Close to everything, not everyone.
The Preserve at Millerton Lake first began with an unbreakable commitment to take 2,100 acres of the most pristine land bordering Millerton Lake and protect over half of it to remain untouched. Then, instead of cramming as many homes onto flattened ground as we could, we let the terrain’s features inspire our neighborhoods’ design.
This is a guard gated community unlike any other, built around the ideals of 100% sustainability — including an ample supply of fresh water — with innovation and vision found in every feature. And unlike other communities that claim to be ‘at the lake,’ we’re as close to its shores as you can get. Spectacular new homes are now being built by our first builder

timeless TRADITIONS Editorial Director Lauren Barisic Photographer Ellie Koleen Hair Ashley Beckenhauer Makeup Kristen Flores
N
icole Eachus loves Christmas for several reasons. “But all the family time, traditions, and festive parties are at the very top of that list,” she professes. “Christmas fills me with feelings of nostalgia. Memories of the Christmas seasons during my childhood are so clearly ingrained in my mind. And now, being a mom to three little ones, I just hope I can fill their hearts and minds with all the tradition, love, and Christmas magic that I got to experience growing up.” Nicole is very keen to teach her children the core purpose of this celebration—to celebrate “the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ; an opportunity to look back at all His teachings, His blessings, and His promise to us; a time at the end of the year to spend with those we love, traditions, festive parties, gift giving, and the magic of Santa Claus.” In the Eachus household, this holiday magic begins to reveal itself not long after Halloween. “I’m all for giving Thanksgiving it’s moment, but also, after Thanksgiving, there’re only four weeks until Christmas—that’s four weeks to transform my home, get all our traditions in, and enjoy them,” Nicole chuckles. “So, since we don’t host Thanksgiving, I recently started decorating about two weeks after Halloween. Then we get our fresh Christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. We keep it up until usually the night before New Year’s Eve or soon after the New Year, depending on how many after-Christmas festivities we have.” A fresh tree is a must for Nicole and her family. “We all love going to the tree farm and picking out our tree.” Christmastime and all its traditions were a pivotal part of Nicole’s upbringing. “This goes back to my childhood home. I grew up in a little country home and my mom transformed it into truly a winter wonderland,” she recalls. “Every arch, every doorway, every bed had garland draped on it. In our bedrooms, we had our own Christmas trees; even our bedsheets were Christmas-themed. You name it, our home felt like a Hallmark Christmas movie! So there’s no doubt that a huge inspiration for how I want my home to feel during Christmas is my childhood home.” Nicole captures the Christmas spirit by following the traditions that she saw growing up with her own children. “My kids and I make the best gingerbread man cookie recipe together. We also love to go on a festive Christmas trip, big or small.” Traveling is one of Nicole’s favorite things to do. During the holidays, she and her family always go on a trip to celebrate the season. “Last year was our second time doing New York—there’s just nothing like Christmas in the city,” she marvels. “We hope to get to Germany and the Christmas markets there one day.” The family’s “travel tree” stands as a beautiful memento of past trips. “We have a ‘travel tree’ in our dining room, which we fill up with ornaments from places we’ve traveled to; so that collection continues to grow,” Nicole explains. Yet, as much as she enjoys travel, home is where her heart is during this time of the year. “My holiday aesthetic,” Nicole reveals, “is traditional, cozy, and has lots of intentional and meaningful details. … I want whoever walks into my home to feel like it’s a warm hug, and find it welcoming.”
T
his mother of three is mindful to not mess with a good thing. “I love the feeling of home and tradition for Christmas, so I don’t change it much year after year. I always drape my hallways and doorways in garland,” Nicole exemplifies. “One thing I do change each year is my color pallet—I change the color of the ribbon on both trees, which makes them look unique every year. I switch back and forth between a flocked and non-flocked tree.” When it comes to such refurbishing, Nicole puts a lot of effort into selecting a unique wrapping paper. “I’ve always been very intentional about my wrapping paper; I find new and unique places around the world to order it from. I keep the colors to my chosen palette. This helps create a cohesive look throughout our home—a little touch that I notice really elevates and finishes off my Christmas décor.” The Eachus’ joint family Christmas party showcases their holiday home at its finest. “Our Thanksgiving and Christmas season is filled to the brim with traditions and gatherings; but one of my favorites, which my husband and I have been doing since before we were married (11 years now), is our joint family Christmas party. We invite both our families over to our home, which is all decked in whatever Christmas theme we choose
for the year,” shares Nicole. “We have a nice dinner, festive cocktails, games, a ‘best-dressed’ competition, and a surprise visit from either Santa himself or, as we did last year (my favorite yet), the Grinch. It’s one of my favorite nights of the whole year—everyone is in the best festive mood and we just have so much fun. I have no doubt it’ll be a core memory of my kids’ and their cousins’ childhood.” With her young family, Nicole is on a mission to try “to do all the things, create all the memories, live in the moment, while getting all the ‘Instagram-worthy’ pictures that we can look back on, year after year.” Her days may be messy, “but goodness they’re sweet, tantrums and all,” she concedes, noting that the kiddos simply grow too fast. “I guess if I had to give one bit of advice about the holidays, it’d be to just enjoy them—put your phone down for a bit and look around at all the good in your life; lower your expectations and enjoy your blessings. Comparison is the thief of joy—you might not have the newest designer Christmas décor that you wanted or the sold-out ribbon for your tree, but the simple moments with those we love, that cup of your favorite holiday coffee while Christmas shopping, watching a Christmas movie with your kids—those are the memories that fill the season with real sweetness.”

for the Holidays
955 EAST HOLLAND AVENUE, FRESNO, CA 93704 Built in 1974 | Single Family Home | Single Level | 7,188 square feet | 0.82 acre lot | 5 Bedrooms | 7 Bathrooms | 5-Car Garage
EVC Homes, LLC is the mind behind a sprawling masterpiece in Fresno’s Old Fig Garden neighborhood that could be yours this holiday season. This luxurious dream home sits on a lot that is just under an acre. Newly and totally renovated, this contemporary yet traditional ranch style house checks all the boxes and then some. TWO WINGS, ONE HOME The expansive footprint of this home allows its inhabitants to enjoy distinguished areas that fluidly come together to form what will inevitably be your forever home. Two wings are bridged by a large family room, which has a fireplace and overlooks the massive front yard. The eastern wing is ideally suited to accommodate guests, teens, or in-laws given the inclusion of several bedrooms and bathrooms, one of which even contains a dog spa bathing area! One of three laundry rooms is here, adding to the hyper functionality of the space. In the primary suite, the grandest elements are designed with a couple in mind. Here you will find his and hers walk-in closets, showers, and vanities, plus a soaking tub. Another laundry room is nestled within this vicinity. The western wing then features an isolated guest room, the third laundry room, and a game room complete with a bar area. This home is truly designed to be the gathering point for every impromptu get-together, special occasion, and holiday celebration.
STUNNING DETAILS INSIDE & OUT Smooth textured walls throughout the interior make for a sleek, modern look that beautifully compliments this historic Fresno neighborhood and allows the original, spacious layout of this Leo Wilson home to truly shine. Its exterior has been lovingly attended to with fresh paint, plus the addition of multiple new HVAC units and three tankless water heaters with recert lines, which means all inhabitants—no matter how many guests are present—will always have instant and continuous hot water. Behind the attached garage is an additional room that’s perfectly suited for use as a gym, office, or storage. Contemporary landscaping lets viewers take in luscious manicured lawns surrounded by new fencing. A gunite pool has been installed in-ground and is completely surrounded by newly poured concrete, which extends all around the house’s outdoor porches, patios, and driveway. Speaking of swimming, you’ll never have to worry about wet little feet running inside during the kids’ swim parties because there’s a half bath located outside off of the pool area.

AN ENVY-INDUCING KITCHEN Whether you’re a professional chef or amateur cook, this kitchen will make your jaw drop. Two nine-foot islands run down the center, and the one located on the far end has designated space for counter seating, letting onlookers be part of the kitchen activity without being in the way. There are tons of envy-inducing appliances in this kitchen: a large professional refrigerator with a water line, double dishwashers, a built-in cappuccino machine, loads of storage, a 60-inch eight-burner gas range, an ice maker, and a hidden walk-in pantry. A temperature-controlled glass wine room sits just off the kitchen, as does a dining room with a fully equipped butler serving area with a mini-refrigerator, two-drawer dishwasher, and microwave. Additional features of the kitchen include built-in trash/recycling spots, a butler’s pantry, pots and pan drawers, quartz countertops, self-closing cabinet doors and drawers, and a utility sink. ROOM TO GATHER & GROW Over two dozen rooms are arranged to make this house the home of your dreams. This single-level dwelling has no interior steps, an entry slope of less than one foot, low-pile carpet, 36+ inch-wide halls, and swing-in doors, making wheelchair access a breeze, all while embodying the open-concept floorplan in areas where families can really appreciate this modern building style. With five bedrooms, seven baths, and lots of closets, there’s plenty of room to gather with friends and grow your family. And three laundry rooms make it easy to keep up! A wine room overlooks the great room with a custom-designed wood wall, a huge raised
hearth granite fireplace, a 24-foot moving glass wall that provides awesome views of the rear yard, and a hidden safe room/panic room. For the fitness guru, there’s a dance studio and exercise room. Just for fun, for both kids and adults, there’s a game room and workshop.
AN OUTDOOR OASIS Whatever the weather may be, you’ll always enjoy being at home in this abode. Numerous covered patios and porch areas—made of newly poured concrete—make outdoor living easy in both the front and back yards. A built-in, covered barbecue lets you take advantage of the option to cook outside any day of the year. Speaking of built-ins, there’s also a generously proportioned fire pit in the back yard. The property features simplistic landscaping, which is beautifully lush as-is. But if you’re the gardening type, a sprinkler and drip system as well as watering timers will make adding to this landscaping design easy to do. Wood and wrought iron fencing surround the lot, which is 35,760 square feet and level with the street. Plus, coming home should never involve any parking headache given that the property includes both attached and detached garages with room for five cars total inside. The three-car garage has direct access to the main house. The two-car garage is in back. But when you do need more space to park, there’s gated RV access and room for six more cars along the concrete driveway. With the holiday season upon us, imagine the thrill of opening the doors of your dream home to welcome in friends and family.

VERY MERRY
Contino CHRISTMAS Editorial Director Lauren Barisic Photographer Ellie Koleen Hair Ashley Beckenhauer Makeup Kristen Flores
—41— DEC
W —43— DEC
When stepping across the threshold of Amber Contino’s home in North Fresno, one cannot help but instantly feel how special this place is. Double-curved staircases welcome visitors through French doors and usher all into the living room with soaring ceilings and expansive windows overlooking a beautifully manicured backyard and rolling foothills beyond. Warm, textural whites with crisp black accents throughout the interior serve as a clean canvas for exuberant living, not to mention some of the most exquisite holiday home décor in the Central Valley. Amber’s taste is superb. Her home beautifully blends functionality with flair, while revealing her masterful ability to seamlessly integrate season décor throughout every room.
I
t’s easy to see that Christmas holds a special place in Amber’s heart and home. “This time of year, there is always just so much magic,” she enthuses. “With three kids, it’s just a beautiful time to create all these amazing moments for them! I love creating a home environment filled with Christmas joy, and transforming our home for the season makes us all so happy to wake up to something so magical every day.” Amber’s holiday preparations begin in November with the help of her decorator, Danielle DePrima. “She comes every year and creates our magical 12-foot Christmas tree for us,” Amber shares. “I do the rest, from the garland all over the house, the wreaths, Christmas candles in every room, and little Christmassy touches everywhere!” All of her decorations stay up from November to January. The Contino home is very “rustic-modern,” as she calls it. “We have a white, black, and gold theme,” Amber adds. “Keeping the house simpler, I wanted the Christmas tree to be the main focal point. It is over-the-top and glamorous, only keeping the color the same as our house. However, the rest of our Christmas décor is very minimalistic and understated.” She draws heavily on Restoration Hardware for inspiration, which she blends together with pieces she sees from designers online. “I never love a whole look, but I’ll take small parts and add them to my décor. Everything I buy, I alter—I don’t keep anything the same way I bought it! I’m always cutting off ribbon and adding black velvet ribbon, painting something gold, or layering things together to create a whole different look.” Amber loves to make things her own.
Thus, Amber’s holiday esthetic is a reflection of her personality, priorities, and values. “Our holiday style reflects the style of our house first and foremost!” she explains. Her children are her world. Amber and her husband love to spend time with them, and as beautiful as their home is, it serves their family’s needs above all else. “We add a second Christmas tree in our playroom for all our children’s special ornaments they either create or pick out each year. They get to decorate the tree and buy all the goods for it, so I try to keep that special for them,” shares Amber. “Other than that, the whole house matches our home aesthetic. I absolutely love black, but that’s a color I try to keep little of in our décor, which is really hard for me!”
C
hristmas wasn’t always so white and lightly colored in Amber’s world. “Our home is fairly new and our last home was very traditional, so our Christmas style evolved from rich reds and bright golds to soft whites and muted golds,” she confides. “I like to go over-the-top with everything, so finding my balance between simple and extravagant was tough, but I think I finally nailed it.” A select few touches beautifully exemplify this esthetic, such as “80 pounds of cedar garland zip tied together to make a larger-than-life garland that drapes down our fireplace. I feel like I love Christmas so much I’ll never stop adding and changing things—each year I find new décor I fall in love with and find a way to incorporate it into our home. No two years will ever look the same around here!”
B
ut you can definitely rely on seeing two very special guests when entering the Continos’ front door. Amber’s gigantic mama and baby polar bears in her entryway always elicit a response. “Every single person who walks through our front door either dies laughing or wants to take a picture with them. They are the most realistic-looking things I’ve ever seen, and it’s just so fun! My husband about killed me when they were delivered but ended up absolutely loving them. Our kids named them Polly and Paul.” The pair stands upon a bed of faux snow and can’t help but bring a smile to your face no matter how many times you pass them by. Amber didn’t have a huge family growing up, so her Christmas Day is always larger-than-life and welcoming to everyone. “The more the merrier!” she enthusiastically professes. “Our home is always open to friends and family and it’s just grown so much over the years. Every year I try and top the year before! Last year, we made the most insane cioppino in a pot so big that I could literally fit myself and a prime rib that was bigger than half my body in it! No one ever goes home empty-handed or with an empty belly.” She spends months seeking out the most perfect, thoughtful gifts for her friends and family. “I’m always trying to make this day special for everyone. That’s where I find most of my joy comes from—seeing all of the happiness that is a result of the things that I have created.” For Amber, the holidays mean family above all else. “It’s a time when we are surrounded by all of our family, and we get to do so many activities with the kids. From visiting Santa to driving down Christmas Tree Lane or everyone gathering around the Christmas tree, sipping hot cocoa and building gingerbread houses. The holidays give us so many more opportunities to spend quality family time together and create core memories.” She and her husband are big on tradition. “Christmas Tree Lane is one of those traditions. Even though I went every year as a child, it never gets old. It’s still so fun and nostalgic to go see. We also love baking and decorating cookies, no matter how huge the mess is.” However, she admits, “Waking up at the crack of dawn all in matching pajamas and opening presents is probably our favorite tradition. I hope that when my children are grown, they will continue to do it with their children.” Amber’s extraordinary ability to make everyone and even the little things feel special is a gift in and of itself that can be felt beyond the holiday season.

LEGACY Editorial Director Lauren Barisic Photographer Ellie Koleen Hair Ashley Beckenhauer Makeup Kristen Flores
F
our generations of Cettis have been celebrating the Christmas season at the place Sandy Cetti calls home in Fresno. “Brian (my hubs),” Sandy explains, “grew up in the home that was previously on this lot, which was originally built in 1969. After Brian’s parents, Carlo and Jeri, were gone, it was left to us.” The couple tried to figure out how to remodel the home, but what actually ensued was a major renovation. “August 29th, 2012, the house was demoed in eight hours leaving just one wall standing,” she recounts. “We had our plans ready to go and were on a fast pace to rebuild. We are not new to the building industry and were able to complete the home and move in June 13th, 2013.” It was important to them, however, to hold on to some remembrances of the previous home to keep memories alive and preserve family history. It was an exciting project for the Cettis, who were thrilled to be in the neighborhood. “Keeping family close is important, and I’m lucky that my mom lives nearby on the next street north of us and our kids, Alexandra and Christian, live less than 2 miles away We have family dinner every Sunday together. The neighborhood still has some original owners who knew the Cettis and we are proud to continue the Cetti legacy.” Sandy and Brian took their wedding pictures there in 1979; many Christmases and other holidays were spent at that place with Brian’s parents and family; their kids learned to swim in the same pool. “Our grandson, Paxton, is now the fourth generation to be a part of this home!” Sandy beams. The couple knew they wanted a very open concept for the rebuild, so as to facilitate a sense of being together and involved with everyone when they entertain. Christmas is the season of togetherness, and their home is the embodiment of just that. “Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of the year,” admits Sandy. “The spirit of the holidays and their meaning is most important to me, and since my favorite season is winter, it makes me love it even more! My Christian beliefs make this season an important time in my faith.” Faith and family are at her core. “The holidays have always been important to me because of the traditions that my family has and the special memories we share. My adult kids know the importance of this time and I have made it a tradition to keep doing some of the same things but adding something new as the years go by.” In 2022, “we brought back the Advent calendar to let Paxton be in charge of the countdown until Christmas,” Sandy shares of her young grandson. Yet she confesses, “I love using my Poinsettia dinnerware that I’ve had for 20 years…that I don’t want to change!” That being said, “I LOVE change…keeping things different is my style,” says Sandy of how her holiday décor evolves annually. “It may be similar from year to year, but NEVER the same! I love to add a little bit of funkiness to my decorations to make it fun…keep the laughter and joy flowing!” This past year, Sandy’s funky, fluffy chicken in the kitchen got dressed up for Christmas. “I’ve also added a bunch of red cardinals to my décor in 2022.” Sandy likes a variety of styles but lends to a more contemporary aesthetic with a bit of whimsy and a sprinkle of traditional in her decorations. “My Christmas tree décor changes from year to year…I use many of the same decorations I have, but in a different way or on a different tree…keep it fresh!”
S
andy derives inspiration for her holiday décor from everywhere. “I may see something on social media that sparks my creativity or walk by a store where I find a specific decoration that reminds me to look into my stash to recreate it with my own flair.” Her holiday aesthetic is a reflection of her style, personality, and values. “If it makes me smile, or someone else smile, then it reflects me! Being happy at home and sharing that happiness with others is how I enjoy life!” In the spirit of holiday togetherness, Sandy has a group of friends who get together each year and trade off hosting a nice dinner, where they treat each other with little gifts. “The most important part of it is ensuring we spend the time together and keep it going…those memories are what I want to hold on to.” It all starts with decorating. “Decorating will always be my first task of the holidays…I love the lights and the beauty of all the decorations because they bring a sense of joy and delight to our home, neighborhood, our life, and I love sharing this with my family and friends,” gushes Sandy. “Decorations begin with ideas during the year, and the actual decorating will begin in November.” She and Brian split the task at hand. “My husband loves the outdoor lights, so he starts there, and I start inside with the tree and adding a touch of Christmas to each room. We leave the lights up until New Year’s. The indoor decorations start coming down around December 27th, as I’m ready for my house to be back to normal. I enjoy a clean slate indoors for New Year’s Eve!” Then, the next cycle of inspiration for decoration begins again!
