Collect O Lord Jesus Christ, who at your first coming sent your messenger to prepare your way before you: grant that the ministers and stewards of your mysteries may likewise so prepare and make ready your way by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, that at your second coming to judge the world we may be found an acceptable people in your sight; for you are alive and reign with the Father In the unity of the Holy Spirit one God, now and for ever. Amen. Bible Readings for today: Phil.4:4-7; Luke 3:7-18

HEALING: We are very, very grateful to the many people over the years who have been involved in the Prayer Ministry at St John’s. They will now be taking a Sabbatical but PLEASE if anyone requires prayer &/or healing, please do not hesitate to contact either the Vicar or anyone else in the Clergy Team. Vicar A BIG THANK YOU to all who suffer the cold, the darkness but also the Joy of welcoming people into our church, and continue to do so whilst we have the wonderful Tree Festival. From the beginning of January, Jessie Henderson and her team will be taking a short break. This is a wonderful example of Mission in our Church and we look forward to “welcoming” them back at the end of 2019! A special thank you to Jessie! Vicar Benefice Christmas ‘Open Office’ Party: EVERYONE is invited to join David and Sharon for an ‘open office’ Christmas party at the Bay Tree Café on Friday 21st December, between 10am-12noon. There will be mulled wine and mince pies! Please RSVP to Sharon if you’re coming. Thank you! Prayer Vigil & Carols ON Friday 21st December at Glastonbury Market Cross followed by Carols 12.30-1pm. Please join us! Churches Together in Glastonbury Carol Service ON Saturday 22nd December at 4pm, in St Margaret’s Chapel. There will be mince pies and mulled wine, all welcome, free entry! Holding on to the Silence is a simple daily office with an invitation for everyone within the Benefice to join in during the week, as and when they can. The Daily Office prayer cards and readings can offer us a way of praying together and of making a priority of reconnecting with and listening to, the 'still small voice within'. The office can be said at any one of four times during the day :- 8.30am, 12noon, 5.45pm & 9pm. The idea is that by joining in praying the office at any of those times on any day, you will not be praying alone, but will be united in prayer with others in the community. You are warmly invited to participate! Foodbank: We are in need of more tinned and dried food especially meat, fruit, rice, sponge puddings, vegetables, coffee, tea, pasta sauce and cereals. You can also donate money. Thank you. Jessie Henderson
