Monday 10th June 2019 Please see our PTFA Facebook Page Contact school: sch.164@educ.somerset.gov.uk Website: https://stbenedictsjuniorschoolglastonbury.org/ Quote of the week: “All children must learn wisdom and tolerance. These are like the two wings of a bird: if one wing is broken, the bird cannot fly.” Geshi Wangchen

Pupils and staff of St. Benedict’s enjoyed a rare treat last week as they visited Chalice Well to meet some very special guests – The Tashi Lhunpo monks of Tibet. As well as relishing the opportunity to learn about the monks and their mesmerising sand mandalas, the children also learnt more about ways to improve their wellbeing, with sessions about mindfulness. In addition to this, there were visits to school from Michael Ormiston, who delivered a Tibetan singing bowls session to each year group, and an esteemed visitor in the form of Geshi Wangchen, a close friend of the Dalai Lama, who not only enjoyed a tour of St. Benedict’s, but blessed our new wellbeing space – a truly special moment! Parents also got involved as a number of you signed up for the Mindfulness sessions on Friday afternoon. Our thanks to Natasha and David and their Chalice Well team for allowing us to be a part of the week.
