INTRODUCTION I am a outgoing and enthusiastic person who likes to excel when given a certain tasks. I have a strong passion for both architecture and fitness. In architecture, I wish to be able to create spaces that sets people thinking and touch their emotions and feelings. I learnt that architecture can be approached in many ways after going through my journey in year 1, but I solely believed that architecture should be approached through the genius loci after my first project which I had a chance to be exposed to hence I aim to develop and explore this further in the future. ABSTRACT Sustainable living in architecture can be the solution in solving future issues such as social, economic, political and various more. The key towards a sustainable architecture is percieved when an architecture is able to adapt to changes to the different zeitgeist of the period, able to evolve in terms of expansion and reduction to the needs of the people, able to function as an ecosystem, able to achieve nett zero carbon emission and provide extra energy for the environment and community. Through this academic year, I have managed to explore projects that can contribute to sustainbility. The 24 storey residential project has investigated the means of creating an ecosystem for a community through the exploration on how communal spaces interact with one another hence social sustainability. The International BIM Competition has investigated the means of creating a sustainable facade using computational analysis and design methods which explores on productivity and construction efficiency thus economic sustainability The Overseas Social Innovation Project has investigated the means of participatory design with different community hence exploring the success in designing for and with the community therefore social sustainability. The vertical studio elective II on Re-envisiong the Kelong has investigated on pod off grid farming module system which has explored on how a single module can be self sustainable in producing both food and water thus creating opportunity for food and energy sustainability. In response the given design statement and issue, I have always uphold an importance in responding a project towards the genius loci hence in depth site analysis is always important for me in the work but at the same time adapting to the future changes.

PROJECT 3 : THE FUTURE OF WORKSPACES CRE-A-BORATIVE HUB With growing concerns of learning and collaboration in the workplace, this project aims to explore the possibilities of transforming a typical serviced office into an endless loop of learning and collaborative zones that may inspire creativity and productivity for the millennials in the creative industry better. The design approach was to manipulate typical floor slabs into horizontal and vertical overlapping compartments that embraces a centre atrium space. This configuration redefines the future office as an extension of a collaborative learning hub between the community and millennials of the creative industry.

DESIGN CONCEPTUALIZATION The design approach is to redefine the typical office typology as a place of learning with the essence of creative, collaboration and learning for the millennials of the creative industry as well as the site. “The hand work will never end! MACRO SITE ANALYSIS It’s the industrial revolution from plantation. Industrial areas and shopping areas filled up mainly of the plotThere are very little place for recreational activities and roads to connect to places. Mainly an area for trading and business instead of leisure space .Mainly small roads and no.major roads to connect to places .

MICRO SITE ANALYSIS Jalan Besar Road is a busy road, being one of the main entrance to the City area. However it is seldom gets congested due to its wide 4 lane road.. At night, the streets surrounding the site comes alive. These streets are usually 1 lane roads which causes congestions. The narrow and uneven 5-foot way design of old shophouses means that many areas around the site are inaccessible/difficult for riders. Trees and greenery help provide some shade in the heavily urbanised and dense location. It also acts as a communal space and a visual relief from an urban jungle as exemplified by Somme Park.

DESIGN STRATEGY & SKETCHES The strategy was to manupilate the typical horizontal floor slab into vertical and diagonal connectivity in order to connect new programs and spaces dedicated for learning and also enhancing connectivity thus the initial brief is reshuffled and new programs are add into with public in mind where the site is taken account for

ZONING Zoning typology is lifted onto a vertical form where the private sector is being carefully planned in the site such as noise conditions of the road and more private locations at the higher level

FURTHER ZONING Through the zoning planning of site such as private and public zones, the design thinking modules comes in to site and are placed according to the privacy needs of that zone while maintaining collaboration and learning throughout

JUXTAPOSITION Volumes are classified by program and is injected onto site to overlap one another where collaboration learning areas are form Central plaza is created to maintain the back alley typology on site and private zones are placed nearer to the stadium where terracing is form to respond to the height and landscape

SITE CONTROL Massing is pushed further to fit into site boundary and also to respond to the architecture façade typology such as chamfering to the main road and curving to the surrounding building The public realm plaza is further open to bring in more people of the site

FINAL MASSING Central plaza is open up more to bring in existing wind from prominent direction to cool down the building and also to enhance the public circulation into the building

PROGAMIZATION Programs are preplan according to the intended volume of spaces and readjusted in site to respond to conditions such as privacy and climatic conditions
Upper levels are terraced and shaped to form green spaces and also views and vistas from the site

MICRO SITE CONTEXT Existing adjacent greenery in the other plot and site, existing public circulation of different times at the site and the back alley typology observed in this precinct is being considered into the design for site response

PODIUM LEVEL STRATEGY The split core strategy from office case study is taken into account here where the cores and placed strategically to embrace the open central plaza which public and community can gather at an centralized place creating fixed interaction opportunities

FLOOR PLATE STRATEGY Floorplates and created according to preplanned programs of the initial massing and program analysis for brief and its adjusted further on site to embrace the open plaza

FLOOR PLATE MANUPILATION Expression of openness is integrated to the design similarly as the office case study where floor structure is used in this instance to create split levels, courtyards and breakout spaces which brings in views, daylighting and connectivity for users

DIAGONAL CIRCUATION Staircase is used mostly throughout the design to connect split levels for informal spaces hence enhancing visual connectivity through physical means in different levels

FLOOR DISPLACEMENT To further enhance openness within the space, voids and air wells are created through displacing floor plates where some become split levels for an informal collaboration space while some becomes void for visual connectivity between levels and the ground level courtyards

THE PROGRAM Programs of spaces are design to integrate the public, semi public and private together so that all can come together and form greater collaborations hence vertical and horizontal are combine in some areas to enhance the spatial quality The section space shows how the different zones come together with the collaborative hub in the middle while the circulation is mostly inside the core hence efficiency is high and spaces gets most views outside through terraces Horizontal circulation is integrated into the space through a linear arrangement to break the hierarchy within spaces, my project thus create a hybridized linear circulation that is broken down further through breakout spaces hence the circulation within an office environment becomes more interesting due to the integration of informal spaces

FACADE MATERIAL Translating the metaphor of the works of the designers in their spaces where architecture can express program through façade hence the concept of expressing porosity, hardness and fading through façade are the key elements these programs undergo hence the intent is to blur the boundary between physical and virtual of design in the building Round columns are used to embrace the sites curvilinear form hence suggesting users to explore the building even more from the exterior Beam and slabs at higher levels cantilevers out to form overhangs to shade from east west sun

ENVIRONMENTAL Passive strategies such as having green roofs and deep overhangs will help in reducing heat gain for the interior spaces Introducing air wells and courtyards inside the building help to ventilate and bring natural daylighting inside better while the main plaza location is faced towards prominent winds hence wind can help cool the interior core too Façade elements such as having light shelves will help to reduce heat gain and bring in light especially with high floor to floor heights

SPATIAL QUALITIES Horizontal circulation is integrated into the space through a linear arrangement to break the hierarchy within spaces, my project thus create a hybridized linear circulation that is broken down further through breakout spaces hence the circulation within an office environment becomes more interesting due to the integration of informal spaces Communication spaces are integrated into core areas where circulation intersects one another to enhance communication and interaction within workers from different departments, my project thus integrate breakout spaces, meeting rooms and learning pods into core areas where circulation point starts and end at the same place hence interaction can be centralized at these points.

EOYS COMPETITION : TRANSPLANARISM ANTHROPO-METRIC ADAPTATION Offset of the platform forward allows the public to view more sides of the model. The models are being placed on different platforms measured 0.6m, 0.65m , 1.2m and 1.25m. It allows some staggering yet at a comfortable height to be viewed by the public. Synergy through porosity allows for the public to have a wide scope of models to look at from one view. It also allows for social interaction to occur.
