Collect Heavenly Father, whose blessed Son was revealed to destroy the works of the devil and to make us the children of God and heirs of eternal life: grant that we, having this hope, may purify ourselves even as he is pure; that when he shall appear in power and great glory we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. Bible Readings for today: Heb.10:11-14[15-18], 19-25; Mark 13:1-8

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILIES IN YOUR PRAYERS:

WARNINGS, WATCHING, WAITING AND WONDER! Throughout life, many people give us warnings! They warn us not to go somewhere or not to do something, some of those warnings are said for our own physical safety (don’t touch, it’s hot), others are said to prevent us being hurt emotionally. As we receive warnings, we have to discern if the warnings are from, and of, God or not. As we hear those warnings, we have to be watchful of those people who try to deceive us and threaten our relationship with God. In Mark 13, Jesus warned the disciples of this very thing, saying that times of trouble were ahead and to be alert for those who would seek to threaten their relationship with God. He told them that they would experience many difficult things – many obstacles to their happiness and wellbeing, but he said to them, “…don’t be troubled” (13:7). He reminded them not to be troubled by bad news and obstacles. He instead encouraged them to wait and to be optimistic. As we wait for God’s plan to reveal itself in all its fullness, enjoy the wonder of God, remembering that God is God.
