GETTING STARTED AT EDGE HILL UNIVERSITY

Welcome from the Vice-Chancellor Welcome to Edge Hill University. I am delighted that you have chosen to study with us.

Edge Hill University is, at the moment, one of the most popular and successful institutions in the country. We are one of just a few universities in England that saw its applications rise in 2012 - by 7.0% - despite a national drop of 8.9%. This places us among the top four universities in England for increased applications and is a clear indication of our excellent reputation as an excellent place to study.

Edge Hill students are some of the most satisfied in the country. They consistently rate us highly in the annual National Student Survey, currently ranking us in the top two universities in England for Personal Development, second only to Oxford University. Similarly, students placed Edge Hill in the UK top 10 for ‘Courses and Lecturers’ on the Whatuni.com website. These are successes of which we are, quite rightly, very proud, particularly as the recognition came from our own students.

Dr John Cater Vice-Chancellor

Edge Hill is a University that cares about your career. Over 92% of our students are in work or further study within six months of graduation, which exceeds the national average. Not only will your course and tutors teach you the skills you need to start a successful career, but our award-winning Careers Centre team are on hand to help you find part time work, placements or undertake some volunteering to supplement your studies. We will help you make your CV the best it can be by the time you graduate.

In 2011, we received a place on the shortlist for Times Higher UK University of the Year – the third time in five years. The award is one of the most prestigious in Higher Education and is further testament of our success and profile among our peers.

I hope that your time here will be one of the most stimulating, exciting and above all, happiest periods in your life. We are here to support and guide you throughout your degree – we will do whatever we can to help.

On behalf of the staff here at Edge Hill University, I wish you every success for the future.
