The goal of this Program or Modality: To acquire knowledge of higher education and research institutions in Germany, and to establish and intensify first contacts with those institutions (direct exchange with professors and students during the trip). Also, start the knowledge transmission of specific subjects (about study area of
the group of Colombians students) through visits and briefings in the German universities and gather information about Masters and doctorates ( MBs, MSc and Ph D) in Germany.
2.2.
Who are the members of the group?
The members of this project are students of Agro-industrial engineering in between their 7-9 semesters from Universidad del Atlรกntico. We are trained academically in the transformation of the natural sciences, the utilization of animal and agriculture production, and biotechnology development. Because of this common interest is based on maximum use of knowledge that can be acquired to create and develop techniques that contribute to the scientific development of our area. We are women that choose improving our society, dedicated to the research of new areas of engineering, and the development of new business ideas related to institutional and learning processes like those offered in Germany that promote an opportunity to know and consolidate our skills, allowing thereby a continuous progress of knowledge, formation and innovation that can be applied in a changing society. An additional motivation is related to the mobility scholarships for undergraduates and postgraduates related to AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES, because a member of COLFUTURO (Fundacion para el Futuro de Colombia) expressed at a conference that this was an knowledge area with a very low percentage of turnout by Colombian students.

Our profiles
Figure 2. Our group after a meeting.
Our idea of forming a group in order to apply to a call for proposals offered by the DAAD for groups of students, was born of interest to an academic exchange to Germany in the form of a winter course in Berlin communicated by the Office of International Relations of the University during the second half of 2013, which later become a change of approach thanks to finding information on the web site, which currently handles the DAAD in Colombia and to their motivational videos, as this allowed us to better acquaint ourselves with the different types of scholarships offered. In addition this allowed us to acquire information about careers related to our area of study and the range and facilities currently offered by institutions of higher education in both undergraduate as graduate programs Germany.
Two of our members, who sought to attend the convocation winter course in Berlin, then realized the wide range of the DAAD and the Group call, and at that time were enrolled in their eighth semester and the call appeared as a requirement one difference of not more than two semesters. Those particular students met students who at that time were between their sixth and eighth semesters in order to discuss the idea and motivate them to performing a selfassessment in their level of English and their academic performance in addition to participation in research projects, to promote a voluntary application and form a group with the required characteristics. Indeed it was successful, and managed to gather the necessary number of students that met the requirements and that unusual form was comprised of only girl students between their 6th and 8th semesters with good levels of English and participation in research projects, which was then confirmed by the entities responsible at the Universidad del Atlรกntico.

2.4.
Professor’s profile:
This proposal has been prepared to support the travel for academic purposes to a group of ten female senior students from our Bachelor in Agro industrial Engineering, motivated to pursue graduate studies, Germany being one of their key target countries. This visit will allow them to clearly identify program and institutional strengths in German universities, and elaborate concrete plans. Their focal areas encompass energy efficiency in agro-industry, biomass from agroprocess for renewable energy, and management models for sustainable agro-industry. I am a faculty professor in the Industrial Engineering department, and I teach our undergrads Management Science and Operations Scheduling. My management class has a college-broad audience. I decided to support this initiative from our students because my current teaching and research interests would benefit from stronger academic partnerships. I believe this would be an invaluable experience for students coming from underprivileged economic backgrounds, such as the majority of our seniors. Since this is a female only group, there was no male faculty member with enough proficiency in English (or German) in their home department, and La Universidad del Atlántico is committed to develop stronger bonds with international universities, and this travel is highly aligned with our institutional strategies. I am an Industrial Engineer who graduated from Universidad del Atlántico (in 1999), and I had the opportunity to get a scholarship to pursue a Master of Science in Engineering Management in the US (University of South Florida). I graduated from USF in 2002. Upon completion of my masters I returned to Colombia with my family, and I have been involved with academia ever since. I was hired by Universidad del Atlántico in August 2011, to teach and work as the Industrial Engineering Coordinator (position equivalent to a department head). During this past three years I have taught operations management and engineering management (offered at the college level). In the past two years I co-developed a proposal to improve efficiency and performance in logistics for the health care sector in our state (Atlántico), and this proposal was approved by our national science agency last year. In a couple of months we will start working on it. This proposal is part of a macro-research initiative in the Colombian North Coast in logistics for different sectors called LOGPORT.
I have high expectations for the impact we can have after this visit, both in individuals, such as our students or faculty, as well as in the institutions. Our university is the only public university in our state, and this motivates us even more to ensure that our students get to experience international experiences to enhance their professional perspectives and open future doors for advanced education.
2.5.
What makes Germany the best option?
Germany is one of the most important economic powers of the world and is constantly increasing and providing a rich technological and scientific perspective. Germany also has an active and innovated economy and a great cultural life. It is the third most attractive country in the world for international students, also being a striking location for foreign investors considering that 500 biggest companies of the world are present in this country. In total about 45,000foreign companies are operating in Germany, besides receiving students with cutting-edge ideas for using educational institutions, promoting student exchanges, not only to improve English and German but also to instruct and encourage student training. Education and science, research and development occupy a predominant place in the country, with some 370institutions of higher education. Among European countries, Germany holds the number one patent and worldwide ties together with the US and Japan, to being one of the most innovative countries.1 Classic universities are devoted to pure science and cover the entire field of disciplines. On the other hand, technical universities focus on careers in engineering and natural sciences capturing the attention of many students from other countries, since they help and encourage change ideas that enhance our thinking and training. As well as the level of education that Germany has, this country has a lot of cultural options to offer, being a very modern country with a high quality of life and a notable multinational diversity. 1
http://www.tatsachen-ueber-deutschland.de/es/contenido-home/cifras-y-datos/alemania-de-un-vistazo.html?type=1 11
Historical-cultural monuments, green areas and preserved for travelers visiting Germany are particularly attractive, as well as the many concerts, festivals and major sporting events which are held throughout the year. It is important to highlight that a modern new campus for science of nature and engineering is building south of the city of Rostock. It is here where the strength of innovation within the university is most noted. The university also offers certification courses and master's degree programs accredited with the needs of training and the opportunity to develop themselves. Studies of flexible parallel with work and family, and at the same time through traditional seminars or online studies, supervised phases such as self-directed self-paced learning guaranteed regardless of the style of life thereby generating expectations and opportunity to extend our studies in the medium and long term according to the approach that we want to apply.2 Considering the above and knowing weaknesses, opportunities, strengths and weaknesses of our country, creating intellectual links and exchange of knowledge with students and scientists from Germany, will help us to take a big step as students that are seeking improvement for our society, exploring new fields of agribusiness and discovering different points of view. For this reason it is essential to connect us to business processes that promote learning and an opportunity to know and transform the resources available in tools which are primary sources of new academic study and social and cultural activities within an international framework that may lead to new experiences where we can familiarize and unfold with the world around us. In addition we would like to deepen our research such in fields such as environmental sciences, sustainable management of natural resources, biotechnology and waste management. All of these relate us to the institutions chosen for our study tour helping us to become future young professionals with an excellent academic preparation.
2.6.
What do we want to achieve with this trip?
Our goal is to visit universities in Germany, highlighted by the contributions that they make to the society in terms of research on agro-industry to receive academic knowledge about methods, processes and innovative techniques related to the environment and new energy 2
http://es.uni-rostock.de/carreras/ 12
sources. This would also be an enriching cultural exchange for both parts. Another reason why we want to have this experience is to obtain information on postgraduate studies which are related to our study area and possibly in the future study them. To achieve this goal, there will be visits, meetings, informative talks, among others, two institutions in Germany which is important in our area of study in order to make the experience more productive. One purpose of Colombian agro-industrial engineers is to solve problems and take advantage of our vast pool of resources in the most efficient and sustainable way, creating new techniques and methods for promoting the benefits and also the satisfaction of social needs, turning the knowledge gained from research results into something practical. In this way, the trip will be taken as a great opportunity to acquire a comprehensive growth as future professionals open to new knowledge and new techniques that will be put to the service of society, becoming entities of change.

Designed to create better environmental conditions, create jobs, and provide a quality and healthy product. The production of vinegar from the 'banana rejection' by traders is an excellent raw material for different processes. It was presented at the research meeting of RedCOLSI (Red Colombiana de Semilleros de Investigation) Atlántico node, Made in Corporación Politécnico Costa Atlántica on 29th, 30th and 31th May 2011and the National Meeting of Seed Research RedCOLSI in CorporaciónUniversitaria Del Huila from 24to 27October 2011.
Salsas Naturals is a business idea, which is intended to compete in the purity and quality of sauces in general. The project is set to be an organic, low-chemical, which is why innovation is in 'NO add CMC (carboxymethyl)' also a pumpkin paste flower making the marketing of organic products in our country. It is thought to increase profitability in the business of raising laying hens and fattening food. PROLEVINA ensures low costs in feeding the cattle satisfactory organoleptic properties and high in protein and carbohydrates. The bill provides that when using banana reject an impact in industrial and in the environment cause, as it will reduce the pollution that these have on its.
The Caribbean region is considered an economic grain basket, but for many people this is difficult to digest and is why developing a separator protein based on the enzyme called 'Papain' with the final goal to make a to replace the meat is a protein supplement which can be consumed without alterations in the digestive process. 18
Creating a cooling system which implements a compressor whose operation is based on the use of heat to generate an increase in pressure in the coolant necessary for all cooling systems. Furthermore, this system uses a thermoelectric cell (peltier) for air circulation system.

Relation between Agribusiness in Colombia and Germany
Currently in Colombia there is much progress in the production of agri-food chains such as chains of sugar and confectionery, coffee chains, IM chains of dairy products, meat chain and products, chain oils, chain cereals, poultry and swine, chain wine and fruit (grapes), vegetables chain (fresh tomato, and processing), brand of soft drinks (juices), textile chains, leather chains, and chain forest (wood)7. On the other hand our country is internationally recognized for its exotic varieties of flowers and decorative plants, which have shown a continuous development that has affected the growth of exports in general, agribusiness and the dependence on form of production, the presence of economies of scale, and the use of modern management methods 8. At present, Colombia has developed great contacts to export with great momentum and rise to level not only in the continent but globally. One of the highlights is the European Union, with whom we share values and close ties. Trade relations in the country are based on a broader framework of political dialogue and cooperation seeking to create a legal framework to increase stability in business relationships, provide greater benefits to industrial sectors, and help job creation.

Some tourist sites of our interest are: Almost the entire main street is covered by a modern gallery, is the shopping street par excellence. It was the first pedestrian zone of Germany (1957). The origins of the Nikolai (St. Nicholas Church), large red brick church Holstenstrasse: with three naves, dating from the thirteenth century but rebuilt after damage in World War II. In Inside is a font of 1344, a Gothic altar and a carved altarpiece painted in 1460. Ernst Barlach was the author of the sculpture outside Geist kämpfer (Angel Fighter), held in 1928 and symbolizes the triumph of the spirit over the flesh. Very near and within Holstenstrasse Nikolikirche is lively Alter Mark, the Old Market.

On the ruins of the old Schloss (castle), totally destroyed by bombing in the Second World War, has built a modern building whose resemblance to the above is remote. Inside is housed the Stiftung Pommern, shows that since 1999 works by German and Dutch artists of the sixteenth to the nineteenth century. The canal linking the North Sea and the Baltic Sea is the busiest in the world. It is a journey of 98 kms between Brunsbuttel and KielHoltenau, that bisects Schleswig-Holstein (thus avoiding boats circumnavigating the peninsula Jylland) and integrated into the landscape as if it were a natural way. natural Besides the Kliener Kiel, the city has a number of lakes and parks in the city center, as Schrevenpark around the lake Schreventeich. There are several botanical gardens as Schlossparken, the Alter Botanischer Garten and Neues Botanischer Garten.
Agro in christian –albrechts universitat zu kiel
The focus of the Faculty is located in the areas of agriculture, environment, agricultural economics and agribusiness, diet and health, biotechnology and molecular biology.11Now, taking into account that we are students with ability and investigative interest motivated by science and innovation to take advantage and transform the different biological resources available in agro-industrial products, the areas mentioned above will become key pieces for the development and strengthening of knowledge since they are closely related to the lines of 11

research within our career training. Here, we will have the opportunity to meet students of biotechnology and applied Molecular Biology, since in this area there are already different products such as medicines, fuels, etc., from biological sources. Learning obtained under the approach of these areas will allow producing large number of substances and compounds from renewable resources available in abundance. Currently Christian-Albrechts-Universitat zu Kiel has within its premises the Centre of excellence of the milk - Schleswig-Holstein in German. "Kompetenz Zentrum Milch Schleswig-Holstein" (KMSH) is considered a point of contact for the dairy sector and on the other the interface between science and business within the framework of the program for the economy of the future in Schleswig-Holstein, in the field of the "investment in infrastructure and the creation of networks of science and promoted industry with funding from the European Fund of" Regional (FEDER) European Union development. The KMSH, has also established an interdisciplinary research project called "Pro-Milk", which involves a complex way, current affairs of the dairy industry, and provides results that are required precisely because of the dynamics of the market of milk to set a course for the future. Another objective of the platform of the project is the development of new ideas from research, together with the industry and put them into practice consistently in terms of practicality. On this basis, the individual sub-projects have been designed within the KMSH; the University and industry partners are working in nine different subprojects issues of interest for the entire chain of supply of dairy products: from food production in the topics of animal nutrition, livestock and animal husbandry for the global economic assessment of the different areas within their respective different conditions.12In this sense it is essential to talk then about the quality and food forming security part essential in agro-industry, but at the same time considered to be the most vulnerable in society and the world. For our country this is a major area of study because according to the last national survey of the nutritional situation in Colombia (Ensin - ICBF)13shows disturbing data: 27.5%of children between 6months and 5years have anemia, 39%of Colombians do not consume dairy products, 36.6% consumed candy daily and 71.9%do not consume vegetables. As future agro-industrial engineers we are hoping that this situation will change, and consider it a social responsibility to look for an increase of productivity of agricultural production processes and at the same time work on improvement in the provision and consumption of food products of quality as basic resources that help to satisfy social needs. Taking into account as well their effects on health and the environment. Christian-Albrechts-Universitat zu Kiel has two clusters of excellence and a graduate school, and thus is among the top ten in the German excellence initiative. Today, this University is the scientific center of Schleswig-Holstein, situated in the northern part of Germany. The University of Kiel is considered a modern multidisciplinary University which is 12 13

home to several scientific cultures, which has a positive impact on research and teaching. There is also a wide network of international relations and cooperation agreements with more than 41 universities in Europe, America and Asia that have been signed. There are also more than 200 agreements of cooperation in the framework of the Erasmus European program. Among the merits for the German University include being the only German university which granted an honorary doctorate to the scientist Albert Einstein.14

Rostock ranked among one of the 50 most prestigious universities in Germany according to German Universities Web Ranking, which will provide us with the opportunity to meet the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Environmental only throughout Germany, with a focus on research "AGRICOAST - Resource Usage sustainable agricultural landscapes near the shore" in the three areas of research: Plant-Soil, Ecology-(Coastal)-Landscape and Biomass-aqua and lifestock Sciences. Like research, graduates and study courses of the faculty are oriented to sustainable design, the use and development of the rural area16as a whole, increases our desire to enter into a relationship with students in these areas with whom we intend to exchange and share valuable information because these studies are centralized in the territory and infrastructure of each country and because we are of different nationalities, one of the objectives will be based on the development of new projects that promote excellent opportunities interdisciplinary research in the fields of natural sciences and engineering. Our common interest is based on the maximum use of the knowledge that can be acquired to create and develop techniques that contribute to the scientific development and also have an economic, technological, industrial and cultural center in order to have social impact in the region and country.

ITINERARY The itinerary includes all activities planned and agreed with Universität zu kiel and Universität Rostock, according to our suggestions and in order to make the most of learning opportunities, with students and professors who work in similar areas to our study, specifically in agricultural and nutritional sciences. Consequently we present the following schedules with details of the trip and the activities. We should arrive in Berlin-Germany because is the easiest way to move to Kiel, and in the case we get this scholarship in mode B we will have to pick the money up in the DAAD’s office which is in Berlin.

Proposal Activity: Cultural Demonstration
Colombia is a country with great cultural biodiversity and musical rhythms, which is why our group would be interested in making a small cultural show in order to show the teachers and students involved with our visit in Germany our main folk dances, handicrafts and customs. The cultural show would last approximately 1 hour. Some of the dances are: Cumbia, Bullarengue, MapalĂŠ and exposition of souvenirs representative of Colombian culture in general. The activity will take place in the universities of Christian-Albrechts Universitat zu Kiel and the Universitat Rostock. If the universities are interested in this, they would need to allot us with a space to perform this activity.

4. PREPARATION
50
PREPARATION 4.1. How and since have we prepared for the Study trips? Our preparation began on August 27, 2013, when our group became interested in the opportunity to travel to Germany. During the initial process of motivation and preparation we were able to contact those students of our faculty who had been fortunate to obtain the endorsement of the DAAD for their study trip and with one of the teachers Fernando Moncada, who was their companion, listen to their experiences and points of view; although they do part of a different program as which they have different interests academically were important at the time of the forceful decision apply us as candidates for this same mode and thus to explore a little more such opportunities related to agribusiness that are within reach in a country in which agriculture is an important economic sector according to the Portal business and foreign trade BANESTO of the Santander Group. Knowing clearly what kind of scholarship we wanted to apply for us and considering our entire group, the next step was to gather together with the engineers Elizabeth Acosta and Arnaldo Martinez, our teaching companion and agro-industrial engineering program coordinator respectively, teachers who supported and boosted our idea. After receiving their support, we proceeded to begin the analysis needed to understand the objectives of the call, the steps to be followed, and the requirements that needed to be met. Weeks after the initial time, we went to the international relations office to perform the respective and formal procedures of our interest and nomination and work in conjunction with the University and our teaching companions. The entire process has been accompanied by different departments of the University, which include: the Faculty of education and its program of foreign languages, the Office of international relations, the Faculty of engineering with the program of agro-industrial engineering, the Vice President's Office of teaching, the Assistant of languages of the Fulbright and Professor Fernando Moncada, who accompanied the first group worthy of the call. All have accompanied the process and evaluated our skills mainly in the English language and our academic performance, to confirm that we meet the requirements to perform this type of mobility. Internally our group consists of ten students of agro-industrial engineering between their seventh and ninth semesters which held meetings to organize everything concerning the 51
required written work, in addition to meetings with the engineer Elizabeth who permanently reviewed and guided this work, communication with the LIC. Luisa Echeverria King, head of international relations of the University was fundamental to our interests and choice of the German universities that could offer better opportunities with respect to our study, the accompaniment by Adam Bosetski the Fulbright Language Assisstant, who was essential in the improvement of our skills in the English language, and finally communication with the office of the DAAD in Bogota-Colombia which helped us to answer questions and to better understand the process. The following table shows some activities after forming the Group and during our preparation for our application to the DAAD:
