Being a Choir Member... The absence of the choir this morning typifies our peripatetic duties this year which, whilst being partly a consequence of having to ‘play away’, have also given us additional opportunities to be invited to provide the best standard of choral services, today in Bath Abbey, but recently in Glastonbury Abbey and Edington Church, and regularly in Wells Cathedral and the benefice, and we find this stimulating and indeed thrive on it. Navigating a secure way through this heavy programme of services requires commitment, versatility, and a significant level of musical discipline. Fortunately we are blessed with a nucleus of experienced singers that have supported the choir for many years and a small coterie of younger singers. If there is to be any secure hope for the future of our unique Anglican choral tradition, however, our choir will need an influx of new singers….. James Hobson
