15 anos depois da idealização de um grande sonho, aí está a 15ª edição da EDP Maratona do Porto! A paixão pela organização do evento fez desta maratona uma prova emblemática a nível nacional e internacional.

Desde primeira edição da EDP Maratona do Porto, a 17 de outubro de 2004, então com 317 atletas à partida, o evento tem vindo a registar um crescimento exponencial, sendo neste momento a maior maratona de Portugal. Este ano, a Federação Portuguesa de Atletismo escolheu a EDP Maratona do Porto como a prova que irá acolher o Campeonato Nacional de Maratona, o que nos deixa orgulhosos e com a certeza que a EDP Maratona do Porto é um evento com credibilidade reconhecido pelas instituições que dirigem a modalidade em Portugal. Para além desta novidade, o grau Bronze Label Road Race foi atribuído à EDP Maratona do Porto pela International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). A 15ª edição da EDP Maratona do Porto pertence agora ao calendário oficial da IAAF, uma distinção que a coloca como uma das melhores provas no circuito mundial das maratonas. A maratona portuense é também a única prova homologada pela IAAF e AIMS para tempos de acesso a campeonatos europeus, do mundo e jogos olímpicos. Queremos oferecer aos participantes as melhores condições para realizarem o sonho de completar os 42,195 km num cenário fantástico que une a frente atlântica num percurso rápido e plano. Correr com o calor humano da cidade, que nestes dias se transforma e vive em clima de festa o desporto. Este é um crescimento sustentado na organização, nos atletas, nos três municípios envolvidos, Porto, Matosinhos e Vila Nova de Gaia, nos patrocinadores e parceiros que sempre acreditaram neste projeto. Bem-vindos à 15ª edição da EDP Maratona do Porto! 15 years after the conception of a great dream, here comes the 15th edition of the EDP Porto Marathon!

The passion for organizing the event made this marathon an iconic competition at the national and international level. Since the first edition of the EDP Porto Marathon, on October 2004 ,17, which had 317 athletes at the starting line, the event has experienced exponential growth and is now the largest marathon in Portugal. This year, the Portuguese Athletics Federation selected the EDP Porto Marathon as the competition that will host the National Marathon Championship. We are very proud of this recognition of the credibility of the EDP Porto Marathon by the sport›s governing bodies in Portugal. In addition to this news, the EDP Porto Marathon was also conferred the title of Bronze Label Road Race by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The 15th edition of the EDP Porto Marathon now has a place on the official calendar of the IAAF, a distinction that ranks it as one of the best competitions on the global marathon circuit.

The EDP Porto Marathon is also the only Portuguese competition approved by the IAAF and AIMS for granting qualifying times to European and worldwide championships and Olympic games. We want to offer participants the best conditions to achieve their dreams of completing 42.195 km in a fantastic scenario that unites the Atlantic front in a fast and flat course. Running alongside the human warmth of the city, which is transformed by and celebrates the sport during these days. This event represents sustained growth in the organization, the athletes, the three municipalities involved–Porto, Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia–and in the sponsors and partners who always believed in this project.
