrive by 7:15am Friday (depart school 7:30am) • Back to school approx. 6pm • Waterproof coat, sensible shoes and clothing • Packed lunch or money to buy food • Essential for controlled assessment • Cameras / camera phones allowed


Data Collection… • Coastal erosion and management • Environmental quality surveys • Pedestrian counts • Evidence of Longshore drift • Effectiveness of beach defenses • Measuring angles of beach facets • Measuring pebbles at four different sites • Group work but individual data records • We will put you into groups
