Welcome from the Dean Edge Hill University has been building up its research environment over the last few years, making significant investments in staff, facilities and student support. We now offer a broad portfolio of Masters programmes and there is a fast-growing community of full-time PhD students as well as a smaller number of part-time students.

We do hope that you enjoy the postgraduate experience at Edge Hill. If you need advice, guidance or information, talk to the staff. They are there to help you settle in and they will be happy to listen.

Enrolment You are required to complete the University enrolment process. This process will: -

-

ensure that we are holding correct personal information enable you to confirm that you agree to abide by Edge Hill University’s rules and regulations provide you with your ‘Unicard’ – your University ID card activate your University account (enabling access to the Library and essential IT resources)

When do I enrol? The main enrolment session for Faculty of Arts and Sciences Postgraduate students is Monday, 16th September 2013 in the Wilson Centre (to find out your enrolment time please see your department information at the back of this document) with the exception of MSc Conservation Management who will be enrolling at 11.30 am on Tuesday 2nd October 2013 in the Business School Foyer.

You must attend your designated enrolment session. If for good reason you will miss your session you must contact the Enrolment Team: E: enrolment@edgehill.ac.uk T: 01695 657600

I have outstanding conditions on my offer If there are any outstanding conditions associated with your offer of a place (such as references) you will be able to provisionally enrol and you should attend your enrolment session and any induction activities. Please note that you are expected to meet outstanding conditions promptly and will be withdrawn if these are not satisfied. What ID do I need to bring to enrolment? Identification (ID) The enrolment process should take no longer than one hour to complete; you must bring with you ONE form of Identification (ID) from the following: Nationality UK EEA1 and Switzerland Non-EEA

International Student ID The University is required by law to check, verify and retain copies of this documentation in student files as part of its immigration sponsorship duties. Please note that even if you have provided these documents during the application process you must still provide them at enrolment. This policy will be strictly adhered to – you will not be able to enrol if you do not provide all the required documentation.

The University will monitor students with a time limit on their visa. At enrolment students must provide evidence of their current visa status, where the visa is due to expire within 3 months of the start of the course, students must provide evidence of their ongoing application to UKBA.

Travelling to your Enrolment Session For information on how to travel to Edge Hill University, our Campus Map and driving directions, please visit edgehill.ac.uk/location.

If you need to come to your enrolment session by car, a ‘Temporary Parking Permit’ is available with this booklet. You must display this on your dashboard as you enter the campus via the main entrance and hand it in to one of our parking attendants. You will be directed to the nearest available space, if any are available. We must emphasise that we are not in a position to guarantee that parking spaces will be available.

Tuition Fees and Finance Postgraduate students are not entitled to apply for tuition fee or maintenance loans or grants from Student Finance towards their tuition fees or living costs.

Tuition fees need to be paid by 16 October 2013. If you fail to meet this deadline you may not be allowed to continue with your programme.

Instalments and Recurring Card Payments To request payment of your tuition fees by instalments, you must complete and sign the ‘University Payment Contract’ form. You will also be required to set up an instalment plan via recurring card payments, using your debit or credit card. You should arrange for funds to be available to cover the first and subsequent card payments. Sponsored Students If you are sponsored by an employer for part of, or the full tuition fee, you must provide the following information at enrolment: -

-

A letter from your sponsor to confirm that they agree to sponsor you; this must be on letter headed paper and state the name and address where the invoice needs to be sent. It should also list your name, student number and the amount of fees they are paying; A company purchase order number.

Please note that you will still remain personally responsible for payment of tuition fees, even if there is an arrangement for payment to be made on your behalf from a sponsor. If they fail to pay you will be required to pay yourself. Fee Reduction for Edge Hill Graduates Edge Hill graduates enrolling on eligible programmes may benefit from a 20% reduction in their tuition fees, visit: edgehill.ac.uk/postgraduate/fees/reducedfees for more information. Travel and Car Parking Rail From Liverpool Central to Ormskirk station on Merseyrail’s Northern Line or Preston to Ormskirk station on Northern rail. National Rail Enquiries: 08457 484950 www.nationalrail.co.uk Air

There are two airports servicing the Ormskirk area: Liverpool Airport 0871 521 8484 www.liverpoolairport.com Manchester Airport 0871 271 0711 www.manchesterairport.co.uk

Road Via the M6 North and South, junction 26, then onto the M58, junction 3, taking the A570 towards Southport and Ormskirk. The campus can also be reached from Preston or Liverpool via the A59. Satellite Navigation address: 53.558622,-2.875178. Using our postcode in your sat nav may result in directions to our back entrance which is only open at certain times. If you wish to use the postcode it is L39 4QP but please check that the route brings you via St Helens Road.

The University operates the ‘Edge Link’ bus service between the campus and Ormskirk bus station (a pathway from the bus station leads directly to the train station) every 15 minutes throughout the day, 8.05 am to 20.45 pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays and 8.05 am to 17.45 pm Saturday. The service is free on production of your ‘Unicard’ for each journey.

Travelling to your Teaching Sessions Parking is limited at Edge Hill University and only available to parking permit holders. Eligibility criteria applies for all parking permit applications and full details are available in our Car Parking Policy at: edgehill.ac.uk/sustainability/travel.

If you are a student coming to study at Edge Hill for the first time, you will need to formally enroll on your course and receive your student number before you can apply for your official permit. Prior to your enrolment day, you will be supplied with a temporary parking permit to allow you access to the campus to complete your enrolment. Following enrolment you will be directed to apply for your parking permit online. If you are eligible, a blue student parking permit will be provided which will allow you to park in the Blue Zone i.e. the main car park. Other car parks are reserved for staff and visitors.
