Module Title

END OF MODULE SELF-EVALUATION NAME Eddie Cooper 1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them? One of the main skills that I have developed in the module is my use of print, because it was the last change to utilise all the recourses available at uni, I tried to experiment with as many print processes as possible, before doing this module my screen printing skills were terrible, however I managed to get the technique down during this module and pretty much get flawless results every time. Which should set me up nicely for when I get into the real world. Also type setting, during this module I have produced a wide range of publications to help fully develop my type and layout skills ready for industry. Software skills: because my aim for the codebreaker brief was to push the boundaries of the design software I have managed to find a whole range of new tools and tricks allowing me to create unique artwork, also shortcuts on software programmes, due to my extensive research into the programmes my a range of new techniques have been found to help produce artwork a lot faster than previously. Time management, this is probably the first hand in in the 3 years that I have actually been prepared for, all boards were printed 3 days ago, blog is up to date, and I have kept on track of my work load throughout the whole module, which I feel has definitely had a great effect on the designs that I have created. With each brief from this module being my strongest work yet.

2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process? I have found that design sketches don始t really work for me, I much prefer just experimenting on screen rather than on paper, moving things about on illustrator until you start to see something nice developing seems to be a lot more of an effective way of working for me, as this is how I worked during the whole module. Also I am a lot more aware of printing, basing a piece of design around the stock I wish it to be printed on rather than designing on screen and then printing everything the same on the same paper. I have learnt that you could make the nicest possible piece of art on screen but without considering the stock before printing it will loose all potential.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these? I feel that my main strength in my work would be my overall software skills, by building up my knowledge of illustrator for the past several years and coming from an illustrative back ground it has aloud me to create some really interesting pieces of work this module. Colour, one of the things I have noticed throughout this module is that my colour choices for each brief has really aloud the design work I have been working on stand out. Layout, my layout skills have also improved massively over

the past year from being a strictly illustrative based design to becoming completely comfortable and capable of working with type I will capitalise on these strengths by continuing to develop my software skills to allow me to keep producing these strange outcomes.

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas: (please indicate using an 驶x始) 5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor 1
