The Fringe Office has existed since 1958 and has been a registered charity since 1969. The Friends of the Fringe membership programme was conceived with the aim of providing continuing support for what is now the largest arts festival in the world.

Our mission is to provide a variety of services for performers and audiences alike, while also managing free events on the Royal Mile and at Fringe Sunday.

We here at the Fringe Office strive consistently to maintain our open access policy, ensuring anyone can take part in the festival without being subjectto artistic vetting or selection. This policy is key to the overall success of the Fringe and in its 60 years has meant thatwe can proudly present an annual programme featuring a wealth of newwriting and the hottest new talent from all over the world.

Everyyear the Fringe generates £75 million for the economy in Scotland, yetwe operate on a turnover of£ 1.4 million with public funding of£65,000. And that's whywe need the support ofour Friends.
