WHY we FUNDRAISE in addition to charging TUITION For over 140 years, Edgewood has remained committed to providing the community with an affordable option for families seeking an exceptional high school experience focused on academic, spiritual, and personal development. This results in a financial “gap” that requires us to raise more than $1 million annually to support the school’s general operating needs. • Edgewood has not charged tuition equal to the cost the school incurs to educate each student. • Edgewood receives no federal, state or diocesan financial support. • Edgewood maintains a substantial need-based financial aid program providing assistance to over 40% of our students. Our financial ability to meet the changing needs of our student body rests entirely on a combination of tuition and fees; income from outside business agreements; grants from foundations; sponsorship from the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa; and the charitable support of our current families, alumni, parents of alumni and friends of EHS. This brochure provides a summary of the fundraising initiatives that Edgewood undertakes to provide the most meaningful, values-based high school experience possible. With numerous options, we hope you find a way to support Edgewood High School in a manner that works best for you. We strive for 100% participation as this helps to secure grants from foundations and other organizations to enhance our offerings. Every gift matters, no matter the size.

FUNDRAISING for the PRESENT and FUTURE WHY YOUR GIFT MATTERS The Crusader Fund subsidizes every student’s Edgewood education by bridging the $2,500 gap between tuition and the actual cost to educate each student. The Mazzuchelli Fund provides additional need-based financial aid for families who are otherwise unable to afford an Edgewood education. The Endowment Fund ensures Edgewood’s future financial security and guarantees an Edgewood education by combining gifts from multiple donors into a single account that is invested. The Capital Campaign helps to improve the facilities that enhance the Edgewood experience and strengthen Edgewood’s competitive position for the future.

TOGETHER we’re BUILDING our COMMUNITY for LIFE — EVENTS — Edgewood is a community. Events offer the opportunity to support a great cause, meet new people and see old friends. Crusader Community Kickoff and Raffle - To kick off the school year, we host a gathering that offers an opportunity for all Edgewood parents, alumni and friends to mix and meet. A raffle drawing ($100 per ticket) is held and offers a chance to win a variety of prizes, including a $10,000 grand prize. Edgewood in the Community Service Day - Every fall during Homecoming week, our entire student body, faculty and staff come together to volunteer more than 4,000 hours in service to our surrounding community. Leadership Circle Recognition Event - Donors who contributed $2,500 and more last year will be welcomed and thanked at this exclusive recognition event. E Club - The E Club helps fund the long-range needs of Edgewood High School athletics. Proceeds donated to the E Club are used to address specific projects and needs of the athletic programs and/or facilities. The E Club holds an annual event, generally with a distinguished guest speaker, to update members on how funds have been used and to attract new members. Annual membership in E Club is $1,000 or $10,000 lifetime. Encore - Edgewood has outstanding, award-winning programs in the arts, from theatre and music to writing and visual art. Like the athletic program, these offerings for students have special needs for equipment, facilities and consumable goods. Encore has a dedicated mission of providing support for the arts. Annual membership in Encore is $1,000 or $10,000 lifetime. E.J. Wilke Golf Outing - For over 30 years, the EHS Athletic Department has hosted this event. The golf outing honors Earl J. Wilke, former faculty member and coach with longtime ties to the school. Individual, group and hole sponsorships are available, as are other sponsor opportunities. Giving Day - For 24 hours our community unites for an online fundraising event to celebrate and support EHS. Alumni Hall Grand Opening - To celebrate our newly renovated commons, thank our community and raise funds for the Mazzuchelli fund, we will host an event in the newly renovated space.

— APPEALS — Throughout the year, our Edgewood community will receive written appeals asking for support. Examples of our appeals include year-end solicitation and the athletic season ticket mailing.

— SALES AND MEMBERSHIPS — Holiday Poinsettia Sale - The Edgewood Athletic Association sells poinsettias for the Christmas season. Poinsettias can be purchased online or by returning a form to the Athletic Office or any Athletic Association board member. The poinsettias also make great corporate holiday gifts. Plants are usually delivered by the first week in December. Alumni Association Lifetime Memberships - Become a lifetime Crusader! Alumni memberships are available for all EHS graduates for just $250 and discounted to $100 for graduating seniors. For included benefits, please see our website. E Club Memberships - Support Athletics by becoming a lifetime member for $10,000 or annual member for $1,000. Encore Memberships - Support Fine Arts with a lifetime membership of $10,000 or annual membership of $1,000.

— TYPES OF GIVING — Crusader Fund - The Edgewood Crusader Fund is our most important annual giving priority. Your donation supports the immediate needs of our school, enhancing the Edgewood experience for all students. It supports all programs including academics, athletics, fine arts, student services and a wide variety of co-curricular activities. Mazzuchelli Grant - Contributions to the Mazzuchelli Grant Fund provide tuition assistance for over 40 percent of our families each year. Endowment Giving - Gifts to the Sr. Kathleen O’Connell Endowment are paramount to the future financial security of our school and are invested in a portfolio overseen by a committee of financial professionals appointed by the high school. Restricted Endowment, Student Aid - Contributions to this fund allow us to make an Edgewood education more accessible to area families. Gifts of a minimum of $10,000 can be used to start a named tuition grant and recognize someone who has been influential in your life. Campaign Giving - Support the efforts to enhance the physical environment where our students learn and live out our Sinsinawa Dominican values as we meet the current and future needs for innovation, collaboration, access and security. Memorial Giving - Donations to the school in memory of a deceased loved one can be designated to the area you wish to support. Planned Giving - Include Edgewood High School in your estate plan and become a member of the Heritage Society. Planned Giving (remembering Edgewood in your will or naming the school as a beneficiary of an insurance policy) is a way to support Edgewood with a larger gift.
