The project “Sobre Batán, vivir al límite de la A-5”, arises from the detection of a problem. A transformation that focuses on the four blocks that adjoin the road separated by a sidewalk of 1 and a half meters, and that will go through the reconnection under the freeway with the neighborhood faced, the union of the only two roads rolled through a half-closed parking, the conversion of some housing lows into commercial lows, allowing greater freedom and connection with the public space on the ground floor as well as providing a better barrier to road noise and creating a new square for the neighborhood, which reorders the public space collecting the main pedestrian ways, giving a new image to the main space of the Colony.

Action on the 4 blocks that surround the A-5: A renovation of the blocks is designed through the proposition of a more free floor of the dwellings, where a central nucleus as a furniture solves the technical aspects without moving the skates of building facilities. The north facade, facing the colony, is resolved with a more domestic scale while in the south façade a glass and steel constructive system is proposed that brings a new space to the houses and unifies them with the public space superior behind a public facade towards the highway.

Creation of a new structure on the blocks: It proposes a large horizontal metallic structure of constant height, which rests on the four blocks and houses a public program of support to the neighborhood, so it is connected directly with the ground plane through some nuclei of communication slightly out of phase with respect to the north facade. This structure is related differently to each of the blocks, since each has a different height and are placed in a section of 365 meters in length and 17 meters of difference in height. This is why the structure embraces the last floor of the first building to the west, is placed on the roof of the next, and generates a mezzanine in the last two blocks, which are hidden behind the glass facade of the houses.
