Florida’s Kevin Sunderman, CGCS, Elected Vice President
Kevin Sunderman, certified golf course superintendent (CGCS) and director of grounds at Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club in St. Petersburg, Fla., was elected vice president for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) at the association’s annual meeting in San Diego, Feb. 10. Sunderman was first appointed to the board in 2017. GCSAA is a leading golf organization in the United States. Its focus is on golf course management, and since 1926 GCSAA has been the top professional association for the men and women who manage golf courses in the U.S. and worldwide. From its headquarters in Lawrence, Kan., the association provides education, information, and representation to more than 19,000 members in more than 78 countries. The board sets the strategic direction for the association as it strives to serve its members, advance the profession, and enhance the growth, enjoyment, and vitality of the game of golf. Sunderman has been at Isla Del Sol since 2005, and he previously held superintendent or assistant superintendent positions at TPC at Prestancia in Sarasota, Fla.; Snee Farm Country Club in Mount Pleasant, S.C.; East Lake Woodlands Country Club in Oldsmar, Fla.; and Whetstone Golf Club in Caledonia, Ohio. He is a graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in turfgrass science. Sunderman has also earned an MBA from Florida Southern College. Sunderman is a 21-year member of GCSAA, a current member and past president of the Florida West Coast GCSA, and a past president of the Florida GCSA. He was also previously a board member for the Environmental Research and Education Foundation.
