• Place 2nd Web Down From Top

RETAINER CLIPS: (QUANTITY) • - 8’0” = 2 Per Furring Assembly • 8’0” – 12’0” = 3 Per Furring Assembly • + 12’0” = 4 Per Furring Assembly


HOBBS VICF – COMPONENT ASSEMBLY CORNER ASSEMBLIES Align All Components From Bottom - ½” In Length (Furring Assemblies & Metal)

Use ¾” - 1” SelfTapping Sheet Metal Screws

Install (1) Screw @ Bottom Furring Assembly & Install (1) Screw @ Every Other Web (Every 18” o.c.)

Install Horizontal Strapping @ 16” o.c. Inside Corner EPS & Metal


HOBBS VICF – COMPONENT ASSEMBLY WINDOW & DOOR BUCKS • 2x10 Treated or Wrapped w/ Moisture Barrier (Ideally Ripped Down to 9 1/8”) • Install Temporary Cross Bracing

• Use Treated 2x6 Ripped in Half & Spread Apart @ Window Sill For Concrete Slot • Install Squaring Block

Cut EPS Panels To Exact Length Below Window Cutting Furring Assemblies (- ½” Less Than EPS): • Bottom of Sill: Pull Dimension From Bottom & Cut • Top: Pull Dimension From Top & Cut: Leave Top Open Until Very Last (Pulling Dimension from Either Top Down or Bottom Up Will Ensure Webs Align)

• Install (2) Retainer Clips Above & Below Window & Door Assemblies

• Fasten Furring Assembly To Buck @ Proper Elevation w/ Screws or Nails


HOBBS VICF - COMPONENT ASSEMBLY WINDOW & DOOR BUCKS Install Horizontal Strapping Before Placing Window/Door Assemblies

Leave Lintel Open For Stirrup Installation After Walls Are Assembled

HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION LAYOUT After Squaring and Placing Chalk-Line for Perimeter of Building, Mark the Footing or Slab For The Following: • Window & Door Locations

• Contour Wall vs. Flat Wall Transitions for Beam Pockets ect.

HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION REBAR INSTALLATION – DOWELS Install Rebar As Follows: See Engineering For Specific Rebar Spacing, Size and Location • Install Dowels in Center of Wall @ Footing/Slab

(Typically, 12” Dowels w/ 6” In and 6” Out of Concrete)

(Spread-Footing)

(Top of Wall)


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION REBAR INSTALLATION – AT FOOTING or SLAB Install Rebar As Follows: See Engineering For Specific Rebar Spacing, Size and Location • Tie Horizontal Rebar to Dowels Above Top of Footing or Slab (Typically, 3” Above Concrete)

• Tie Corner Bars to Dowels or Horizontal Rebar (Typically, Corner Rebar is 4’0” Bent @ 90 Degrees


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION ANGLE BASE @ Slab-on-Grade (This Application: Install Both Inside & Outside Angle Base Before Walls Are Assembled

1” Concrete Nail (w/Washer) @ 18” o.c. spacing & Avoid Concrete Slab Edge To Prevent Blowing Out Concrete

Angle Base @ Interior & Exterior of Wall (w/Flanges Inverted)


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION ANGLE BASE @ Spread-Footing (Install Outside Angle Base First Then Inside As Walls Are Assembled)

1” Concrete Nail (w/Washer) @ 18” o.c. spacing

1.5”x1.5” Angle Base @ Interior & Exterior of Wall (w/Flange outward)


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION ANGLE BASE @ Outside Corners (Extra Fasteners Needed)

Install Extra Fasteners on Angle Base @ Outside Corner Locations (Inverted Angle Shown – Applies To Both Applications)


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION VERTICAL REBAR INSTALLATION Pre-Load Vertical Rebar As Follows:

See Engineering For Specific Rebar Spacing, Size and Location

• Set Up Station to Pre-Load Vertical Rebar Using Retainer Clips for Staging Number of Retainer Clips per Furring Assembly: (2) each from Length up-to 7’11” (3) each from 8’0” up-to 11’0” (4) each from 11’1” up-to 15’0”

• Place Vertical Rebar in Either “Center” or “Offset” Position in Retainer Clip

Damage May Occur If Pre-Loaded Furring Assemblies are Left Stacked


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION HORIZONTAL REBAR INSTALLATION Install Horizontal Rebar As Follows: See Engineering For Specific Rebar Spacing, Size and Location • Determine Wall Span: Example: 30’ Wall Span = 20’ Rebar Length + 10’ Length +2’ Over-Lap = 12’ Rebar Length

• Assembly Walls and Slide-In Horizontal Rebar Using Rebar Holders

Install Horizontal Rebar As Follows:

See Engineering For Specific Rebar Spacing, Size and Location

• Bend Corner Rebar @ 90 Degree’s and Install Per Engineering

• Start Wall Assembly From Corner or Tee Walls


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION REBAR INSTALLATION - LINTELS Installing Rebar At Lintels: See Engineering For Specific Rebar Spacing, Size and Location

• Install Lower Horizontal Rebar Just Above Window & Door Bucks Before Finishing Wall Assembly on Either Side of Openings • Issue: If Lower Horizontal Rebar is Not Installed it Will Be Difficult to Install Later • Leave EPS Panels Out Until Last So Top Bar Can Be Installed With Stirrups After Top Bar is Installed


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION SETTING CORNER ASSEMBLIES

Use 1x4 or 2x4 for Inverted Kickers @ Approx. 45 Degree Angle Down to Angle Base

Plumb Corner Assemblies & Install Inverted Kickers

Using a Level - Plumb Corner Assemblies & Install Inverted Kickers

Attach Inverted Kicker to Angle Base Add Concrete Nail to Angle Base to Prevent Lifting

Stage EPS Panels & Furring Assemblies w/Rebar Pre-Loaded


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION WALER OPTIONS

Waler Fasteners: #9 or Larger “Course Thread” Construction Screws (Torx Head Preferred)

• Waler Type #1: 2 – 2x4’s • Waler Type #2: 1x4 & 2x4 • Waler Type #3: 1 – 2x4 on Edge

Purpose: Straightening & Aligning Walls

Pull Panels Tight to Remove Any Gaps & Attach Waler Set Torque to Prevent Over-Rotating and Stripping Furring Assemblies

Using Tape Measurer - Check O.C. Spacing (Often)

Using a Level Check Furring Assemblies For Plumb (Often)


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION WALER INSTALLATION

Waler Position: Outside of Wall

• Install Waler Near Top of Wall on One Side of Wall Either Inside or Outside of Wall • If Waler Installed on Inside Be Sure to Position to Avoid Floor Ledger Hardware

Waler Position: Inside of Wall

Begin EPS Panel Installation From Corners

Install Waler Near Top of Wall – Avoid Where Floor Hardware Will Be Attached

Check Furring Assemblies for Plumb (Often)


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION WALL ASSEMBLY – STUCCO READY PANELS Set Table Saw “Fence” & Rip “Flat Wall” Panel to Width Set Blade Depth 1 ¼” for Stucco Ready Groove & Cut

Remove 1/16” of Panel Edge


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION TEE & BUTTRESS WALLS See Engineering For Rebar Schedule

Tee Wall Panels Require Support Strap Every 16” O.C. on Both Sides of Tee Wall

Install Horizontal Strap to 2x10 Bulkhead @ Buttress Wall


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION TEMPORARY BRACING Short Off-Sets: Install Horizontal Strapping @ 16” o.c. (Both Sides of Wall)

Or

“X” Bracing With OSB or 1x (Both Sides of Wall)

Inverted Kickers: Screws @ Each Furring Assembly

Install Strapping Where Not Supported to Prevent Twisting During Concrete Placement


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION LEVEL TO LEVEL ALIGNMENT Min. ½” OSB Strapping: Install 12” Strapping Centered Between Levels To Align Walls


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION BEAM POCKETS

Location: Top of Wall @ Corner Blocked Out w/2X – Later Remove

Location: With-In Wall Blocked Out w/2X Bottom Left Open For Concrete


HOBBS VICF – INSTALLATION STRING-LINE WALL SPANS Use 1x or OSB Spacer @ Corners and String-Line As Point-of-Reference

Check Wall Spans For Alignment-Before & After The Concrete Placement
