A Message from the Treasurer of St John’s: Since my election as Treasurer earlier this year I am beginning to settle into my new role. I am also beginning to realize the enormity of the task in managing the finances of a Grade I Listed building such as ours. Our current budget to cover the running costs of St John’s for 2018 is £126,000 (equating to £345 per day). Figures which I find quite eye-watering. The fact that the bulk of this money is raised within the Parish is down to the weekly giving of the members of our congregation; to those who have signed up under our regular giving scheme; to a number of generous benefactors and to our indefatigable team of fund raisers who organize the various fund raising events throughout the year. Without the generosity of all these groups who give of their time and money our beautiful church would not be financially viable and could close. With a decision pending later this year from the Heritage Lottery Fund over our request for funding to re-order the church, 2019 could prove to be a challenging, but exciting, year as we endeavour to Secure the Future of St John’s for the generations to come. With your continued support we will achieve this. My sincere thanks to you all. Arthur Way Saturday 27th October 2018, 12-2pm: Ploughman's Lunch at the Methodist church hall to raise funds for Christian Aid. All Welcome! A list of names will be displayed in each church, please add names of those who you would like to be remembered.
