What is a Gap Year? Research shows that taking a year off from school is not only an incredible opportunity for self-discovery, but can also impact future academic performance, employability, and global awareness. Many universities now encourage incoming freshman to consider a gap year to become more thoughtful and mature members of society.

On a gap year you can...* • Explore new interests and life skills through hands on learning and immersion • Learn about yourself to build confidence and independence • Prepare for college, explore a possible major, or earn credit to apply to a current or future degree • Discover a culture totally different from your own while developing understanding • Set yourself apart from the competition in a future career • Build an international network of friends from around the globe • Participate in an internship or volunteer abroad • Connect classroom study with the real world • Become a citizen of the world

There’s a place just around the corner from my host family and it sells the most delicious macaroons.

Study at our picturesque It’s a cliche, but it’s true: Parisians love hanging out at sidewalk cafés. schools

Andrea’s Year in Paris “It takes a while to get a hang of the Metro. It’s a big jumble of tunnels and stairs and people rushing off to work or school or some party in La Bastille. It was intimidating at first – but I found my happy place in the Gare Montparnasse.”

The Eiffel Tower looks even more beautiful up close.

I love browsing the bookseller stands that line the Seine – you never know what you’ll find.

The city has replaced a lot of the old Metro signs - but there are still a few in the center of Paris.
