THE LORD WHO MADE THE PROMISE IS FAITHFUL. God chose Abraham over 2,000 years before Jesus was born. It was God's will that the seed of Abraham bless the whole world and that his seed, as numerous as the stars of heaven. To begin with, Abraham believed in the promise of God. Years passed by! Legitimate doubts arose! Abraham was one hundred years old and his wife, Sarah, ninety years. God promised a son to the couple. The Savior, Jesus Christ, was to be born through their son. IS THERE ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD? : But there was a biological impediment. Abraham could not help but laugh: Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? (Genesis 17:17). Sarah laughed, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? (Genesis 18:12). However, the Lord countered their ridicule with the question: Is anything too hard for the Lord? (Gen. 18:13). However, dramatic events ensued. CONTRADICTORY CIRCUMSTANCES:
EL SEÑOR QUE HIZO LA PROMESA ES FIEL. Dios eligió a Abraham más de 2000 años antes de que naciera Jesús. Era la voluntad de Dios que la simiente de Abraham bendijera al mundo entero y que su simiente, tan numerosa como las estrellas del cielo. Para empezar, Abraham creyó en la promesa de Dios. ¡Pasaron los años! ¡Surgieron dudas legítimas! Abraham tenía cien años y su esposa Sara noventa. Dios prometió un hijo a la pareja. El Salvador, Jesucristo, iba a nacer a través de su hijo. ¿HAY ALGO DEMASIADO DIFÍCIL PARA EL SEÑOR?: Pero hubo un impedimento biológico. Abraham no pudo evitar reír: Entonces Abraham se postró sobre su rostro, y se rió, y dijo en su corazón: ¿A hombre de cien años ha de nacer hijo? ¿Y Sara, ya de noventa años, ha de concebir? (Génesis 17:17). Se rió, pues, Sara entre sí, diciendo: ¿Después que he envejecido tendré deleite, siendo también mi señor ya viejo? (Génesis 18:12). Sin embargo, el Señor respondió a su burla con la pregunta: ¿Hay para Dios alguna cosa difícil? (Génesis 18:13). Sin embargo, se produjeron acontecimientos dramáticos. CIRCUNSTANCIAS CONTRADICTORIAS:
The promise was not only delayed, but the biological impediments extended the waiting period. In the interim, an apocalyptic type of event took place. A loud cry went up to the heavens against the sinful cities, Sodom and Gomorrah! Now the cities must be destroyed, and the sinful inhabitants annihilated.
La promesa no solo se retrasó, sino que los impedimentos biológicos ampliaron el período de espera. Mientras tanto, tuvo lugar un evento de tipo apocalíptico. ¡Un gran clamor subió a los cielos contra las ciudades pecadoras, Sodoma y Gomorra! Ahora las ciudades deben ser destruidas y los habitantes pecadores aniquilados.
Further, something goes wrong with Abraham. Pretending to be Sarah's sister, he almost lost his wife to a stranger. Then the promises of God were hanging by a thread. What a surprise! In the precarious and incredible circumstances, the Word says: And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him (Gen. 21: 1-2).
Además, algo sale mal con Abraham. Fingiendo ser la hermana de Sarah, casi pierde a su esposa por culpa de un extraño. Entonces las promesas de Dios pendían de un hilo. ¡Qué sorpresa! En las circunstancias precarias e increíbles, la Palabra dice: Visitó Jehová a Sara, como había dicho, e hizo Jehová con Sara como había hablado. Y Sara concibió y dio a Abraham un hijo en su vejez, en el tiempo que Dios le había dicho (Génesis 21: 1-2).
HOW CAN THIS BE? : Two thousand years passed. Again, a similar situation! The birth of the Son of God is announced to the Virgin Mary. It is about the Savior of the World. That Savior must appear in the lineage of Abraham and Sarah. Here is Mary's skeptical question: How shall this be? (Luke 1:37). UNFAVORABLE CONDITIONS: Confused, Mary seeks refuge in Elizabeth, her relative. Now, Joseph also wants to put away Mary secretly. Coupled with the problems was the political turmoil. Augustus' command to register for citizenship. The Romans ruled the country and its people and turned everything upside down. The words that came out through Elizabeth in these difficult situations were: And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord (Luke 1:45). Thus, God proved His faithfulness. Human limitations cannot stand in the way of His infinite power. THE ONLY ANSWER TO THE PRESENT UNCERTAIN TIMES: Even our world is plagued by political turmoil and natural disasters. The world is laughing at us. Unseen hardships and difficulties in the lives of many. There are times when we are left wondering what to do. There are times when we are perplexed and wonder if God has a chance to fulfill His promises. The scripture's only answer to the present uncertain times is "The Lord who made the promise is faithful (Hebrews 10:23). Nothing to say further! Do you believe it?
¿CÓMO PUEDE SER ESTO?: Pasaron dos mil años. Una vez más, ¡una situación similar! Se anuncia a la Virgen María el nacimiento del Hijo de Dios. Se trata de El Salvador del mundo. Ese Salvador debe aparecer en el linaje de Abraham y Sara. Aquí está la pregunta escéptica de María: ¿Cómo será esto? (Lucas 1:34). CONDICIONES DESFAVORABLES: Confundida, María busca refugio en Isabel, su pariente. Ahora, José también quiere repudiar a María en secreto. Junto con los problemas estaba la agitación política. Orden de Augustos de registrarse para la ciudadanía. Los romanos gobernaron el país y su gente y pusieron todo patas arriba. Las palabras que salieron a través de Isabel en estas situaciones difíciles fueron: Y bienaventurada la que creyó, porque se cumplirá lo que le fue dicho de parte del Señor. (Lucas 1:45). Por tanto, Dios demostró su fidelidad. Las limitaciones humanas no pueden interponerse en el camino de Su poder infinito. LA ÚNICA RESPUESTA A LOS ACTUALES TIEMPOS DE INCERTIDUMBRE: Incluso nuestro mundo está plagado de agitación política y desastres naturales. El mundo se ríe de nosotros. Hay penurias y dificultades invisibles en la vida de muchos. Hay momentos en los que nos quedamos sin saber qué hacer. Hay momentos en los que estamos perplejos y nos preguntamos si Dios tiene alguna posibilidad de cumplir sus promesas. La única respuesta de las Escrituras a los tiempos inciertos actuales es: "El Señor que hizo la promesa es fiel" (Hebreos - 10:23). ¡Nada más que decir! ¿Lo crees?
