LETTER FROM THETEXT EDITOR HERE TEXT HERE Greetings my friends, What a crazy time it’s been lately. Permit Patty, Trump and Putin, James Gunn, The standoff at Trader Joe’s in Silverlake.. It feels like the world continues to go crazy. The longest total eclipse of the century is coming up July 27th and there will be a Blood Moon. Maybe that has something to do with it. Anyway, welcome to The Edibles Magazine Television Issue, featuring GG from Bravo TV’s Shahs of Sunset. She’s been using medicinal cannabis to treat her rheumatoid arthritis and now she’s launching her own brand and line of infused products called WüSah, that includes pre rolls, disposable vapes, and infused cold pressed juices.

Edibles Magazine Issue 32

Television has been a friend to cannabis for a long time. So much of “tv watching” is done online now through streaming services and it’s actually made it even more conducive to getting high. Commercial free binge watching and the ability to easily switch from shark documentary to anime to Star Trek has become a perfect distillation of everything that makes cannabis and zoning out in front of the screen go so well together. Netflix has debuted some original “stoner” comedy shows and cooking shows like “Disjointed” and “Cooking on High”. HBO had “High Maintenance” and Mtv had “Mary +Jane”. Nobody seems to have cracked the code yet for making it right. Most people would rather get high and watch”Nailed It”, “Adventure Time” or “Stranger Things”. I don’t think we’ll have a genuinely realistic fictional project about the business for at least a few more years but we’ll see - anything is possible.

10

Some sad news.. Jon Schnepp, best known for his work on Adult Swim's “Metalocalypse”, passed away on July 19th. He was a talented artist and an amazing person who will be missed greatly. Jon directed “The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?” It’s one of my all time favorite documentaries and is incredible to watch while high or on mushrooms. Oklahoma has legalized medicinal cannabis, sort of. The Oklahoma Health Department’s lawyer catfished herself with death threats and they Issue No. 47 I Page 10

don’t plan on selling on Sundays. I was born and raised there and to be honest I’m not surprised that they are off to a rocky start. Getting the licensing and legal mumbo jumbo just right is a challenge for every aspect of the industry in every state. We continue to be ever vigilant in making sure our advertisers are licensed and everything that we do here at the magazine is within the boundaries of the law, and it isn’t always easy. It means doing research and asking all of the right questions to make sure EVERYBODY is doing things right. It’s one of the reasons it’s so difficult in getting the tone authentic when you produce cannabis content. What goes on behind the scenes politically can get pretty insane and viewers probably aren’t realistically ready for that yet. Someday shows about lobbyists and policy makers in the medical and adult use market might seem as normal as police dramas. Who knows? “Better Call Saul” and “Orange is the New Black” both just had new seasons start. Both programs have been praised for bringing a sense of realism to genres that lacked it before. A weed TV show might do that someday. Let’s hope it doesn’t take too long. As always, smile at your budtender, tip your delivery driver, and know your dose. “Truth is not obliged to stick to possibilities.”

Golnesa Gharachedaghi, known to her fans as "GG,” and who’s name actually means “Flower Lady” became a serious medical marijuana patient during her battle with rheumatoid arthritis and her subsequent recovery from Chemotherapy. Now she’s paying it forward by launching her own line of cannabis infused products called Wusah, and she’s the 1st reality TV star in history to do so.

GG’s life is like an open book, exhibiting her love of knives, her exotic cat, her recovery from addiction, her battle with rheumatoid arthritis and her whirlwind romance that ended in divorce that she’s currently going through. Now for the first time on a network reality show, we get to see her launch her new legal cannabis product line in California on national television. Streaming goliath, Netflix has launched cannabis shows like Cooking on High and Disjointed, along with documentaries that, by the time they come out, are already dated and obsolete. For last the 5 years, I’ve heard of cannabis reality shows being filmed and pitched, some even featuring the Edibles List team. But never have we actually seen cable television allow cannabis content to air, aside from CNN’s Weed documentary and MSNBC’s mini series Pot Barons. Notable mentions include Kris Jenner eating edibles with her mom in 2014 on E!’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Tamar Braxton going into a dispensary and picking up a copy of Edibles Magazine™ on Braxton Family Values on WeTV. This is the first time in history a reality TV star who is famous for being themselves is launching their own entire cannabis line. GG not only has a platform of loyal fans to spread the word to, she herself is a true medical cannabis patient, using

cannabis to treat her rheumatoid arthritis (RA). “It took almost two years to find out it was rheumatoid arthritis. It started with my hands, and then it was my knees and then it was my shoulders. I think at that point I decided I needed to see a rheumatologist. It wasn’t for maybe, 8 years later that I use cannabis as a form of treatment. I was 27 when it started happening. It started there. My fingers were the size of sausages. I had surgery on this finger, you can see the jigsaw line. I had so much steroids injected to keep the swelling down, that they couldn’t inject anymore, so they had to open it up.,” GG said. She points out that autoimmune disorders are typically genetic. “My dad got diagnosed with a form of rheumatism, probably two and a half to three years after I got diagnosed. So, if it comes from anywhere it’s coming from my dad.” In many cases with a chronic pain illness like RA, the condition can be misdiagnosed. GG was spared the hassle of the wrong medications for the wrong illness. “Rheumatoid was definitely the first prognosis and diagnosis, before that it was tendonitis, bursitis, and all this other stuff. They were so easily injecting the corticosteroids in every part of my body and didn’t realize it was an autoimmune

Golnesa Gharachedaghi, known to millions of fans as "GG,” is the breakout star of the hit Bravo reality television series Shahs of Sunset. The hit show features the captivating lives of six young Persian-American Hollywood socialites. Produced by Ryan Seacrest, the show came out in 2012 and is now going into its 7th Season debuting August 2nd. GG is known for her fiery temper, and I personally find her the most entertaining character to watch on the show.

She just believed in the benefits.” GG’s mom convinced her to research the anti-inflammatory benefits of cannabis and then she went to a cannabis doctor. “My mom took me to Dr. Frankel. He’s located in Santa Monica, California and he’s known to be an M.D. that was treating his patients with cannabis. Unfortunately, Western medicine wasn’t really allowing that at the time. He created his own practice. So my mommy took me to him, and he taught me how to dose, how to look for strains, and do all that stuff.”

When I asked her what other remedies she tried, she said, “I tried everything, holistic, from Eastern to Western. I did it all. But it took me a long time to come to cannabis, because I was an addict. And I got clean in 2005, so it was scary for me thinking, ‘If I have this, oh my gosh, is that going to do this to me’ But I listened What is Chemotherapy supposed to do for to my mom, because my mom forced me Arthritis patients? to do this. I think the hardest process is naming something, but it suits me, it suits the product. Everyone knows me as this, you know, fiery personality. About two years ago, I went away and got some spiritual healing. I introduced cannabis into my life, and I calmed down. I just love the word. “Yes. The first thing I ever had was pot at 11 years old. I was young. I was a special child. I stopped using when I went to rehab in 2005. At the time, it was considered a drug, and at that time, no one had the proper education about what cannabis did. None of us did. I wasn’t smoking at that time because I thought it was healing me in anyway. It would just calm me down. So I quit everything in 2005 and I just started up again 2 years ago.”

INDUSTRY NEWS

#PermitPatty: A Cautionary Tale B. Le Grand

We briefly took the company profile written about Treatwell Health and Alison Ettel down (and got chastised for that by Treatwell supporters), while we wrote a disclaimer stating the facts of the incident in San Francisco. Alison Ettel was filmed calling the cops on an 8 year old bi-racial girl selling cold water on a hot day blocks from AT&T Park on game day. The incident occurred on a Friday, the cousin of the little girl posted the video the mother took on social media and the news spread like wildfire. Black twitter was in an uproar and found her name, address, phone and email within hours of the video being posted. Immediately, Twitter commenters called her even more privileged for working in the cannabis industry specializing in dog edibles, then calling for a boycott of her products. Treatwell Health’s website went down, presumably to stop the screenshots and constant hate mail. The video showed Alison on the phone, then ducking behind a retaining wall when she sees she’s being filmed. There is no video of before the incident escalating before Alison calls the cops. I watched the video and thought, “There’s got to be something else to this picture. But even in the worst case scenario there had to be a better way to handle that situation.” In the video, you can see Alison on her phone, but she ducks out of frame when she sees that the girl's mother is recording her. The mother of the little girl can be heard saying, "She's calling the police on an 8-year-old girl." She continues, "This woman don’t want a little girl to sell some water." "Don't hide. The whole world’s gonna see you, boo," the mother said after Alison ducks down behind the retaining wall. Alison replies, “Ya, um, illegally selling water without

a permit.” Mother says, “On my property.” Alison replies, “ It’s not your property!” Alison then goes on the ABC Bay Area morning news the following Monday to reply to the negative press, balling tears, with a story that says she did ask them to be quiet, claiming she didn’t actually call the cops, she was calling building security. The press and social media then continues to pick up the story, inflaming the racial issue of white people calling the cops on black citizens doing normal and harmless things. Maybe Alison missed the memo about #BBQBecky in neighboring Oakland, where a white woman called the cops for a group of black friends barbecuing (legally) at Lake Merritt. BBQBecky ended up losing her job after the public humiliation and backlash. #PermitPatty becomes the official moniker in which the press now refers to Alison. The mother and little girl tell the press they were raising money to help pay for a trip to Disneyland that got stalled because her mom lost her job. They end up receiving a trip to Disneyland paid for by a musician on Twitter, on a private jet paid for by actor James Woods. Many social media spectators, including ourselves, couldn’t understand why Alison couldn’t relate to the entrepreneurial spirit of the little girl. I commend the girl for selling water, it’s important to stay hydrated (especially if you consume a lot of cannabis). Water is the number one solution to cottonmouth; another reason Alison was labeled a hater and hypocrite. From the first cannabis cup I ever attended, I saw the need for the having water available at large events, so I really support what the little girl was doing. We don’t have the evidence to ascertain how loud she may have been shouting, “Cold Water, $2.” But, let’s be real, I lived in the heart of San Francisco for nearly a decade, and it’s loud during the day, especially on game day South of Market. When I lived there, on the weekends, a man on a motorcycle, without a muffler and playng music, would tour the city with his dog riding on his bike, barking his heart out for an hour straight, with the sounds of his motorcycle booming along with the dog’s constant barks in the city’s echo chamber. There was no way to drown it out, and who would you complain to about something like that? Was it hilarious from an animal lover’s perspective? Absolutely.

I woke up on a Saturday morning (June 23rd to be exact), to find #permitpatty trending on Twitter, only to realize the video of the women being dubbed a racist was Alison Ettel (former) CEO of Treatwell Health. Treatwell Health had been featured on our website and in our magazine in 2015. Twitter trolls demanded we take the 3 year old article down, (at the time it was the first thing that showed up when you searched Google for Alison Ettel). Saturday afternoon rolled around with hateful phone calls to our office line about having written an article about such a person, (said with more expletives). The photo we took of her got pulled and used several times over for videos and memes calling her out.

INDUSTRY NEWS

Cont'd from Prev Page

#PermitPatty: Continued On Wednesday, Alison resurfaces granting an interview with news outlet CNN attempting to salvage her reputation. By then, 6 dispensaries, a documentary and other cannabis related businesses publicly denounced Alison Ettel and her entire line of Treatwell Health products. The CNN piece shows a noticeable difference in the dwelling Alison lives in as opposed to where the mother and daughter duo are living. Alison has a spacious well-lit home, with very high ceilings, and what appears to be a view that seemed high up enough off the ground that any noise could have been drowned out by closing the windows. The mother-daughter duo seem to be living in a studio with a bed in the living room next to the couch with no bed frame and a tiny galley kitchen. The girl said she has lived in that building her entire life, 8 years. Thursday, Alison resigns publicly as CEO from Treatwell Health, via a new agent allocated to handle her press inquiries, after the mother of the girl spends the week claiming that Alison called the cops because she must have wanted SFPD to murder her child since that’s the only thing she believes cops do based on what she’s seen. While we know Alison, and we know that she is not a racist, watching all this transpire, and being dragged into it, we had so many questions.

Edibles Magazine Issue 47

How could Alison never have seen this family in the time she lived there? Why didn’t she just close the window? Why didn’t she put headphones in? Why doesn’t she have air conditioning or a window unit? Turn on a fan? Why did she call the cops? Seriously, don’t get it. Doesn’t she understand the cops have better things to do? Why did she stand there to be filmed while calling the cops? Why didn’t she ask nicer? Kill them with kindness? Why not offer to buy all of her water to make her quit for the day? Doesn’t she know that being white calling the cops on black people for something harmless is going to look bad and backfire… much less a child? Couldn’t she see that if they needed to sell water on the street (without a permit) that they probably needed the money and that they were in a less fortunate position than her?

25

I used to use Treatwell Health for my dogs, I truly believed in the quality and consistency in her products. I waited to write this article, so we could get a full grasp and understanding of all the facts, and we felt that in the week it happened, all the facts hadn’t been revealed yet. I had hoped that there was some piece of information the public was missing that would exonerate Alison.

Lo and behold, Friday of that week, news outlets release the actual 911 call recording, where you can hear Alison telling emergency services there is a person selling water without a permit. The dispatch takes a notable pause, “Uh, ok”. The recording disconnects, and it is unclear if she hung up or got presumably transfers her to a non-emergency police line. I wanted so bad to be able to still use her products and support her company, but after the 911 call got released, it sadly ensured she lost all credibility whatsoever. It’s not a great idea to go on national television and lie to the world like that when there’s recorded evidence laying around to come bite you in the ass later. I thought that Alison was my friend at one point in time, but when I look back to my last interaction with her last year, when I told her I was having a hardship and looking for new investors, she told me to give up, instead of encouraging me to persevere. That’s not what a friend would say in challenging times. I find the moral of the story to be the golden rule, treat others how you want to be treated. Be sensitive to others. We can understand that it’s the epitome of stress and anxiety in the cannabis industry right now, but that doesn’t give anyone the right to take out their stress on someone else. It saddens me to see how some people have digressed to interacting in person like it’s a 140 character troll like cut down everywhere they go. We live in a world that is a community, a society that works together. We must accept sometimes that we have limited control in the outside world, but we do have control over our immediate universe. We must also learn to be more accepting of each other in general. With social media faster than the 24 hour news cycle, and every person armed with a video camera, if you do something awful people are going to call you out on it. Also, let’s face it, white privilege is alive and well. We don’t need another #PoolPatrolPaul or white girls calling the cops on black students at Yale for sleeping in the dorms, or white people calling the cops on black kids for wearing socks in the pool. The cops have better things to do than break up civil disputes. Think before you react. This comes to be a cautionary tale of a woman who lost her established cannabis business and reputation. It's the first time we've seen a cannabis company in the news and social media being torn down, and so quickly.

Canadian Scientists Brew Patented Cannabis Beer

B. Le Grand

Canadian scientists have created what they’re calling the first beer brewed from cannabis, ahead of October’s legalization. Dooma Wendschuh of Province Brands, the Toronto startup behind the new brew, claims other cannabis beers available are generallybrewedwithbarleyandtheninfusedwithcannabisoilafterthebeerisbrewed. “That’s not what we do. Our beer is brewed from the stocks, stem and roots of the cannabis plant,” Wendschuh told The Guardian. Dooma, originally from Florida, moved to Toronto in 2016 and has been working since then to capitalize on Canada’s plans to legalize recreational cannabis. “The idea came from thinking, can we create something that can serve the role that alcohol serves in our society, and can we do that using this monumental sea change that is happening in our world right now? “I don’t think there was anywhere else in the world where we could do this business,” Wendschuh said. “Canada is already leading the world in creating an industry around medical cannabis and we expect them to continue to lead the world in trading and industry around adult-use cannabis.” There were initial doubts that cannabis could be brewed into beer. “The things that we would come up with just tasted horrible,” Wendschuh said. “They tasted like rotten broccoli.” With the help of a chemist, they eventually got the right combination of hops, water, yeast and cannabis. Any alcohol produced during the process is removed, resulting in a non-alcoholic, gluten-free beer that offers a high. Yes, that’s right, a non-alcoholic THC beer. “The flavor is dry, savory, less sweet than a typical beer flavor,” he said. “The beer hits you very quickly, which is not common for a marijuana edible.” The beer is brewed from the stocks, stems and roots of the cannabis plant, offering an alternate use for what is essentially a waste product for the industry. “We take them off the grower’s hands, saving them the cost of hiring a licensed disposal company to dispose of them,” said Wendschuh. Wendschuh believes his product will be safer and healthier than alcohol, but acknowledges that it comes with its own risks. “Marijuana is not good for you and our beers are not good for you,” he said. “You should not drink them five times a day, you should not drink them first thing when you wake up in the morning. We’re not saying that.” Instead, he perceives his beer as a first step in upending an industry that has become ubiquitous. “If I could create an alternative to alcohol, that’s something that would change the world,” he said. “That’s something I’m very passionate about.” Thegoalisforeachbottletoberoughlyequivalenttoasingledoseofalcohol.Thusfar, the Province Brands’ experimental products have averaged about 6.5mg of THC per beer. Here at Edibles Magazine™, we have met a few individuals who have engineered recipes to brew THC beer without adding concentrate in after the fact. This however, is the first time we’ve seen a patent issued. The recipe patent was filed 6 months ago and is the backbone of the company’s plans to build a C$50m facility that Province Brands hopes will be the world’s first cannabis brewery. They plan to roll out a variety of beers using different flavors and strains of cannabis, mimicking breweries that produce lagers, stouts and ales. Additionally, removing the alcoholsolvesthelegalproblemofalcoholbeingregulatedbyadifferentbureau, which makes it impossible to make an alcoholic cannabis beverage and sell it as a product. Earlier this year, alcohol giant Constellation Brands bought into Canopy Growth Corporation, officially partaking in the cannabis industry, which gave the impression they would be the first to make a cannabis beer. Experts (including ourselves) predict the legal cannabis market will provide major returns to early stage investors. It is a time reminiscent of investors seeing profits comparable to bitcoin and the 1990’s dot com boom. Issue 47 I Page 27

INFUSED RECIPES The recipes this issue are semi inspired by the lovely GG who graces our cover this month. There’s a mediterranean flair and these dishes are fun for summer and perfect for medicating while watching TV, or for an infused picnic. These tasty pieces go great together or as separate snacks. Lamb Kush Koftas

Instructions: Place the nuts in a bowl of a food processor fitted with the steel blade. Pulse until finely chopped but not pasty. Transfer the nuts to a small dry skillet over medium heat; cook, stirring frequently, until the nuts are lightly browned and fragrant, 5 to 6 minutes.

Ingredients: 1/4 cup each pine nuts, almonds, and walnuts (total 3/4 cup) 1 small yellow onion, roughly chopped 3 cloves garlic, roughly chopped 1 small red bell pepper, roughly chopped 2 Tablespoons of Canna Butter 1/2 cup cilantro leaves, gently packed (okay to substitute parsley) 2 pounds ground lamb 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin Heaping 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon Heaping 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom Heaping 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1-1/2 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoon white pepper Tzatziki and hummus, for serving

Place on the baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap, then refrigerate until ready to cook. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and oil the grates. Place the kofta on the grill and cook, covered, until browned, about 4 per side or until cooked through. Serve with tzatziki and hummus. Make-Ahead: The patties can be made and refrigerated up to two days ahead of time, or frozen for up to three months. (Freeze the patties on a baking sheet or plate so their shape sets, then transfer them to a sealable plastic bag for easy storage.) EdiblesList.com I EdiblesMagazine.com

Pour the nuts into mixing bowl large enough to hold all of the ingredients, and set aside to cool. (Don't leave the nuts in the pan, as the residual heat may cause them to burn.) Place the onion, garlic, bell pepper, and cilantro in the bowl of the food processor (no need to clean it first). Pulse until the vegetables are finely minced but not puréed. Set a fine sieve over a medium bowl. Transfer the minced vegetables to the sieve and use a rubber spatula to press out as much liquid as possible. Add the strained vegetable mixture to the bowl with the nuts. To the veggies and nuts, add the lamb, canna butter, cumin, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, salt, and white pepper. Using your hands, mash the mixture together until evenly combined. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Form the mixture into patties about 2 inches in diameter and 1/2-inch thick (they will puff up on the grill to look like meatballs).

PRODUCT REVIEWS WüSah: Refresh Cold Pressed Juice Jack Paradise

WüSah is the new cannabis brand being launched by Bravo TV’s Golnesa Gharachedaghi, the breakout star from “The Shahs of Sunset” reality show, and the Refresh line of cold pressed drinks are among her most exciting products. The cold pressed watermelon pomegranate mint juice comes in an 8 fluid ounce bottle and has a 50:50 ratio of 10mg CBD plus 10mg of THC. This drink is quite unlike the majority of infused beverages currently available. There are no added sugars in the drink and it tastes natural and refreshing. It’s a welcome change from the usual over sweetened sodas or artificial juices made from concentrates. WüSah Refresh is infused using cannabis extract, contains medium chain triglycerides and no added colors. It’s also moderately dosed compared to a lot of what’s out there making it suitable for morning and the early afternoon as well as an evening after dinner

drink or nightcap. Cannabinoids in a beverage have the potential to be absorbed sublingually as you drink, while also passing through the digestive tract. Having equal amounts of both tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) is perfect for producing the interactive synergy between cannabis compounds called the “entourage effect.” Watermelon juice has a number of health benefits, including the fact that it’s loaded with Lycopene. Lycopene is responsible for the red color of watermelon. It is a powerful antioxidant, known to protect your cardiovascular system from free radical damage. Cold-pressed juices are made using a hydraulic press to extract juice from fruit and vegetables, and must be stored in a refrigerator. This product must be consumed within 3 days of opening. The feeling produced when using WüSah Refresh was nice and light. The drink is delicious and has just enough medicine to take the edge off and leave you smiling. You can definitely tell that it’s healthy and made with the best of ingredients that will leave you feeling pleasantly productive, relaxed and refreshed, with your thirst fully quenched. WüSah.

I really like this product. The bottle is legitimate. Along with the vinaigrette, the bottle contains thyme, sage, and garlic. The vegetation on display with the vinaigrette looks very elegant. I tried the vinaigrette by adding some to a wrap I was eating. It was absolutely delicious. No hint of CBD was detected in any part of my wrap. Though I couldn’t taste it, the

CBD went into action quite rapidly. Due to a spinal injury, I have rather violent spasms. The best way I’ve found to deal with them is by combining CBD with THC. The CBD in this product quickly suppressed my spasms. Because the package is beautifully done, and the efficacy is solid, I can’t help but highly recommended this product. I know for a fact that this will be my preferred method of taking CBD. Daily Eats is produced by Chef Matt, also known as Ganja Eats on social Media.

WüSah: Pre-Roll Hybrid Joints Richard Bell

Today, I had the privilege of trying some lovely flower by Wūsah. There are seven joints per jar. Each joint contains about .5g of flower, totaling a complete 8th. They’re small enough to smoke one and not have a roach left to stink up your purse or pocket.

Can You Spot The Pot?

They come in a very nice jar, and have a pleasant aroma. The jar has a nice twist top that keeps the product fresh. I enjoyed the way they tasted. After smoking one joint, I felt pretty elevated. I was high, but not so much so that I couldn’t concentrate on what i was working on at the time. I’m not necessarily a lightweight, but smoking just one joint was enough for me. I’m sure I will be reaching for the jar to retrieve another joint in a couple of hours. The company was founded by GG of Shahs of Sunset. Along with the pre-rolled joints, they have an assortment of other products including vape pens and drinks. I haven’t tried any of her other products yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to it. I like her packaging, and overall aesthetic.

I highly recommend this product for anyone who can appreciate medicating with the convenience and efficiency of prerolls. These joints are very effective, and the jar they come in provides for discretion if you need it. Smoking these joints was a pleasurable and elevating experience. I’m looking forward to lighting the next one and heading back to my studio to complete some projects. The Television Issue

I keep my jar of pre-rolls in my bag so that they’re in reach when I need to medicate. It is very convenient to have my meds ready to go without having to worry about who will help me roll my flower, because of the lack of hand dexterity. I also don’t have to worry about carrying a pipe with me.

Luna Rocca Moonrock and the Piece Pipe Chrome Ken Breese

It was a cloudless night, brightened by a full moon. I thought it would be the perfect stage to throw on some Classic Rock, pull out my new Piece Pipe Chrome and load it with some moon rocks from Luna Rocca. Seeing the PP looks like a Silver Bullet in its unengaged form, I threw on some Bob Seger and proceeded to ready my argent pipe for a healthy serving of Luna Rocca’s golden treasure. In it’s hidden form, the Piece Pipe looks like a simple key chain. The Chrome version I got is compact and looks sleek. The Piece Pipe also comes in gold. One small pull on the end of the pipe will reveal the bowl. Another pull will reveal a small receptacle for stashing a couple of extra packs worth of Luna Rocca, or whatever flower you’re smoking. Pull off the outer shell completely, and the Piece Pipe easily separates into two pieces, allowing for a very simple cleaning process. This pipe is slick and has an elegant design. I can see me and the Piece Pipe playing weed super spy together, using this bad boy out on the beach or at my nephew’s soccer games. It’s light, comfortable in my pocket, and best of all, it works. I’d love to see some sort of poking tool added to a future design, but, it’s hard to find anything else wrong with this product. After getting over my initial awe of how on point the Piece Pipe’s engineers were in it’s design, I wanted to keep the on-the-nose musical accompaniment train going, so, I threw on Warren Zevon’s Werewolves of London, as I

grabbed the golden packaged goodness of the Luna Rocca. The packaging on this product is gorgeous. It looks like a fancy candy you’d grab at a pharmacy counter when you’re too drunk or high to think about budgets or calories. It looks... luxurious. The initial bouquet upon tearing open the package was pleasant and sweet. This product is soft to the touch and isn’t sticky or hard to handle. I finished packing the bowl as old Warren started howling about Pina Coladas at Trader Vic’s. Looking up into the bright night sky, I took my first pull. I’ve tried many moon rocks in the past, and was bracing myself for a harsh drag. To my delight, I didn’t need to, as the flavor of Luna Rocca was incredibly mild and tasty. An oily warmth filled my lungs, and the back end of the exhale left a rich aftertaste. After a few pulls, my smoking partner and I each noticed a lovely body high coupled with a mild euphoria. We settled into our lawn chairs and stared up into the sky, as our hastily concocted moon based playlist slipped into the opening riffs of Ozzy’s classic Bark at the Moon. Satisfied with my high, off a very small amount of product, I packed the rest of my Luna Rocca into the Piece Pipe’s storage receptacle and threw it on my keychain. I love knowing I have a quick pick me up of Luna Rocca waiting for me the next time I get stuck at a friend’s terrible improv show or hear Van Morrison start singing about the nights magic. NannaJuana’s is a very cool company making Superior Hemp Infused Lip and Skin Care products. Naturally effective, vegan friendly, gluten free with no GMO’s and even Peta Certified with no animal testing. NannaJuana’s has an extensive line that includes soaps, oils, body butter and more. The Superior Hemp Infused Lip Balm is what I tried this month. The balm comes in

a 15oz tube like a regular chapstick would, but only has 3 total ingredients: organic hemp oil, candelilla wax and mango butter. The directions are even simpler - :”Apply on lips as needed. Hemp - Hydrate - Heal.” NannaJuana is already my favorite lip balm and I just started using it. Incredibly soothing and delicious tasting without seeming unnaturally like candy or anything artificial. The box says, “When you want it blessed by Mother Earth… use NannaJuanaa”. Sounds like solid advice. To order some and read more visit nannajuanas.com.

Elite Extracts Live Joint Jack Paradise

Elite Extracts Live Joints are seriously one of my favorite new products. I’ve been a fan of their cartridges since the beginning, which was the 2017 Infused Expo, and now they’re making extra large fully infused pre-rolls - my favorite way to get medicated. Yes, extra large - 2 full grams of top shelf flower, dipped in 93% distillate and rolled in crumbly kief genuinely native to the flower. This one is Gorilla Glue #4, famous as a potent hybrid, slightly indica dominant and capable of leaving you glued to the couch. These joints are “live” indeed, and weighing in at 2 grams BEFORE the kief and oil is even more impressive. If you’re literally a heavy hitter then you’ll probably be fine stepping up to the plate alone with one of these, but when a smoke is this big is seems especially meant to be shared. There’s plenty to go around and these boast more than just a lot of quantity - the quality is top rate. Strong, delicious, flavorful and powerful. The packaging is a classy glass branded tube with a screw top lid for easy transportation and storage. This joint took a little while to burn. About 15 minutes and it smells nice and strong as it does. The taste and feel was smooth despite all the layers you have happening and all the cannabis components compliment each other well. The kief used to coat is the very stuff produced when Elite grinds the flower used to roll, so you have all the native terps working together to really bring out a superpowered version of all the best effects normally associated with Gorilla Glue, meaning: incredibly mellow and very happy. It was perfect for playing Words With Friends while watching Breaking Bad. I can’t recommend these enough, it’s a great product of the highest quality. Hopefully things continue to move in this very fine direction. Visit Elite Extracts at their website and learn more here: elitevapesca.com. The Television Issue

Official Hemp CBD Ban in California & United States B. Le Grand

In an otherwise unannounced reply to the public’s inquires, the California Department of Public Health quietly released a revised FAQ Sheet July 6th, 2018 stating that CBD in any food or pet food products is banned. Regardless of its source, industrial hemp is not recognized as safe for food consumption, referencing The Controlled Substance Act of 1970 and the FDA’s stance. Their FAQ statement says:

“Therefore, although California currently allows the manufacturing and sales of cannabis products (including edibles), the use of industrial hemp as the source of CBD to be added to food products is prohibited. That means that all CBD must be sold in licensed dispensaries, and all CBD must be made from whole plant cannabis under licensed manufacturers in California. Per the FDA, each hemp product needs to apply. All applications for hemp products are pending and one has been denied approval since 2000. GW Pharmaceuticals Sativex and Epidiolex CBD drugs contain 0.15% THC so their products are not technically considered hemp, because the THC amount is above 0.03%.

Under existing law, including the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act passed by Congress in 1994, the FDA can take action to remove products from the market, but the agency must first establish that such products are adulterated (e.g., that the product is unsafe) or misbranded (e.g., that the labeling is false or It is unclear if California has allocated a task misleading). force to enforce this ruling. Groupon Now Offers CBD & Vape Deals

B. Le Grand

A year ago, they absolutely did not allow anything CBD, vaporizer or remotely cannabis related on their coupon platform. With their vast subscriber lists and account holders, they open a new door to a new audience. Now, when someone says they’re launching an app or website that is going to be the “Groupon of Cannabis,” we are far along enough into the future that Groupon IS the Groupon of Cannabis.

• CBD Edible Gummy Party Pack (1,000mg) from Jolly Green Oil • Aspire Typhon Revvo 100w TC Kit (19-Piece) from Hookah Town • CBD Hemp Seed Oil Tincture from Just CBD (1500 Mg) • Atmos Rx Dry Herb Vaporizer • CBD Gummies from Jolly Green Oil (250mg). Multiple Flavors Available. • Yocan Hive Vaporizer Kit in Choice of Color from Hookah Town (Up to 55% Off) The list goes on. A search for “CBD” on Groupon's website returns 585 relevant results, at the time of writing this article. I’m still in a bit of shock this is happening, but we support it. It is unclear if Groupon is aware of the Hemp CBD Ban about to be enforced by each state’s Department of Food and Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration.

These are just some of the featured Groupon We reached out to Groupon's deals that ended up in my inbox: media relations for comment. • Yocan Explore 2-in-1 Wax and Dry Vaporizer We will update you if we hear back. Kit from Hookah Town (6-Piece) EdiblesList.com I EdiblesMagazine.com

Early in July 2018, was the first time I noticed Groupon sending me emails offering discounted deals for wax/dry herb vaporizers and then subsequently CBD Gummies. I had one of those “no way, holy shit” moments. I checked and double checked, and I was not dreaming, Groupon is the next wave of mainstream merchandise and deal outlets to join the cannabis revolution.

BLAZED MOVIE REVIEW TEXT HERE

Blazed Blerd (Black Nerd) Groovy Movie - So High: Solo DJ Reid 420

eggs, nerds will find new things to reference until the next Star Wars film debuts. With an amazing production design that doesn't draw attention to itself Ron Howard really captures the feel of a Star Wars story. The cameos are totally what you would expect from a Ron Howard picture. Of course Clint Howard (Ron Howard's brother) has a role. How many actors can say they were in the original Star Trek and the new Star Wars? It was also great seeing Warwick Davis, especially since Howard first worked with Davis in the classic 1988 movie Willow.

Personally I like Rogue One and Solo more than the new Disney trilogy movies. Being a stand alone film, these movies can explore character and plot better than a multiprotagonist story dragged through three pictures. With Solo you can get in, meet the characters, have fun and get out. Of course like all movies of the modern era, Solo leaves itself open to sequal with a bit of a twist ending. One thing that is undeniable is the love put into this movie. There are so many easter

Ron Howard also draws from a lot of other great films to create this hip hop sci-fi mash up. There is a lot of "great" from the Great Train Robbery, but I would have used a little more "Spaghetti" for this Space Western, but at least Han shoots first. Solo also has a terrific cast of veterans and new faces. This film really returns to George Lucas's original world view. Don't trust the British! Solo is another great example of American space cowboy fighting against British Galactic Imperialism. Rounding out the cast is Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, as young Lando Calrissian. For his performance I'll only say this, "Lando's not a system. He's a man." Solo was a good movie but wasn't a hit at the box office. That's what happens when you have a Star Wars movie centered around a white guy. I'm personally waiting for "Rose: A Star Wars story". DJ Reid 420 is a Hollywood based writer and comedian. He’s also the creator of Black SpiderMan, the “Web” series at: blackspiderman.net

I think Ron Howard must have really liked Casino Royale, because his first Star Wars movie is almost identical to that of 007's origin story. If you you watch Daniel Craig's first James Bond movie you'll see a distinct similarity to the theme and pacing of the Solo movie. Gambling, Black best friend and betrayed by the leading lady, etc... Just like Casino Royale, the Solo movie is a well paced homage to all the other great franchise films of the past. I couldn't resist the temptation and saw Solo under the influence of a sativa dominant hybrid known as Skywalker OG, but I think Solo's five act pacing would be better served with a strong indica that won't put you to sleep. I recommend eating a good strong edible right after the train heist.

Oklahoma State Question 788 Passes But is OK Okay? Patrick Ian Moore

Oklahoma has passed State Question 788, The Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative making them the 30th state in the Union to legalize cannabis is some capacity. The results of the ballot were: 507, 582 (56.86%) voted yes against the no vote of 385,176 (43.14%) but some pretty strict stipulations followed soon after, being referred to as “Emergency Rules”, and on July 10th (710) of all days. The restrictions ban all forms of smokeable cannabis in dispensaries, meaning you can still grow at home if you’re able. It also limits the number of dispensaries in the state to 50, requires a pharmacist to be on site during all operating hours and prohibits doing business on Sunday, just like Chick-fil-A. The general counsel for the Oklahoma State Department Hughie Stonefish of Health faces criminal charges of falsely reporting a crime and creating a fictitious ProtonMail account to send herself threats over the agency’s work on the state’s new legalized medical cannabis program. Julie Ezell submitted her resignation from the Health Department, just hours after the filing of two lawsuits challenging the emergency rules approved by the state Board of Health on July 10th as a reaction to SQ 788. The fictitious threats Ezell sent to herself seemed designed to gain sympathy for the emergency rules and cast cannabis advocates in a bad light. Some examples read: “We will expose your corruption and evil. We would hate to hurt a pretty lady. You will hear us. We are just beginning.” “You impose laws like a dictator and respect none of them” “You appear distinguished in glasses. Wear them for the camera.” As nice as it is of her fake stalkers to call her a “pretty lady”, this whole affair does not bode well for the state. The emergency rules, the Department of Health’s attorney catfishing herself, and Oklahoma’s history of Draconian laws regarding anything cutting edge. Tattoos weren’t legalized there until 2006. I was born and raised in Oklahoma and I never once legally got a tattoo there. I’m glad voters from my home state are ready but I can’t help but think that the patients there must deserve better. We spoke to Whitney Wehmeyer the founder of the Tulsa Higher Care Clinic and she seems very optimistic, which is a great sign. They’re receiving over 1000 phone calls per day and the public interest and support is clearly there so let’s hope for the best. We are here and ready to help however we can. Issue 47 I Page 58

GW Pharma Gets FDA Approval for CBD Drug, DEA Will Reschedule by End of September B. Le Grand

We’ve been predicting this moment would happen years ago, and it’s finally here. On June 25th, 2018, GW Pharmaceuticals (GWPH) received their approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for their cannabis derived CBD drug Epidiolex. Procedurally, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has 90 days from the approval of a New Drug Application from the FDA, to reschedule the substance if it falls under the DEA’s purview of The Controlled Substances Act of 1970. You would think this is an amazing thing, but it comes with some caveats. If the DEA reschedules CBD to a Schedule II or Schedule III drug, it would have to be sold at pharmacies or in locations that have a pharmacist on staff. Descheduling would be the cannabis industry’s best chance, but GW Pharma didn’t submit for FDA approval so anyone could sell CBD anywhere. What it means for the cannabis industry is that the FDA will become the regulatory body of what was previously unregulated. Industrial hemp CBD will start to be taken off shelves as the FDA eventually pursues any manufacturer making CBD products with any claims, or selling CBD as a food or pet product. It means all CBD sold in licensed legal dispensaries will have to be made from whole plant cannabis extractions, not industrial hemp, which isn’t the most feasible or ideal situation for CBD companies. The drug was developed (and is now approved) to treat children as young as two years old with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, severe seizure disorders. Typically a New Drug Application takes 5 plus years to approve. GW Pharma’s application was fast tracked in less than 2 years. GW Pharma’s CEO, Justin Gover, said "many years" of work went into the approval. "Today's approval of Epidiolex is a historic milestone, offering patients and their families the first and only FDA-approved (cannabidiol) medicine to treat two severe, childhood-onset epilepsies," Gover said in a written statement. The GW team accepts and acknowledges they won’t be able to distribute or sell the drug until the DEA reschedules CBD, which is likely in the last fiscal quarter of the year. GW indicated they were undeterred planning to hire and train a field sales team while they await rescheduling. Ironically, following the approval announcement, GW Pharmaceuticals stock price tanked as low as 6% before closing at a 4% deficit at $144. In April of this year, GW was able to unanimously pass House Bill 1187, allowing the prescription and sale of Epidiolex in Colorado, effectively making it illegal to sell hemp CBD products in dispensaries or anywhere else, other than a pharmacy in the state. This is what's to come nationwide. Issue 47 I Page 61
