Flight
Accommodation
Which documents should you carry with you? Most important is your passport or European identity card. You’ll also need consent for your flight, which you’ll receive 4-6 weeks before your departure.
When will I receive information about my accommodation? You’ll find contact information for your host family around 1-2 weeks before departure on My EF. You can also find the address of the campus, residence or the resort you’ll be staying in. Please note that your host family information may change last-minute.
When will I receive my travel itinerary and my ticket? You’ll find your travel itinerary on My EF approximately 2 weeks before you depart. We won’t issue your flight tickets directly, so you must pick up boarding passes at the check-in desk or self-service check-in machines at the airport. Will I be flying with other students? We only arrange group flights when at least 10 students are departing from the same airport. We’ll let you know if you’re flying on a group flight around 2 weeks before departure. If you are flying as a group, look for the EF leader in the pink T-shirt when you arrive at the airport. Which airline will I be traveling with? We operate flights with internationally-recognized airlines such as British Airways and Lufthansa. What if I’m not traveling in a group? Your EF Leader will meet you at the airport. You can arrange to meet students during your travels through My EF™ and on your destination’s FB page xxxx. Will I eat on the plane? Food is included on the plane if you’re traveling to the USA or Australia. Pack a snack if you’re on a shorter flight – as you will likely not have time to purchase food before arriving to your destination. What are the carry-on rules for liquids at the airport? You should place any liquids such as toothpaste, gels, shampoos and aerosols in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml each (34 oz.). All liquids in containers larger than 100ml must be packed in your checked bag. How much baggage can I carry on with me? The exact weight of carry-on baggae depends on the airline. Any hand luggage should usually weigh 5-8 kg, but it’s best to check exact rules on the website of the airline you’re flying with.
When will I know who my roommate will be? You’ll be staying with between 2 and 4 other students of the same sex. We’ll let you know who you’re staying with when you arrive at your host family. Get in touch with your local EF office to tell us if you’re traveling with a friend of the same sex and would like to stay in the same host family. How many students will I be sharing my room at the EF resort, campus or at school with? The number of students using the same dorm room may vary by course town. Usually 2-6 students of the same nationality share a room, although single rooms are possible at selected destinations. Bathrooms are located either in the room or as a shared bathroom in the corridor. Do I bring a gift for my host family? A gift for the host family is not mandatory. However, it’s always a nice gesture. We suggest bringing something typical from your country. How can I wash my clothes? It’s a good idea to bring enough clothes with you to last for the course duration. We also recommend our students to bring their own hand soap in order to wash your clothes by hand. Please check with your host family beforehand to find out how often you can wash your laundry. If you live on a campus or resort you can usually use the on-site laundry facilities. Check with your course leader for more information. Pocket Money How much pocket money should I bring? We usually recommend about €150 per week for the duration of your course. You can use your pocket money to buy bus tickets, snacks and ice cream or to load your phone card. Although almost all activities are included in the course price, EF offers a variety of optional activities, which can be paid for at your destination. It’s best to bring your pocket money in the local currency as well as a credit card such as Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro card, or a debit card. For more information, visit my.ef.com.
