FUTURE FACTORY Technology has constantly been shaping humans as we keep adapting to it over time. It has sucked us into a virtual world, a realm that disconnects us from the spaces and people around us. The smartphone is one example that does so. The Melbourne Central Project tries to prevent us from being completely desensitized in the future by producing spatial awareness. There are 4 typologies that make up a daily routine of a person. They are accomodation, train station, office tower and retail. This Factory produces spatial awareness by making disruptions in this everydayness. These disruptions bring about unexpected encounters, allowing for a new reading of the city. These interventions are then seen as prototypical and can be applied to similar typologies throughout the city. This Future Factory would adapt and create new disruptions against the routiness of new typologies that arise in the future. Hence, the Future Factory to us is more of a strategy to tackle the future then a set building product of current age. The site and testing ground is the Melbourne Central City block.

The body of work being presented here in this folio consists of 5 years of my life. It will still be ongoing projects in various aspects of my life. My heart goes out to Sand Helsel, Alan Lau, Gretchen Wilkins, Brendan Jones, Richard + Michelle Black, Stuart Harrison, Paul Morgan, Peter Corrigan, Jan van Schaik, Ricardo Flores, Eva Prats and Crystal Song. Without them, much of this work would not have surfaced the way it could and should have.
