Clock Project Design a timepiece using a standard clock mechanism

Time is a linear process as explained by the theory of Entropy*. Traditional clocks display time within a reapeating cycle. This timepiece unravels a roll of string, creating linear movement. This creates a inventive, tangible link with time. * 2nd Law of Thermodynamics: The Universe goes from Ordered to Disordered

The clock enables tactile interaction with the linear passage of time.

Clock Project

This linear method of displaying time can be applied in many ways. Here I have illustrated a possible application, which creates an original method to measure time. Task

Length of Time

Why should we time our everyday tasks in 15, 20, 30 minute segments? Are these measurments tailored to the task at hand? What if the length of an object represented a measurement of time?

Step 1. Cut string, mark where it finishes

| Step 2. Mark length of object used in task

| Step 3. Begin task

| Step 4. Once string has traveled past bottom mark, finish task
