EF’s levels are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), which is published by the Council of Europe. Each CEFR stage is divided into 2 EF course levels. Our learning guarantee means you’ll progress one course level every six weeks – otherwise, you’ll study for free until you do. The chart to the left shows the ideal progress you can expect to achieve, although your success depends on the intensity of your program and your personal motivation. Learning at higher levels continues through the C2 stage, where you can master new concepts and strategies to perform at native speaker level.

EF Certificate of Achievement All students studying English will take the EF Standard English Test (EFSET) Graduation to determine their language level at the end of their program.

From start to finish You’ll measure your language skills before, during and after your course with placement, progress and graduation tests. Tailored to you EFSET is the first standardized English test whose content responds to whatever language proficiency you demonstrate as it unfolds – for the most precise results possible. Immediate results You’ll receive a comprehensive analysis of where your language skills are according to the Common European Framework of Reference as soon as you’ve answered the final question.
