MEDICAL MARIJUANA FARMER’S MARKET IN LOS ANGELES Special update:
BY B. LE GRAND EDITOR-IN-CHIEF The new medical marijuana farmer’s market was the ”talk of the town” July 4th weekend in Los Angeles. The marked was named the California Heritage Market, and is located in Boyle Heights. This type of market stems from an existing model in the state of Washington, although it is a rather new concept to California. It’s main purpose is to bring growers and edible vendors together without the dispensary overhead. Cutting out the “middle-man” allows vendors to offer their medicine at better prices, some items near wholesale pricing. Additionally, it allows the producers to meet and directly educate their end patient users openly with easy access to producers, and growers not available in small shops with retail inventory. Close to 7,000 patients came through the market over the 4th of July three day opening weekend. Attendees, and customers included the press, law enforcement and undercover Federal agents. Things slowed down exponentialy the second weekend with only a few hundred patients attending due to a glitch in the advertising making it unclear that the market was scheduled to take place every single weekend thereafter. Former market event coordinator“ Paizley Bradbury commented, “Our goal is not to have long lines, we want the patients to be able to have easy access to the medicine.” The weekend after the grand opening Los Angeles City Attorney, Mike Feuer, filed an emergency injunction for a temporary restraining order on the marketplace, and on July 15th, an LA County Superior court judge agreed to temporarily halt operations of the marketplace. Feuer, said that the marketplace doesn’t comply with city laws for medical marijuana dispensaries. Locally, residents in LA are awaiting the enforcement of a plan to shut down over 800 dispensaries. In November 2013, Proposition D was passed by voters which basically stated that only existing shops open prior to 2007 with “Pre-ICO” (Pre Interim Collective) status, could continue to operate legally. The zoning requirements for collectives slightly changed as well, which could mean that less than 135 of the original 180 shops in Los Angeles are going to stay open. Currently in the Greater Los Angeles Area there are over 2,000 collectives in existence, including delivery services. A budget was just passed with the LAPD to fund
the raids, making it a scary scenario for patients looking for safe access to medicine. Feuer contends that Proposition D doesn’t allow for multiple, independent vendors, to sell in one place. But Proposition D was not written with the intent to cover events like these. In a Los Angeles Times interview Feuer states, “The court was very clear: There could be no multiple vendors selling at this site, only bona fide employees.” An attorney representing Progressive Horizon Collective said, “A farmers market is no different from a dispensary in that they both sell goods from a variety of vendors.” Stories from marketplace attendees went around quickly about how Federal agents were harassing vendors, trying to get them to meet outside of the marketplace, and trying to get patients to give them their medicine while walking back to their cars. I recall stern, almost angry looking faces on people that did not look like cannabis users or patients looking for medicine. In the midst of the marketplace closing down it became unclear if the correct permits were obtained and established in advance. “The market”, Feuer said,” constituted an unauthorized, unpermitted use of the property” because its operation did not obtained required zoning approvals. Feuer also stated that the operation “violates California’s unfair competition law and detracts from the quality of life of the community and unjustly enriches the defendants.” The former executive director of California Heritage Market says that she spoke with an engineer with the city’s Building and Safety Department who told her a permit was not necessary. On August 3rd, 2014 the California Heritage Marketplace claims they will be opening their doors again, even though their next court hearing regarding the temporary shutdown is scheduled for August 6th. The final outcome for the new LA MMJ farmer’s market is yet to be seen. It’s a model that is working successfully in Washington on a once a month basis, and attendee patients are able to obtain medicine at wholesale prices like the $5 top shelf grams Washington Markets sell. We look forward to that here in California once our state’s evolution process catches up with Colorado, and Washington. 7

Mac & Cheese Broccoli Ingredients: 3 Cups Pasta of Choice 3 Tablespoons Canna Oil 3 Teaspoons of Salt 28 oz. Broccoli Florets 1/3 Cup Canna Butter 3 Cups of Milk
2 1/4 Cups of Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese 3/4 Cup of Shredded Swiss Cheese 1/2 Tablespoon Minced Garlic 1/3 Cup of Flour 1/2 Cup Chopped red pepper
Directions: Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Bring about 6 cups of water to a boil, then proceed to add your pasta and 2 teaspoons of salt. Separately steam your broccoli for about 15 minutes to cut down on the baking time. I prefer my broccoli to be more on the firm side verse soft. In a large pot; under a medium heat, melt your canna butter. Add milk to the melted canna butter and slowly wisk in the flour. Once your milk mixture is fully incorporated add the remaining salt, garlic, swiss cheese, and 1 1/2 cups of the cheddar cheese and stir until blended. Meanwhile, toss your cooked pasta in the canna oil. Slowly add your broccoli, cooked canna-oil pasta, and red peppers into the cheese sauce. Pour this pasta mixture into a 13x9 baking pan. Top with remaining cheddar cheese and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the desired crispiness is achieved.
Brown Sugar Carrots Ingredients: 1 1/2 Pounds baby carrots (Or large carrots peeled and cut into two inch sticks or half inch rounds) 1/2 cup Water 1 tablespoon Cannabutter (you can add another tablespoon for a stronger infusion) 2 tablespoons Dark Brown Sugar 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt Pepper, to taste Directions: In a skillet, bring carrots, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1/2 cup water, cannabutter, and salt to boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, covered for 6 minutes. Uncover and taste and add more sugar as necessary. Increase to high heat, tossing the carrots often until tender which will take about 3 to 4 minutes. Season with pepper and serve.

Corn Bread
Ingredients: 1 egg 1 1/2 cup milk 2 cups yellow cornmeal 1 tablespoon baking powder
1/3 cup canna oil 1 cup all-purpose flour 3 tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon salt
Directions: Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly coat a 12-cup muffin tin with canna oil. In a large bowl, combine milk, canna oil, egg, sugar and salt. Once your liquid mixture is completely incorporated slowly mix in baking powder, cornmeal, and flour. Mix well. Spoon batter into muffin cups. Bake muffins 18 to 20 minutes, or until golden. Serve warm.
Medicated Bruschetta Ingredients: Baguette bread, diagonally sliced into 1/2-inch slices Cannabis Infused Olive oil Peeled garlic cloves 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar 1/2 small shallot, finely chopped (or 1/4 red onion if you don’t have shallots handy) 10 cherry tomatoes, or 2 small tomatoes, chopped 6-8 leaves fresh basil (substitutes: 1/2 teaspoon dried basil or thyme) Kosher Salt Freshly ground black pepper
Directions: Lay baguette slices onto a baking pan lined with foil. Lightly drizzle each slice with the cannabis infused olive oil and toast in an oven for about 5 minutes until slices are lightly golden and crusty all around. Rub the top face of toasted baguette slices with cloves of fresh peeled garlic just to flavor bread. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 part vinegar to 2 parts olive oil. For example, whisk together 2 teaspoons of vinegar with 4 teaspoons olive oil until thoroughly combined. Add chopped shallot into vinaigrette and whisk. Add enough chopped tomatoes so that all tomatoes are just lightly coated and not drowning in vinaigrette. Add chopped fresh basil if available. Otherwise, add dried basil or dried thyme instead. Add a small pinch of salt and ground black pepper to taste. Mix well. Top garlic-rubbed baguette slices with a spoonful of tomato mixture. Serve bruschetta immediately. You can serve with slices of fresh mozzarella for added deliciousness.

Barbara & Marcus
The Creators of “Best Edible”
Marcus and Barbara, the creators of Best Edible, located in Southern California, have two separate reasons for needing the medication they use and manufacture. Marcus suffered a debilitating car accident causing the an implant into his left leg and leading to a life of chronic pain. Barbara has severe and painful Fibromyalgia and she treats the pain with edibles which are assisting her with the removal of pharmaceutical drugs from her daily life. It is slightly more complicated for Barbara because she had been taking trazodone since 1998. Barbara’s condition began to worsen under the treatment of pharmaceuticals and Marcus knew a change was in order. Their reasoning for creating their own edible company is just as compelling. While trying to find the right edible for Barbara at a shop she became ill. The brownie that Barbara consumed, was not properly packaged, stored, prepared, and delivered. After nine months Barbara still had stomach pain and required medical attention. The brownie was full of bacteria causing her to be sick. Again, at this point Marcus and Barbara knew that patients who legitimately need their medications also need them to be professionally made. In this day and age, if a 10
patient gets worse while trying to medicate and get better, a mistake has been made. Marcus and Barbara didn’t want the same mistake causing sickness to happen to anyone else, which was a driving factor why they wanted to make edibles the professional way. First and most important was safety for the consumers. Properly making, storing and transporting the edibles. Equally as important, is delivering the proper dosages. Just like any other medical treatment you have to medicate responsibly. It will be counterproductive to over or under medicate. All of Best Edible’s products are machine manufactured to ensure consistency on dosages and sanitation. Their cookies conform to a smaller size allowing the patient easier treatment of their ailments. A smaller cookie means a smaller dosage. For example, if you need 25
coconut, along with other special flavors. The cookie packages are
sold with 90 mg of medication or with smaller dosages. Best Edible is working to improve their products and increase their line. Marcus and Barbara are trying to incorporate gluten and sugar free options, but getting it together, and getting it right is a long process. Another key struggle for Best Edible, and also a struggle shared by everyone in this industry, is unpredictability, and it is part of the reason Barbara and Marcus require a level of anonymity until legalization or the Federal rescheduling of cannabis takes place. “It’s hard to make long term goals and plans with the possibility that next week a new law could change the lives of every cannabis patient in the US,” Marcus said.
mg of THC, but the chocolate bar you buy typically only comes in 180 mg, the 25mg small cookie becomes a more efficient dosage and delivery method. Consistency is imperative to allow the patient’s keeping on schedule and to help regulate their medication consumption while maintaining a normal life. Best Edible’s cookie flavors include; chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal, and raspberry

Nothing screams summer like ice cream sandwiches, and July is National Ice Cream Month. The cold ice cream dripping down your chin with the sun beaming down upon your back. These two were made for each other. Now imagine that same summer day, lounging in the heat, without a care in the world, and think differently; think INFUSED ice cream sandwiches! This month, our in-house staff at The Edibles List had a blast shooting the cover as we got the chance to work with and try two new great products on the market today. Our first encounter with this phenomenal new craze was the Cannabis Creamery Ice Cream Company. We got the chance to meet Issac, Founder of Cannabis Creamery, at the High Times Cannabis Cup in San Francisco. We had the opportunity and pleasure of watching this ice cream pro work to keep up with the line of patients eagerly waiting to try his flavors! Just picture 31 Flavors, on wheels! (Cannabis Creamery ad is located on the facing page.) Now, take that infused ice cream you just stood in line for, and imagine how to make it even more extravagant. It’s a symbiotic pair when you combine medicated ice cream with
two freshly baked cookies from Big Pete’s Treats, home of the pre-packaged, take-and-bake, infused cookie dough. Big Pete’s Treats frozen medicated cookie dough is ready to bake as it’s packaged with pre-dosed rounds. This cannabis combination takes a mid summer ice cream sandwich recipe to the next level. The Edibles List team got the chance to try these cookies for the first time at the San Jose HempCon festival, where we were approached with a tray of warm, fresh out of the oven, cookies. The only complaint we have for Pete Jr. got milk? Maybe next time.
Big Pete’s Treats cookie dough is has just the right amount of chocolate chips per cookie. Their cookies are so good, you’ll find yourself craving just one more. Find out more about Big Pete’s Treats and where to find them on the next page.
As for the team here at The Edibles List, photographing ice cream is a sticky job, but someone has to do it! URUGUAY: LEADING THE WAY BY PRINCESS JORDEN STAFF EDITOR The “World’s Poorest President,” and a former guerrilla fighter, Uruguay’s President, Jose Mujica has legalized the cultivation, distribution, and sale of marijuana under strict governmental regulation . The ”Poorest President” nickname comes from his austere lifestyle living on his wife’s farm instead of the Presidential Palace,) and his donation of around 90 percent of his $12,000 monthly salary to charities. President since 2010, the 79 year old Jose Mujica, spent 13 year in prison labeled a guerrilla fighter due to his politics and his “robin hood guerilla” tactics.
There is a lot of history behind President Mujica’s reasoning for legalizing marijuana, and gives one an appreciation of this rebel President who has supported and influenced the progress of this bill. TIME magazine recently recognized President Mujica as a pioneer for his revolutionary stand on Marijuana and listed him as one of 2014’s, 100 most influential people in the world. Neighboring countries have honored him with some of their highest awards. Paraguay, in 2010 presented him with their highest order of merit, the Grand Collar of the National Order of Merit, in 2011 Peru gave him their highest award, the Grand Collar of the Order of the Sun, and in 2014 Mexico has awarded President Mujica their highest award, The Order of the Aztec Eagle. Uruguay’s president is more than a politician; he is a representative of progressive revolutionary change. President Jose Mujica has always been motivated by his interest in helping people and his community. Mujica’s political activism began in 1969 when he became involved with the Tupamaro movement; a Latin American urban revolutionary guerrilla group. The group committed small robberies, and charitable acts, such as, giving out money and food to underprivileged people in Uruguay. The Tupamaros group became known as the “robin hood guerillas” for their humanitarian and selfless actions for their people. In the early 1970’s the Tupamaro movement took to alternative
actions after they felt it apparent that the present government was depriving it’s citizens, overlooking their needs, and dictating control of the people of Uruguay regardless of any moral and ethical compass. In an attempt to help reform and improve social injustices, violence and mayhem grew out of control and unfortunately Mujica was shot six times (he lived) and arrested. In 1972, Jose Mujica escaped custody, but was later recaptured and spent 13 years in jail (some of it in solitary confinement.) During the early 1980s, Social equality was being restored, and the Tupamaro movement consented to resolve their social concerns, take the political approach, and move away from militant guerrilla behavior. The Tupamaros political party legitimized and became the National Liberation Movement. In 1985 Jose Mujica was offered amnesty and was released from prison. Jose Mujica helped his career as a politician when he became involved in political activism and social harmony. Before being elected president in 2009 (took office in 2010), Jose Mujica had been elected as Deputy, Senate leader, and served as the Minister of agriculture. President Mujica is definitely an influential person even though being labeled as ”The Poorest President in the World.” Uruguay’s president chooses to reside on a farm in a one bedroom home with his wife and his three legged dog. selling farm grown, chrysanthemum flowers, and driving his old VW “Beetle.” In 2012 Jose Mujica announced for Presidential palace would be included as homeless shelter for citizens. Mujica is a very humble president and only uses what is needed and doesn’t take advantage of his presidential perks; leading by example. Jose Mujica has taken a stand against war and militant behavior by verbalizing and taking action towards his concerns with the environment, politics, the economy, and his people. Uruguay’s president Mujica respects all people’s beliefs and their way of life. He is supportive of his people’s decisions and provides them with options giving the people power and voice. He feels this important
because people are important, and he thinks this ensures they are validated. Theis president is aware of touchy political subjects and he recognizes the need for change. Last year Uruguay became the second South American country to sign the bill legalizing gay marriage. Mujica has expressed his support for legalization of marijuana and abortion too. Other world leaders have honored him as an exemplary world leader, learning from his examples. Recently the Drugs Peace Institute nominated Jose Mujica for the Nobel Peace Prize regarding his efforts in legalizing marijuana; his endeavors in standing against the drug war , and in the mean time, constantly trying to change the Drug Policy. Jose Mujica is also being recognized for donating 90% of his salary as a charitable contribution; which makes his take home wages equivalent to typical citizens. Since Jose Mujica has taken office, Uruguay has become a more socially liberal country. Uruguay’s president legalized marijuana with regards to help public safety, health, and economic resources. The government regulates marijuana in an attempt to divert drug dealers and eliminate drug trafficking in addition to providing government licenses for the sales, cultivation and distribution of said marijuana. Uruguay residents’ can cultivate 6 marijuana plants, or up to 480 grams per year. Smokers clubs can have between 15 – 45 members and can cultivate 99 plants per year. Prices on marijuana sales are regulated to one dollar a gram. The capital made from marijuana will be used for valuable resources such as education and much needed health care. There is no mystery as to why TIME magazine and the Drug Peace Institute recognizes, honors, and commends Jose Mujica for efforts in legalizing marijuana and his world-shattering philanthropy demonstrations. Uruguay’s president has established government policies to help consumers create economic structure. Budgets have been set aside for essential necessities such as education, free computers, and food. Mujica is a president who promotes renewable energy and recycling in his government’s policies. Jose Mujica is true a pioneer for his role in ending prohibition and becoming a positive progressive for cannabis.

THE IMPORTANCE
OF SAFETY WHILE DABBING
BY B. LE GRAND EDITOR-IN-CHIEF Concentrated extracts sometime referred to as “BHO” (butane hash oil) or “wax” is becoming a popular way of consuming cannabis. Some patients have developed such a high tolerance to THC that a concentrate like wax can offer less smoking or bud flower consumption. This process. It is most commonly referred to as “dabbing,” because you’re taking a “dab” of the concentrate. The concentrated extracts or “wax” can be made from butane, C02, cold water, or dry ice. The delivery method can be by electronic vaporizer or by titanium nail and torch to vaporize the wax and be consumed by glass like a bong or bubbler. Many people are on the fence about the long term effects of consuming butane hash oil or “honey oil.” This product is also being used among edible makers, therefore it is very important to know what’s in your medicine. While butane is a naturally occurring gas, our bodies were never made to consume butane, and not all extracts are purged the same. Regardless of the debate on the long term health effects of consuming BHO, there’s a continuous draw at every event to “dab.” Injuries from dabbing do happen. I’ve seen quite a few at multiple Cannabis Cups, especially the most recent Denver 2014 Cup where several people got injured from dabbing. Patients don’t realize that hash, a cold water extract, is ten times more concentrated than bud flower, and wax is four times more concentrated than hash, meaning wax is 40 times more concentrated than bud. In other words, one “dab” is like taking 40 hits from a pipe or joint all at once. Most ‘newbies’, or low tolerance weed smokers that come to Colorado thinking they can handle it, don’t know what they’re getting themselves into. I recently attented one event with 60,000 people coming through and the medical control of the get together was seriously lacking. On both days of the cup 16
in Denver I witnessed casualties of dabbing go down. One older man dabbed, passed out and ended up hitting his head on the pavement causing bleeding from his head. People were screaming, “MEDIC!,” and no one responded as if the screams fell on deaf ears. This horrific scenario began to repeat itself over and over again. At least four people who dabbed, passed out and hit their heads. As disturbed as I was watching the elderly man seizure in a pool of his own blood, I didn’t feel right taking pictures of the scene at the time. Last year at Seattle’s cup one of my best friends became a casualty of dabbing as one of her cannabis associates thought it would be fun to giver her a full gram dab, when she had never dabbed before. Immediately she began suffering a severe panic attack, left the event for the car, proceeded to vomit nothing but stomach acid, and passed out for five straight hours. Needless to say, she never felt the same about dabbing again. At last year’s, first ever recreational cup in Denver, there were contests on who can dab the most. Whoever got the most dab stickers for each dab won some product. The obvious side effect to this dangerous game was witnessing people barely able to stand up straight, drooling, while being incoherent as if they were on heroin. In previous Cannabis Cups put on by High Times there were strict rule for booths that offered free dabs, it seems the rules are becoming more relaxed endangering the safety of the attendees. Below I’ve reiterated what rules used to exist for booths at the Cannabis Cups, in addition I’ve added a few more tips for ‘newbies’ to dabbing.
1. Dab while sitting 2. Always have water 3. Don’t try to impress 4. Don’t hold the hit 5. If you can’t clear it, don’t.

PURE LIFE COLLECTIVE
Located in Diamond Springs, California, Pure Life Collective is a place for edibles and high quality medicine. Pure Life Collective fulfilled the community needs for access to safe medicine, when they opened their doors in August 2011. The company started off with two flower strains and a few prerolls, shortly thereafter edibles were voted in by the collective members as a much wanted positive addition to Pure Life’s inventory. Since that time they’ve grown exponentially. Pure life is situated in a rural community at the foothills of the Eldorado National Forest and it is on the way from California to Lake Tahoe, which helps their business with 10 to 15% of their customers being tourists and passing through traffic . Whitney, a shop manager for Pure Life Collective said, “In the beginning we didn’t spend money to advertise, so patients in the community weren’t aware we were open. Whitney added “but once we became established, word of mouth got around about how we treat our members and our community, and collective members were happy to be a part of that.” Seniors make up the majority of their patients (60%), with 40% middle age, and 20% in the 18-35 demographic. The majority of customers are local return patients. Whitney goes on,”Our patients really love us, we are not a fly by night collective, we’ve established ourselves here, we care about our patients and we’re here to stay!” Part of showing how much they care about their patients includes free grow classes (beginning and advanced), as well as edible making classe, a spiritual class, with plans for yoga in the near future. Whitney said, “we are helping our members know what their medicine is all about. We even are helping them grow their own medicine so they can save money.”
completely changed. I like to tell people that their lives can also be completely changed and they may not have to be on these strong medicines that give you horrible side effects.” Whitney prefers to medicate by vaporizing, but when she’s really nauseous bud flowers is the only things that helps, and for her stomach cramps a low dose edible is perfect. She tries to avoid smoking and share with the collective members that there are safer ways to medicate. Whitney has created her own all natural cannabis infused topical line called Dabba,. She credits Pure Life for being able to start Dabba. Whitney, a former law enforcement employee said, “Law enforcement has it wrong. I believe lack of proper education about cannabis, and ignorance to what cannabis is about are the problems with law enforcement attitudes. They are trained differently. I went through post certification so I know how they’re trained on drugs, and how they classify them and I think this is not appropriate. The more time, and the more arrests I saw on cannabis, made me realize it wasn’t right.” Whitney left after witnessing a violent crime, “I said, ‘This is it.’ I need to be able to make changes in my life and other people’s lives for good.” Pure Life gives back in many ways. They have a compassion program where patients, for whatever reason their hard time is, can come in and get some free medicine, because they believe no one should go without their medicine and be in pain. They have a recycling program to help the environment with their containers, and they’ve sponsored several charities like ‘Relay for Life’ and charities for autistic children, and they say they will sponsor valid causes brought to them.
It was apparent, once I entered Pure Life Collective’s lobby and observed their patients, they were very lucky Pure Life had opened their doors and were providing relief for people who need it desperately in the form of cannabis medicine.
When I asked Whitney what her thoughts are on passing recreational cannabis laws in California, she said, “I think that would be amazing. I think everybody should have cannabis in their life or the availability to it, as long as they’re 18 or older. They have access to cigarettes and alcohol which destroy people’s lives daily. Why can’t they have this, that actually helps and saves people’s lives?”
Whitney said, “We have a lot of retired people in our community living nearby, and a lot of the doctors in our community do believe in cannabis, therefore they let the patients know we’re here, and some Doctors send patients to us so we can help them.”
In regards to California’s edible regulations or lack thereof, Whitney says, “I think California is taking a step back and waiting to see what the other states are doing, so they can piggy-back, which, hopefully is good. But it’s a big undertaking, we all know that, but the sooner we do it, the better for everybody.”
I asked Whitney how she felt about so many patients actually needing cannabis medicine, she said, “Scary, and nice! Scary because doctors are still pushing so many prescription drugs, but nice because they also support the green movement and cannabis, which has lot to offer and the doctors in this community are realizing that cannabis is way better than popping a pill.”
Locally, Pure Life recently had a big win with their laws. The Board of Supervisors recently passed an ordinance to let the handful of established dispensaries in El Dorado County stay and continue to operate. Serving a network of over 5,000 patients and 100-200 patients a day, Pure Life offers a range of edibles regardless if they are competing brands. Everyone has a different body, and everyone’s chemistry is different. One medicine may not work the same for the next patient, and they acknowledge this, letting the patient have the option of choosing from an array of edibles.
Whitney suffers from a disease called gastroparesis, which shuts down her digestive system. She describes the unbearable nausea it gives her, “like having morning sickness every day of my life. If it wasn’t for cannabis, I would be on four different pills to reduce my vomiting, and I would be in the hospital every other week getting fluids. It kind of gets me emotional because if it wasn’t available, my life would be 20

Medible Review:
Home grown tradition
HomeGrown Tradition is a noteworthy edible company with locations in California and Arizona. They make gourmet organic artisanal teas with flavors thoughtfully hand selected. The co-founders of HomeGrown Tradition are entrepreneurs, activists, and medical marijuana patients who, for years, have cultivated and benefited from the use of medicinal cannabis. The benefits of marijuana and the healing properties of tea sparked the inspiration in their latest venture, cannabis-infused tea. The process of infusing chai tea with cannabis is a thousand year old tradition. With East Indian spiritual backgrounds the makers of HomeGrown Tradition teas have developed a proprietary extraction process and method of infusion that makes all the THC readily available for edible consumption. HomeGrown Tradition’s has put a modern twist on an ancient tradition. Every batch of extraction is tested for uniformity and consistency at SC Labs using standard liquid chromatography testing. While competitors aren’t always labeled properly, HomeGrown Tradition uses highly scientific methods, in addition to decarboxylating the medicine to “activate” the THC before it gets in the bottle. HomeGrown Tradition is helping to set the standard with edibles in California. The owners explain, “We are looking at what the states that have regulations are doing and using the best and the most restrictive practices from Washington and Colorado. When California does have regulations we’ll be ready with everything in place.” They are committed to the extraction process, standard education on the medication, and labeling their tea properly so patients will know how much medicine is in their tea and what to expect. The entire bottle of infused tea is 70mg, however, because their concentrate is pre-activated it provides a much heavier effect, producing a pleasantly pain free high. HomeGrown owners said, “Most people are afraid, because they’ve had a bad experience with edibles, too much or too little. The novice user isn’t educated about edible and infusted tea use, which is why we’re focused on educating the patient on the product and dosage. Most people should consume 5-10mg [of edible medicine] then wait. With our product, we recommend that patients start with one to two ounces of tea and wait thirty to forty minutes before experiencing any more to establish your tolerance levels – not all edible dosages are the same. Many edibles on the market do not ‘activate’ the THC before infusion so all of it is not bio-available.” HomeGrown Tradition hopes to contribute to the current changing culture of cannabis and promote professionalism, not just on the dispensary level, but on the entire business spectrum level. They are also committed to educating people on why edibles are a beneficial method of medicine consumption as opposed to other delivery methods. “Getting the word out for patients to try our beverage is our goals .”They believe once tried, patients will be sold.
ready to go to sleep, usually the effect of a 300mg edible on me. Their current line of flavors include Bhang Chai Tea, Mellow Mint Green Tea, and Luscious Dark Chocolate Berry Tea, all can be enjoyed hot or cold. Another big plus about their product is that the bottle is re-sealable. Most other infused drinks in the industry are packed in beer bottle style sodas, requiring the entire dose to be consumed at one time or wasted. Bhang Chai Tea, with its eleven premium organic spices, is pleasantly reminiscent of India. Chilled, it is refreshing as a cold glass of milk alongside fresh-baked cookies. Warmed, it is a soothing yet invigorating blend of distinct and alluring flavors. Mellow Mint Green Tea is a bright, clean blend of Chinese gunpowder green tea and Moroccan peppermint. A truly healing combination, it contains rejuvenating antioxidants and can be enjoyed warm for a soothing digestive aid. Chilled, it is perfect medicated refresher for a hot summer day. Luscious Dark Chocolate Berry Tea is a juicy and luxurious blend that tastes like chocolate-dipped cherries in a drink. Made from organic Ecuadorian raw cacao and combined with rich, creamy vanilla and succulent cherries, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this flavor, being that I’m not a huge fan of chocolate. But I was pleasantly surprised at the balance of richness and velvety smooth flavors. In addition to insomnia and general pain relief, HomeGrown Tradition teas are affective on muscle spasms, tension, inflammation, nausea, headaches and migraines. The end results is their beverage helps in minimizing patient needs for prescription pain relievers or narcotics. HomeGrown Tradition is forging ahead in the cannabis infused products marketplace, creating new delicious exotic combinations they think will exciete their patients Plans are in the works for eventually launching additional edibles in their line outside of bottled teas, and they look to be a household name in the marijuana industry in every state with medicinal cannabis laws. While the industry takes off like wildfire, they maintain that edibles are indeed safer than smoking. When asked about the rescheduling of cannabis, it was their opinion that it would happen within the next four to six years. “There have been a lot of fallen soldiers in this movement. It’s sad that a plant that grows from the ground and has healing properties has been under prohibition for so long. It took 10 years with alcohol, and that was in the day and age of newspapers and telephones, in today’s age it should catch on like wildfire.” When recreational legalization happens nationally, or the Federal rescheduling of cannabis takes places, pharmaceutical big name corporations will jump into the industry. It’s important to HomeGrown Tradition to “have a reliable and trustworthy brand name with our patients.” Their medicine is “clean green” veganic cannabis, using nutrients provided by a live aquatonics eco-system, that produces nutrients the way nature intended. We are looking forward to tasting what they will brew up next!
Their product is extremely potent and highly recommended for insomnia and severe pain like multiple sclerosis. I have an obscene Check them out at www.homegrowntradition.com tolerance to edibles and after drinking one drink, an hour later I was or @homegrowntradition on Instragram
