GENERAL INTENSIVE

Study your chosen language as you travel with an EF Leader. Practice what you’ve learned during organized excursions, events and activities.

Enjoy interactive language practice with lessons taught by teachers from the local area.

Study two extra lessons per day compared with a General course, helping you to progress even faster – with the support of the local teacher in the classroom and the local leader outside.

You’ll be taught by both <market> and local language teachers using our specially-designed Go! book series. Includes teacher-led group work, roleplays, debates and real world tasks such as ordering in cafés and playing interactive games. As a final project, you’ll undertake a creative challenge.

Your lessons will combine language practice with group challenges, games, navigating the city and two iPad lessons per week in the UK and Australia. You’ll explore language through activities, discussions, debated and group projects. Show what you’ve learned by completing a final multimedia project at the end of your course.

Accommodation

The General Intensive curriculum brings language learning to life through interactive games, activities outside the classroom, four iPad lessons per week in the UK and Australia, and a final multimedia project. CLASS Style Though all of the courses listed above are classroom-based and teacher-led, EF’s Action Learning approach is highly interactive and focuses on conversation. Your teachers make use of games, role-plays and group work to bring the language to life. Study visits and excursions get you out in the real world to use the language.

WHAT IS INCLUDED? Adventure is included in your course, thanks to a full schedule of fun daily activities like theme nights, sports matches and sightseeing tours organized for you by us.

EF ALL THE WAY Your EF experience starts even before you leave home. Our staff and course consultants will give parents and children alike all the information and support needed before leaving, and we will stay with you throughout the trip until you are back home again.

Course consultants Before leaving, EF staff with personal experience and great knowledge of your destination will be available to answer any questions and give you all the information you need. Visa handling EF will handle all necessary Visa applications, with great respect of your privacy and personal data.

Pre-departure meeting Parent and students will be invited to a pre-departure meeting where our experts give you all the details and prepare you for the new culture you are about to explore.

1. PRE-DEPARTURE

Pre-departure language test You will be given a test to check your current skills in the language you are about to study, all to help you learn the most during the course. 4. RETURN

Return home Your group leader will continue traveling with you on the way back to your home country. From departure to your return, EF will be with you all the way.

Achieve! Ambassadors When you return you are forever part of the global EF family. The experience continues with a reunion party and you will be invited to become an EF ambassador, with a chance to earn points and win prizes.

Departure and flight At the airport you will be met by the leader that will accompany you through the duration of your entire trip. Our leaders have all been recruited and trained through a thorough EF leader-training program. Arrival at the destination At the airport you will be welcomed by our local team, with great experience in the place of your studies. Orientation After arrival an introductory orientation will be given at your school. Staff and teachers will welcome you and tell you everything you need to know about the school, the studies, activities and surroundings.

2. THE TRIP

Accommodation Whether you are staying in a residence or with a host family, all accommodation has been carefully selected by EF. Host families Many years of experience in selecting host families insure a great experience and immersion in the local culture. You will always stay with another student of your age in the same family. Residence Live together with students from other nationalities, you group and leaders and enjoy the feeling of the dorm experience.

3. LESSONS Activities Our local staff prepare a number of activities that will give you a better understanding of the culture and a chance to interact with other students from all over the world. Your leader will join the activities to supervise you and your friends of the group.

Methodology The EF Efekta learning system is our innovative methodology to help you learn more, faster. Our innovative approach to blended teaching techniques means you spend your class time with inspired teachers and focusing on practicing the language in real-world situations.

Weekend excursions Whichever destination you chose EF organizes a number of excursions that will give you the chance to see all the local landmarks and places of interest of the surrounding area.

Exam All our courses abroad end with our students taking a specially designed examination to assess their new language level. The test is based on EFSET; an adaptive English test developed by EF.

Curriculum Based on your score in the predeparture test, your EF teachers will place you in a group with students on the same level or together with the students travelling in the same group as you. The curriculum will be adjusted for maximum progress. Textbooks The textbooks used in your courses are specially designed and developed by EF for effective learning in short-term, abroad programs. The EF teachers are all trained to the highest standards.
