Awaits Your Arrival
Believe it not, but many golfers who visit Georgia to play golf enjoy it so much that they end up buying a second home in Georgia or they actually move to Georgia. That’s the word from Mary Gasparini, vice-president of operations for Drake Realty, a Georgia-based real estate firm which specializes in catering to golfers who are looking to buy a home in Georgia.
According to Gasparini, the real estate-buying opportunities in Georgia are especially appealing to golfers from both inside and outside Georgia. And Drake Realty is uniquely positioned to cater to its golfing clientele as it has offices in Alpharetta, Peachtree City, Marietta, Stockbridge, Buckhead, Milledgeville, and Lake Oconee.
“In Georgia, golf is being played 12 months a year and that’s what home-buying golfers want,” said Gasparini. “People are moving to Georgia from as far away as California and New England. Georgia is a great place to live, especially for golfers.”
Golfers who purchase real estate by working with Drake Realty are virtually guaranteed to find what they want since there are many types of homes at a variety of price points on the market in Georgia which appeal to golfers.
“From the North Georgia Mountains to Atlanta to Lake Oconee to Savannah and the Atlantic coast, Drake Realty is the official real estate partner of the Georgia Golf Trail,” said Georgia Golf Trail Founder Doug Hollandsworth. “Drake Realty has a presence across Georgia and understands the real estate needs and demands of today’s golfers. It’s a relationship that works.”
While the COVID-19 pandemic
had a number of negative side effects on life and people’s lifestyles around the world, it actually had a positive impact on real estate sales in Georgia.
“Many people, especially golfers, have moved their primary home to their secondary home, which is on a golf course in Georgia,” noted Gasparini. “It (the pandemic) gave people a chance to live where they worked. Nowadays, people want more green space which is what a golf course provides.”
According to Gasparini, homebuying golfers are looking for a location with four seasons, access to hospital facilities, and proximity to a major airport. Georgia meets those criteria.
One of the more popular real estate buying destinations in Georgia is at Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia.
According to Gasparini, there are a wide variety of price points along Lake Oconee.
“In the greater Lake Oconee area, homes range from $300,000 to $7,000,000,” added Gasparini. “Other appealing aspects of the greater Greensboro area is its close proximity to the Atlanta airport, its historic appeal, and the active lifestyle by current residents, which includes playing tennis and enjoying life near the lake.”
In addition to playing golf, residents along Lake Oconee are fishing, boating, playing tennis and playing pickleball.
And, when big golf tournaments in Georgia are seen on television, Gasparini’s phone starts ringing.
“Real estate sales do pick up after big golf events like the Masters Augusta and the Tour Championship in Atlanta,” admitted Gasparini. “This (Georgia) is a great place to live.”
