Imperial Faberge: Jewelers to the Tsar
Impressionism & Post-Impressionism
The greatest jewelers of all time are most closely associated with the Romanovs, the richest emperors of all time. Providing adornments for the tsarist court set fashions for the rest of the European royal families. The end of the Romanov empire might have terminated the ability to continue producing the delicate works but not the mystique. Two exhibits at The Museum of Russian Art illustrate the linkage of both; this PowerPoint presentation provides the background to understand their connections and the times that created the presence. A special tour of the TMORA exhibit will be scheduled at the time of the presentation. Instructor Carol Veldman Rudie

On Saturday, you will custom fit the grip to your personal specifications. You will shape the paddle, first using a bandsaw, then with traditional tools—a spokeshave and a draw knife—the same way artisans have been making paddles for centuries. What is TED? TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). On TED.com, TED is building a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world’s most inspired thinkers—and a community of curious souls eager to engage with ideas and each other, both online and at TED and TEDx events around the world, all year long.
What to expect at TEDxEdina? Imagine a day filled with brilliant speakers, thought-provoking video and mind-blowing conversation. Together, we will create a unique, community-building gathering that will unleash new ideas, inspire and inform.

Apply to Be a Speaker We’re curating a day of speakers with a single, welldefined idea worth sharing. Do you have a unique idea that will make our audience curious, brighten up our day, change perspectives for the better, or inspire us to do something differently? Email organizers@TEDxEdina for more information on the application process.
Join the Organizing Committee All TEDxEdina speakers and organizers are volunteers, passionate about the power of ideas to make our community–and our world–a better place.
