ENHANCING THE EDGEWOOD EXPERIENCE 2021/2022

WHY we FUNDRAISE in addition to charging TUITION For 140 years, Edgewood has remained committed to providing the community with an affordable option for families seeking an exceptional high school experience centered on academic, spiritual, and personal development. Edgewood has not charged tuition equal to the cost the school incurs to educate each student and maintains a substantial need-based financial aid program. This results in a financial “gap” that requires Edgewood to raise more than $1 million annually to support the school’s general operating needs. As a private Catholic high school sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, Edgewood receives no federal, state or diocesan financial support. Our financial ability to meet the changing needs of our student body rests entirely on a combination of tuition and fees; income from outside business agreements; and the charitable support of our current families, alumni, parents of alumni and friends of EHS. Throughout Edgewood’s history, our students have benefited from the work of a gifted and dedicated faculty and staff. We have been fortunate to partner with families who take an active role in the education and formation of their children. We have also been blessed to receive both the financial and volunteer support needed for enduring and meaningful success. This brochure provides a summary of the fundraising initiatives that Edgewood undertakes to provide the most meaningful, values-based high school experience possible. With numerous options, we hope you find a way to support Edgewood High School in a way that works best for you. We strive for 100% participation as this helps to secure grants from foundations and other organizations to enhance our offerings. Every gift matters, no matter the size.

FUNDRAISING for the PRESENT and FUTURE WHY YOUR GIFT to the CRUSADER FUND MATTERS. The Crusader Fund helps subsidize every Edgewood student and provides additional need-based financial aid for families who are unable to afford an Edgewood education. We rely on the support of our community to bridge the $2,500 gap between tuition and the actual cost to educate each student. Your donation helps us enhance the Edgewood experience for all students.

ANNUAL COST TO EDUCATE AN EHS STUDENT: $15,000

YOUR DONATION: $2,500

TUITION & FEES: $12,500

WHY YOUR GIFT to the ENDOWMENT MATTERS. Since the 1970s, donations to the Sr. Kathleen O’Connell Endowment have allowed the high school to combine gifts from multiple donors into a single account. This money is invested for the purpose of ensuring the school’s future financial security and guaranteeing that an Edgewood education will be available for generations to come.

WHY YOUR GIFT to the CAPITAL CAMPAIGN MATTERS. Capital campaign gifts help to address the important enhancements in our school that allow us to build on tradition, create an improved learning environment for our outstanding students and strengthen Edgewood High School’s competitive position for the future.

TOGETHER we’re BUILDING our COMMUNITY for LIFE Events Edgewood is a community. Events offer the opportunity to support a great cause, meet new people and see old friends.

Crusader Kickoff and EAA Raffle To kick off the school year with an opportunity for parents to mix and meet, the Edgewood Athletic Association (EAA) sponsors a gathering for all Edgewood parents, alumni and friends. The raffle drawing ($100 per ticket) is held and offers a chance to win a variety of prizes, including $10,000. Proceeds from the event benefit the athletic program.

E Club The E Club helps fund the long-range needs of Edgewood High School athletics. Proceeds donated to the E Club are used to address specific projects/needs of the athletic programs and/or facilities. The E Club holds an annual spring event, generally with a distinguished guest speaker, to update members on how funds have been used and to attract new members. Annual membership in E Club is $1,000 or $10,000 lifetime.

Encore Edgewood has outstanding, award-winning programs in the arts, from theatre and music to writing and visual art. Like the athletic program, these offerings for students have special needs for equipment, facilities and consumable goods. Encore has a dedicated mission of providing support for the arts. Annual membership in Encore is $1,000 or $10,000 lifetime.

E.J. Wilke Golf Outing For over 20 years, the EHS Athletic Department has hosted this event. The golf outing honors beloved Earl J. Wilke, a former faculty member and coach with longtime ties to the school. Individual, group and hole sponsorships are available, as are other sponsor opportunities.

Homecoming Week Come home to Edgewood this September! This week includes the annual Edgewood in the Community Service Day along with the Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, football game and other events and activities.

Leadership Circle Recognition Event Donors contributing $2,000 and over last year will be welcomed and thanked at this exclusive event.
