Welcome to the Department of Natural, Geographical & Applied Sciences The Department of Natural, Geographical and Applied Sciences looks forward to welcoming all students beginning a degree course in Geography, Environmental Science, Geology or Biology in September. The staff wish all students a rewarding and successful year; we hope you will benefit from and enjoy the opportunities of learning and developing your knowledge and skills presented by our various programmes. Our staff and students are highly motivated individuals with a strong belief in the relevance of higher education to today’s social, economic and environmental problems, and I hope you will share this commitment as you progress through your course. We pride ourselves on being a ‘student friendly’ Department with excellent, informal working relationships between staff and students, and I feel sure that you will feel ‘at home’. Whether you are attending lectures, seminars, tutorials or practical classes, or taking part in one of our many field trips, I hope that you will appreciate our approach, and above all, ENJOY yourself!
