L A E UNR There are many mythological creatures the Greeks had written about, but one of the most famous is the Medusa. She was originally a very pretty and nice girl who promised to be always good and pure. She forgot about her promise and fell in love with the wrong guy. Her punishment for that was being turned into an ugly monster with snakes for hair. Her once beautiful skin was turned green. She became so ugly that any person who looked at her would turn into stone! She was so ugly that, even when her head got chopped off, it could still turn people to stone!
Loch Ness Monster (Scotland) In ancient Scotland, somebody thought he saw a monster out in the lake poised to attack and the legend of the Loch Ness Monster was born. The monster is one of the most famous evil-doers in all of Scotland. Some say it was first reported in AD 545 when it was scared away by a Catholic saint, but it continues to live on in Loch Ness. The legend of the Loch Ness Monster is so popular that Google has even dedicated a site and cameras to searching for a sighting of the monster. But they've had no luck yet!

C RE AT U RES Bigfoot (Sasquatch) (North America) In 1958, Jerry Crew found giant footprints in the mud out in the forest at Bluff Creek, California. When the newspapers found out about it, the legend of Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, arose. But the story starts centuries ago. The natives in North America had legends about a wild man in the forest who was put there to protect nature from humans. The Europeans that colonized North America adopted the Sasquatch legend. As it became more popularly known as Bigfoot, it lost its pleasant connotation, becoming known as a wild and fearsome ape-monster.
Unicorns (no speciďŹ c country) The myth of unicorns, which are traditionally white horses with one long horn coming out of their foreheads, has existed for ages. Nobody knows for sure where unicorns were first thought up. They are, however, inherently good. Rather than being fearsome monsters that punish and cause us harm, unicorns all throughout history have been loved and respected. According to legend, they are attracted to beautiful innocent maidens. These solitary animals are so docile, they will even come and sleep on the girls’ laps! They stand for all that is peaceful and good and their horns can save a person from being poisoned.
