Welcome to the 239th ECS Meeting
and the 18th International Meeting on Chemical Sensors (IMCS)!
T
he Electrochemical Society (ECS) Board of Directors and International Meeting on Chemical Sensors (IMCS) Organizing Committee are honored to have you join us for this event.
Though unfortunately we still can’t meet in person, we are very excited about the experience available to participants through this digital meeting. Check the online program to take full advantage of all the opportunities lined up for this joint meeting: • Attend ECS and IMCS live meeting-wide special events, including plenary talks, panels, and networking events. • Participate in twice-daily live topical sessions where presenters, participants, and organizers gather to discuss the latest research in their respective symposia. • View digital presentation files (video, and/or slide deck or poster) for the majority of the 2,000+ meeting abstracts. • Engage with presenters via a question and answer/comment field on every presentation webpage. • Communicate with meeting authors and other participants using a built-in peer-topeer messaging tool. Of course, one of the best parts of in-person meetings is the exhibit hall and the many companies assisting and encouraging the advancement of electrochemical and solid state science and technology. While we can’t meet face to face, we have brought these companies to you here! Please take time to browse through this Digital Exhibit and Vendor (DEV) Guide, and see what they have to offer. You never know when it might be the key to advancing your own research!

Electrochemical Systems
This book is a cornerstone in understanding a wide range of systems and topics in electrochemistry, and it is noted by reviewers of the third edition as being vital to the community of interest. The book results in a comprehensive coverage of electrochemical theories as they pertain to the understanding of electrochemical systems. It describes the foundations of thermodynamics; chemical kinetics; and transport phenomena including the electrical potential and charged species. This book also shows how to apply electrochemical principles to systems analysis and mathematical modeling. Using these tools, the reader will be able to model mathematically any system of interest and realize quantitative descriptions of the processes involved.
Fourth Edition
John Newman Nitash P. Balsara
The latest edition updates chapters, adds content on lithium battery electrolyte characterization and polymer electrolytes, and includes a new chapter on impedance spectroscopy.
“… useful to anyone involved in the practice of electrochemistry…highly recommended.”
(CHOICE, November 2004)
“...a solid, well-rounded discussion of the principal aspects of electrochemistry and is well suited for use as a graduate-level textbook.”
