++ DOUBLE POSITIVE STUDIO dilemma: POINT and LINE
point (n.) (in geometry) something having position but not spatial extent, magnitude, dimension, or direction, for example the intersection of two lines. ...in architecture, there are many elements that may be loosely repesented as points. Points can be destinations, points of interest, intersections, rooms etc. ...in my explorations, the point is a single particle, it’s position defined through cartesian coordinates (x,y) and sometimes (x,y,z), and susceptible to dimension, direction and magnitude to translate it’s position to drive form.
line (n.) (in geometry) a line in a plane is a set of points whose coordinates satisfy a given linear equation, a primitive object that traces a PATH that a point follows. ...in architecture, a line can be interpretted as a connection, corridor, circulatory path etc. It can take the form of driving movements or be interpretted as boundary or form of separation. The line is a powerful tool that can also arrange a sequence of rooms (points) and lead the user to a destination. ...in my explorations, the line is a product of the path the particle takes, is traced, and then reproduced as form.

working in two dimensions
stan ALLEN conducted a series of studies on vector fields and believed that through attributing individual entities with a set of instructions, they can respond to one another and forms and clusters will begin to EMERGE. to begin, points were placed along a grid to represent individual particles which responded to forces of ATTRACTION and REPULSION.
POINT and LINE
REPELLERS
every point’s position was traced as it responded to the repellers that pushed them away and attractors that drawed the points towards them. The result is a very compelling vector field of points that demonstrates the system’s response to external factors such as the force of an attractor & repeller
ATTRACTORS
FURTHER EXPLORATIONS controlling the STRENGTH and POSITION of external forces, different configurations emerge.

PLAN : INITIAL STATE
PLAN : FINAL STATE
much like the flight paths of planes, a series of interconnected lines and points in three dimensional space begin to take flight. the attraction and repulsion points begin to morph and transform the planar grids of points into a folded and ambiguous surface.
PLAN : SECOND LEVEL

DESIGNATION AREAS FOR HABITATION
A GRADIENT OF PUBLICNESS
In designing a villa with topographic surfaces, areas are defined by zones of habitation and zones of obstruction.
Since the villa is inherently a private domain, it is imperative to designate zones that are naturally more private and not directly accessible.
The RED areas are relatively low intensity areas suitable for domesticating and extended periods of stay. Areas of GREEN are conducive to movement and circulation. Finally areas of YELLOW dictate the edges or areas of obstruction.
