THE GAME
TITANFALL Titanfall is a 2014 first-person shooter multiplayer video game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts exclusively for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The game was released for Windows and Xbox One on March 11, 2014, with an Xbox 360 release to follow in April. Respawn was formed in 2010 by the co-founders of Infinity Ward, the development studio behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The company announced Titanfall as their debut game at Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference. In Titanfall, players compete in six-on-six online multiplayer-only matches set on a war-torn planet, playing as mech-style Titans and their pilots. The game’s action is fast-paced: as pilots, players can run along walls and link jumps together parkour-style, as well as employ special abilities such as cloaking; as Titans, players are equipped with more destructive armaments and special protective shields. Several gameplay elements were designed to increase the game’s accessibility, such as a locking pistol, the supplementing of each team with weak AI bots for easier kills, and temporary power-ups. Respawn describes the game as bringing “scale, verticality, and story” to first-person shooter multiplayer gaming, incorporating elements traditionally used in single-player campaigns. The game uses Microsoft’s cloud computing services to offload non-player activity to servers and optimize the home computer for graphical performance. The game won over 60 awards at its E3 reveal, including a recordbreaking six E3 Critics Awards, and Best of Show from several media outlets. It also won official awards at Gamescom and the Tokyo Game Show. Many reviewers predicted Titanfall to be the next step for the first-person shooter genre, and IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey declared the game “Microsoft’s killer app”. The game received “very positive” reviews, according to video game review score aggregator Metacritic. Reviewers praised the game’s pilot–Titan balance and overall accessibility for players of all skill sets.

April’s Live Music
BY BAREFOOT WADE
April is going to be a crazy month for live music! First of all, the annual “Pirate Fest” will be happening on April 11 and 12. Bob Marley’s back up band The Wailers will be coming to Greenville to play this occasion. Also that same weekend, Widespread Panic will be playing in Wilmington at the Azaela Festival. It’s going to be a tough call for me personally which one I will attend. However, a couple weeks later I will be attending the Jimmy Buffett concert in Raleigh. As for the downtown music scene, Pheasant Pub will be bringing some familar bands back around town. On April 4, The BIG Something will be returning to the stage and the next night Deluge will be playing as well. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, a well known funk and party band, will be coming around on Thursday, April 10. Two days later, local favorite David Dixon will be tearing up some rock and blues there as well. On April 20, Those Meddling Kids will be playing their weekly Sunday show. If you are able to pry yourself off the couch that day, I recomend you check them out. On a similar note, the Reggae band Signal Fire will be doing a two day show with Dubtown Cosmonauts on April 25 and 26. Hope to see you out!

LIFE
The Wonderful World of Seacret BY BRIAN GOINGS It’s Spring time again and it’s time to start rolling out the shorts and t-shirts, tanks, and flip flops. It’s time to start enjoying the sun and the warm weather because winter has had it’s share of “good times” and now we must make way for the heat waves and sun tans. But with all of that I can only wonder how many of you have taken care of your skin. I know of some people who say they only use lotion or other moisturizers in the summer because that is when they will show off their legs. Don’t you know that your skin is the most important organ of your body? Your skin protects all of the other organs within your body and if you don’t protect it, you are asking for future organ failure. Now if you have really bad eczema or psoriasis I can understand you covering up during the summer…or do you? That is where Seacret comes into play. The products from this company are amazing. They are all natural and they come from the dead sea. 12 out of the 26 minerals used to make them come directly out of the dead sea. Most importantly, there are no parabens in any of the products. Parabens, in short, are what I like to call preservatives for products. They make the shelf life of the product last, but in return some cause people to have allergic reactions to the products or even cause
cancer. Seacret does not believe in putting such harmful things in their products for that very reason. There are products such as the mud soap that helps get rid of acne and it evens out your skin tone. If you know someone who has lots of blemishes I guarantee that this soap will help get rid of them. There are many facial creams that help get rid of wrinkles and dark circle’s around the eyes. There are creams that get rid of wrinkles on your face in 15min. There are salt scrubs, body butters, and many different types of masks that will help detoxify your skin and leave your face and body feel truly clean and hydrated. I saw online where a lady cleared up eczema on her arms with a salt scrub and body butter!! They even have a shampoo for those who may suffer from having a dry scalp. You name the product and they have it. Guys don’t trip over the fact this is a “beauty tip” because what girl you know wants to date a guy with bad skin? I will wait…. Ok times up. There are products for men like the Men’s face wash and lotion, but the best prod-
uct is the after shave balm. I had to use an emergency shave and use a razor blade and I broke out with hundreds of razor bumps. Well I applied the aftershave balm onto my face to see if it works and instantly my face stopped burning. I later found out that the balm inserts oxygen to those areas and that’s what help relieves the burn. I’m telling you if you are looking for a way to enjoy the summer without fear of someone spotting your blemishes or dry skin, then you should definitely try out these products. If you meet someone and they tell you that they are a Seacret Agent then you stop them and listen to what they have to say. If you want to test out the products to see how they work you can. Just contact me atbrian_b_g@yahoo. com and I will connect you to the right people. If you rather read about the products, you can do that as well. Go to seacretdirect.com/burgoindst and you will see everything that they have to offer.

Don’t be an April’s Fool! By: Brian Goings
A lot of people lately have been hung up on the search for love and trying to find that special someone but are not ready. In fact, we each have experienced love in some form or fashion be it parental, sibling, child, friend and yes even a pet. People should realize that love is there, just not the companion. So for your search for “love” you need to start looking for your companion. In finding your companion(s) you can find that special someone. The one that makes you smile just from the thought of them. The one you hear the music playing in the back ground and the birds and butterflies start flying around your head. BAM! Now that you are back to reality... know that you can’t get what you are not giving. Are you really making yourself available for someone to show you that they care and want to love on you. People jump in and out of relationships so fast that they don’t
g-vegasmagazine | 13
heal and all that baggage is brought to a new person and with the baggage comes the drama and fights that doesn’t need to be there. When was the last time you told yourself that you loved yourself? Have you gone on a date with yourself, treat yourself to a special occasion and get a chance to re-know yourself so that you will know what makes you happy and what makes the real you shine. All of these things will help you determine if you are really ready for that next relationship. It will allow you to not settle for something less than you want and it will let you deny those that try to make you change who you are. It is that bullet proof vest that will help you turn your back on those who try to force themselves on you. People will do that when they see that you are vulnerable. The other part of loving is
forgiving. You need to forgive those who have hurt you so that you can let go of the hurt and anger that you fester up within your mind. If you don’t, whoever this new guy or girl is will reap the whiplash that they do not deserve because they don’t know what is going on. Love should not hurt but it does because people love in their own interpretation of what it is and try to mold it to what they think it should be. If you will just let love be what it is and just flow with it then you can live a happy life with whomever. The next time you think about love...make sure you that you are love acceptance ready and not love receptive ready. Make sure you can handle what you are saying that you are looking for because when you do you will find what you are looking for.

IRVINES FINAL ENCORE BY CHRISTINA BOGART
IRVINE is a very well known name in Greenville for anyone who was part of the live music scene in the late 2000s.... nominated for best NC Alternative Rock band by JNFE (Just Not Famous Enough) as well as best breakthrough artist 99.5 “the X” WXNR also voted them #1 local Rock band Just one year into their career In Jan 2009 they began to receive air time on central and western NC radio helping IRVINE continue on its quest to reach the masses with a more then impressive live stage performance. If you ever see them live one time you were sure to have came back again. I spoke to Lucas Owens the Lead singer who at the time of their creation was still in high school. At only the age of 17 his vocals were as progressed as a seasoned proffesional and only got better as the years went on making them a force to be reckoned with in the local scene. I always wondered where they came up with the name just as I do with many artist. I love hearing the background story behind it. “I visited a city in California called Irvine. I felt at home there. I brought the name back to the guys and we decided to let it stay. After looking into the name a bit more, we found that it stems from a native American word meaning to see ones soul through their eyes.” The name sorta just stuck with the guys, Lucas had thought of another one he really liked “Out from under” but turns out it was already taken. I asked him about what he considered IRVINES “style” his response was “I guess because it’s how we grew up. From what I remember, modern music during my childhood was the”90s music we miss so much today” the grunge scene. Seattle. And then moving toward the
millennium we were introduced to bands like Korn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, and incubus. Yes all these bands were very much alive in the early 90s as well...notice I said moving toward the millennium.. but they were harder to hear at that point if that makes sense. So combining sounds that we had heard all of our lives was easy.. I think the first album shows a lot of that. With our second, EP, there’s definitely more progressive, straight forward, “this is how we sound” riffs and melodies going on.. that’s the thing about making music, if you try to sound a certain way, your doing it wrong. Favorite Irvine song of all time for myself would have to be “Evident Predictment” ... “I really like “run” Lucas told Gvegas Magazine “It’s currently unreleased. But there’s live footage of it somewhere. I would assume the internet haha” “When it comes to covers I feel like it has to be a song you actually enjoy playing and listening to. Not something you hate all around and play it bc someone else likes it. Like Freebird.. mad respect, but please. Stop. Playing. It. Favorite cover... anything Rage Against The Machine I’ve ever done. 2008 Gvegas Magazine Released a Christmas album with 13 local artists doing their own versions of Christmas classics “Haha oooohh the Christmas album. That was one of the coolest things we’ve ever been a part of. Being in the studio with other talent that you normally wouldn’t be. Bands outside if your genre and scene. It was awesome. Diverse. And a learning experience. And of course sharing the studio with Matt and Barry (from Nashville recording artist Parmalee) is always fun. “We were signed to an indie label (fillament)
from 2009 - 2012. During those years I got a good idea of what it was like to never see your family friends or girlfriend, and hardly sleep. I can imaging how difficult Kidd could be on a much larger national scale rather than regional. But, my family and wife understand future opportunity and know that if that opportunity comes I will take it. And they’re supportive. So I love them all for that.” A few years back I interviewed Lucas and Tripp and it never got published due to magazine conflicts but that night sticks out in my night as one of my best memeories with them, we sat up just Jamming in their little apartment in downtown Greenville playing IRVINE originals and covers. Lucas spoke of a more public moment, “My favorite show memory would have to be going to a venue in SC. We had recently been signed and bought a tour bus before hitting the road. We had managed to be played on rock radio in over 25 states, sc being one of them. Upon arriving to the venue, we were asked for autographs and pictures, the place was packed, they knew our songs, and we did work..we threw down that night. Great experience.” Sadly the time has come for the Last memories to be made. IRVINE is having a FAREWELL show at LIVE (2120 East Fire Tower Road Greenville, NC 27858 252-756-8474) on April 25th. The show begins at 9pm. Tickets will be 12.00 at the door and 10 in advance (at Live or onwww.ticketmaster.com) You can be sure to expect your Favorite covers and originals from the guys. This will for sure be a show not to miss. and make sure you pick up some Irvine Merchandise while there!!!! you never know it just may be your last chance.

East Carolina Raiders SEMI-PRO FOOTBALL TEAM BY DAVID JURY
“I firmly believe that on a man’s finest hour is when he has played his heart out...and lies exhausted on the field-victorious” Vince Lombardi
lasts through June. Clad in purple jerseys and black pants, the Raiders hope to go all the way through to the Playoffs, Conference Championship, League Championship and to the “Super Bowl” National Championship!
A semi-pro football team, The East Carolina Raiders will call Greenville home coming January 2015. The Raiders are a new team, established May 2012 and are looking forward to taking football to another level in our city. Vice President Marty Pittman and his son have created a powerful team of staff and graduated players from college, community college and high-school who are looking to continue playing, bringing their passion and talent for football. “I think it is something that Greenville needs and wants” Pittman said. The Raiders play in the 14 team-southern division of the East Coast Football Association (ECFA). They will play teams from Delaware to South Carolina to Florida and have recently won against their rivals, The Carolina Ducks (Wilson, NC). The season starts in January and
An open try out and by word of mouth, the team collected 90 players from across the state, and with the help of former pirate Coach Mark Washington, rigorously narrowed the team down to 60. Currently the team are holding home games at the Greene County Rec. Complex in Snow Hill, NC but will be playing home turf in Greenville at JH Rose High School Field on Arlington Blvd. Games will be $7adults, $5kids, $5students, and kids 8 and under will be free. “I want the semi-pro, its reputation, on the map like it should be. I said that if I did start a team, I would do it right.” Pittman said. For more information about the team go to www.eastcarolinaraiders.com Photo by Joseph

From the underground to the mainstream, the EDM craze has begun to take hold of the music scene in a big and powerful way. While electronic dance music has been around for years, the phenomenon has slowly crept into today’s most popular tunes and led everyone to the once little known experience of raves. With sampling put into artist’s music such as Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, and One Republic, there is a style for everyone (Trap, House, Dubstep, Trance etc.). While the music is an experience in and of itself, the best part, according to several local rave goers, is the people you meet. “It’s a feeling of unbelievable shared happiness,” says Eric Davenport. Eric, a local event planner for Suite 160, collaborated on last year’s first big rave in the Greenville area called Light the Night. The success of the event got me curious as to what the hype was about. Since then, I have met so many people that spend all of their free time bouncing from event to event purely for the enjoyment and freedom

that comes along with being a raver. Making personalized bracelets called “kandi” becomes a daily routine. Learning how to glove, poi, or hoop is a skill you strive to acquire. It’s a lifestyle. The lights and the bass mix together to create a life-changing atmosphere. “I can feel it throughout my entire body,” Erick Castillo says of the feeling he gets when the bass drops from the speakers. People will go almost anywhere to get their next fix. And with EDM festivals popping up all over the country, raving has made its way from the underground to the forefront of today’s music scene. From the much larger events like New York’s upcoming Electric Daisy Festival on Memorial Day weekend to more local events like Drop !t-featuring Seven Lions at The Fillmore in Charlotte, EDM is taking over and making waves. Look for reviews of raves in the future or check one out for yourself. It’s sure to change your life.
