“We’re very proud of our entire team who saw the vision of Tesoro Viejo so many years ago. The first trees were planted a decade before the first roads went in. This community is unlike any other. It’s 1,600 acres of the most walkable, wide-open spaces with parks, recreational amenities and miles of trails. It’s a small town feel, where home owners can walk their children to school along tree-lined streets and where weekends are celebrated at resort-style pools, festivals and concerts.”

As the idiom goes, “The third time is the charm.” That was indeed the case with dinner at the 2024 Luxury Awards. Guests attending the Central Valley’s most luxurious night of the year dined on a prefixed menu—designed by Sierra Coast Catering—with a choice of three main dishes for the third course. Between the beef, fish, and vegetarian options was a saucy common denominator. Here, you will find recipes for each of the sauces featured that evening.

3 CUPS CREAM
1½ CUP DRY WHITE WINE
¾ CUP GRATED PARMESAN CHEESE
3 TBS. UNSALTED BUTTER
1 TBS. GROUND NUTMEG BLACK PEPPER GARLIC SALT
INSTRUCTIONS
Set a saucepan to medium heat and melt the butter. Add the dry white wine and reduce slightly. Stir in the cream. Add the nutmeg and a pinch of black pepper. Sprinkle in enough garlic salt to cover the top of the mixture. Set the heat to a gentle simmer, and allow the mixture to reduce by a third, stirring occasionally. Once reduced, remove from heat. Finally, stir in the grated parmesan cheese. To expand the sauce, you can always add a bit of pasta water to the mixture.

Set a saucepan to medium heat and melt three tablespoons of the butter. Finely mince the shallot and add it, as well as the thyme, to the melted butter. Let the shallot soften and become fragrant before adding the blackberry jam, stirring until it’s melted and thoroughly mixed. Next, stir in the dry red wine and beef stock. Set the heat to a gentle simmer, and let the mixture reduce by half, stirring occasionally. Once reduced, remove from heat. At this point, the sauce may be strained to smoothen it or left alone to retain the texture provided by the shallot and thyme. Whisk in the remaining tablespoon of butter. Season with white pepper and salt to taste. The sauce may be served either warm or at room temperature.

Each year, the CVLUX Magazine aims to outdo itself, and the annual 2024 Luxury Awards certainly lived up to that expectation. In its eleventh year now, the most luxurious night of the year was brimming with beautiful people, exquisite décor, and flowers galore, not to mention a superb menu and a slew of stunning craft cocktails. This is the night that recognizes all the Central Valley’s favorites. If you weren’t there, this LUX life Issue will teleport you to an Italian garden in the heart of Downtown Fresno. Benvenuti in giardino!
This was the second year the Luxury Awards descended at The Grand 1401, one of Fresno’s most cherished historical landmarks. The divine original architecture of the first-floor ballroom seamlessly integrated with the party’s Italian theme. Ceiling-high carved columns, intricate banisters, and marble floors formed an exquisite backdrop for the added ornamentation. Fern green velvet and airy white drapes surrounded said interior and hung to the floor, puddling with effortless elegance. Uplighting against them dosed the room in subtle color
Upon valet entry off Fulton Street, guests turned the corner and strolled beside boxwood hedges along Tuolumne Street to the entrance, where the building’s door is flanked by imposing antique lanterns. Two step-and-repeat backdrops offered attendees more than one opportunity for official photo ops and interviews for this year’s live stream, a first for the Luxury Awards. It could be seen on social media in real-time and later show glimpses of the event in the recap video.
Hand-passed signature cocktails and champagne greeted guests. Once inside, the first of three bars was immediately to the right. A second was centrally located, near the dance floor, opposite the stage. Upstairs, another bar was perfectly positioned to serve those on the mezzanine. Specialty cocktails are always a staple at the Awards, but this year, the bar had six to choose from. The White Linen, North East Girls, Montecito Punch, Dazzling David, and Black Walnut Old Fashioned offered gin, vodka, tequila, and bourdon options throughout the night, while Espresso Martinis were reserved for the After Party.
No Luxury Awards is complete without fantastic florals. Gorgeous green foliage served as bouquet bases and echoed the hedges outside. Shiny leaves of all shapes, sizes, and growth patterns hung in harmony with three arrangement styles: elevated large globes, petite low vases, and nestled within crystal candelabras. Salmon and pale pink petals added just a touch of springtime color. All the florals were designed by Judy Gentile of beloved Fresno florist Lou Gentile’s Flower Basket and were especially enduring given that this was Judy’s last Luxury Awards before retirement this year.
Also on the tables were alternating linens. More fern green velvet, as well as checker pin-tucked and plain ecru satin tablecloths, each made up a third of the tablescape toppers. Matching velvet and satin napkins offset the color scheme, which served as the foundation for glistening silverware and a trio of crystal glasses. Mirrored tabletops made the settings subtly shine, as did votive and tiered white pillar candles in simple cylindrical glass hurricane vases. White plates rimmed with silver foil were an elegant and unfussy base to display the colorful food presented.
The menu consisted of a three-course meal. Out first was a Fig & Goat Cheese Salad consisting of mixed baby greens, fresh figs, and goat cheese, dressed in champagne vinaigrette and topped with house-made croutons. For the second course, guests chose between the Filet Mignon (served with whipped potatoes, charred asparagus, blackberry bordelaise, and tarragon vinaigrette-dressed mustard frisée), Pan-Seared Salmon (atop zesty romesco, grilled squash, roasted fingerling potatoes, honey glazed rainbow carrots, and tarragon vinaigrette-dressed mustard frisée), and Vegetarian Bucatini (in a parmesan cream sauce with asparagus, leeks, crouton crumble, pan-seared trumpet mushroom, and charred Meyer lemon). For dessert, a Lemon Tart wowed the crowd.
All the women on stage were stunning, as always. Emcee Margot Kim of ABC30 hosted the 2024 Luxury Awards. She was assisted by the current local Miss American organization titleholders, which included Miss Clovis Gabriella Ramirez; Miss City of Fresno, Amy Bishop; and Miss Fresno County, Olivia Harden. These damsels escorted the winners to and from the stage during the dinner show and then directed them to the Winner’s Circle, following acceptance speeches, for official photos. DJ Diko maintained the lively mood all night, from the moment guests walked into The Grand 1401 until the After Party finally wrapped up near midnight.
The Luxury Awards may be only one night of the year, but it takes an entire calendar cycle to bring this luxurious evening to life. Nominations were submitted in July 2023. Only the top five in 42 categories made it to this year’s ballot. Voting began in September 2023 and closed in December 2023. Each email address was allowed to vote once, and all emails were authenticated at the end of the voting period. The winners were announced at the 2024 Luxury Awards in March. In 2025, the Awards will return to its original winter weekend date in January. Keep an eye out for further details on what is sure to be another stellar soirée then!
Thank you for attending the 2024 Luxury Awards! It wouldn’t have been the success it was without you. Our deepest appreciation goes out to each and every person who supported us—for buying tables and tickets, for being a sponsor, and for gracing us with your presence.
We look forward to celebrating with you again on January 10th, 2025!

March 21st to April 19th
Physical potency is at an all-time high, and you are firing on all pistons. Mars, Aries’ ruler, sparks creative drive that fuels the mix during the April eclipse, supplementing you with clarity and focus while adding a sense of purpose. Cultivate persistence when enthusiasm on new projects dies down and boredom sets in. Another aid is to stay grounded and engage in relaxation practices along with activities that calm your passionate spirit, such as walking meditations, martial arts, and fiery crafts such as jewelry, metalwork, or glassblowing.
April 20th to May 20th
Major inconveniences are caused by a blend of challenges and demands. Embody hard work and the invigorating energy that becomes available later this month for potential benefits and possibilities.
May 21st to June 21st
Thinking fast on your feet moves plans forward. But with Mercury retrograde, conflicts with people add to frustrations. To avoid communication problems, slow down and practice patience when listening to others.
June 22nd to July 22nd
A surge of vitality highlights an active social or public life. When difficulties arise, retreat to a safe space and self-nurture. Things flow easier when you follow your own natural rhythms and moods.
July 23rd to August 22nd
Embark on adventures that encapsulate others with your vision and optimism. If obstacles arise along the way, pivot and adjust the objective. Being in unknown territory shows resilience and fortitude.
November 22nd to December 21st
August 23rd to September 22nd
Ambitious goals run into unexpected outcomes needing revisions. Efforts directed towards what is working restore and re-establish ideas. Careful planning and preparation offer flawless action steps.
September 23rd to October 23rd
Your surroundings are having a big impact on energy reserves. Being drained and depleted calls for adjustments and overcoming procrastination. Find a harmonious space to ground and center yourself.
October 24th to November 21st
If stumbling blocks are along the way, alter your course to change direction. Revisiting the past can be a guide. Stay flexible and adapt to circumstances so as to channel better results into the future.
Contributing practically toward important causes inspires others to bloom with you. These relationships offer broader visions and dreams of what is possible. Lucrative opportunities are at hand.
December 22nd to January 19th
Personal pursuits are at the forefront. Embrace all you have accomplished and achieved thus far. If you’ve outgrown resources or things, declutter and rid yourself of them to make room for what’s next.
January 20th to February 18th
Fresh perspectives originate from past friends and acquaintances. Apply your experiences, knowledge, and inventiveness into sustainable products. Teach these ideas of form and function to the public.
February 19th to March 20th
Actively engage with cleaning out areas of the home or psyche. This will alleviate annoyances. It is easier to be of service and inspire people when you take care of yourself. And that’s a win-win for all.
As the Central Valley’s premier local home builder known for “Building Value for Generations,” Bonadelle Neighborhoods has built over 10,000 homes since 1945.
The tradition began when a young John Bonadelle, Sr. built his first Fresno neighborhood near Manchester Center for first-time home buyers — many of whom were soldiers returning from World War II. Today, John Bonadelle and his family continue his father’s tradition and have created a legacy of offering custom quality homes with luxurious features, superb craftsmanship and exceptional attention to detail that go into each home they build.
Generations of Bonadelle family members have strived to offer homes that families can be proud of for generations to come.
A home built by Bonadelle Neighborhoods is a place where families thrive, traditions are made, and homeowners are excited to say, “Home Sweet Home.”
