THE KASYARA SDA 5 | A 4-Star City Hotel Having upper-class residents (such as executives, ofď€ cials, entrepreneurs, socialites) as the target user, the city hotel was designed emphasizing the aesthetics and luxury of the form and space. Meant to be a social point for the surroundings and the residents, the hotel provided green terraces and abundant communal space for the residents to socialize and to do business. The green terraces are also beneď€ cial for the dense neighborhood in terms of aesthetics and space quality.

TIRTA JIWANTA Parahyangan Design Competition 2016 Design Submission The objective is to create an entertaining water-themed public space on a site in Bandung that was previously a retention pool in Dutch colonial era. Our team approached the challenge by producing a design that highlights the role of water element as Stress Relief Therapy, considering Bandung has developed into a busy industrial city with its citizens exposed to a more stressful and hectic lifestyle.

ACTION ZONE One of the ways to get rid of stress is by doing exercises. The design provides Jogging tracks, Community circle and street hawkers zone. To contain the noise of this action zone, it is located end-to-end from the contemplation zone
TRANSITION ZONE The design provides Amphitheater and stage as the communal space. The existence of the tribune and stage allows neighborhood to host events such as art performance, band, etc. Therefore this park will remain dynamic with temporary events.

BIOPHILIC Yogyakarta Sub-district Ofce | SDA 4 The function of the building as a public ofce means that there will be serve-served relationship. The ofce designed attempted to give benets to both parties. Simply put, there are 3 aspects to highlight which are Productivity, Comfort, and Public Space. The concept of Biophilic, integration of nature to a building, can accommodate these 3 aspects.
Exposure to greeneries, scenery and natural lighting can naturally boost production of human brain
Vegetated, sun-lit waiting room will make the process of service no longer a discomfort.
The design provides a stage and large open space, free for locals to use, both daily usage and formal events.

SEDENTARY HOUSE Located in a 12 x 20 m site, a part of a housing complex, this family home was designed to prioritize and optimize indoor spaces. A couple of husband and wife live with 3 grown-up children and 2 housemaids (7 people in total). All of the residents spend most of their time in the house when at leisure instead of going out. The sedentary lifestyle affects the design of the house. The design included indoor garden as the center of living. Beneď€ cial as a source of natural lighting, the indoor garden also creates fresh and natural atmosphere in the house.

THE BOW Apartment | BIM Study This is a ď€ nal project of BIM Subject, which is to use Revit and create a standard Apartment building. The objectives were to explore Revit feature in mass form exploration. The Bow was inspired by the form of Water lily petal and Origami. Using the conceptual mass and curtain panel, I created a curvy surface with scale-like curtain panels that serves as the building envelope. The pattern on glazed surface will create an interesting shadow effect when exposed to sun rays.

Using Revit to create a building with an organic form is very practical, because although the form is complex, everything is measured accurately. It makes the building actually possible to be built, but of course with further and more comprehensive modeling. TAMPAK DEPAN

Another beneď€ t of Revit is that everything is connected. When we make a change in oor plan, it automatically changes the section, elevation, 3D, etc. It ensures that all the image documents are relevant to each other.

VISTA Guest House | SDA 3 Improved Design Located on a site with extreme contours and adjacent to a river, The design of the guest house concentrated the building mass on top of the contour. By doing so, a sufď€ cient distance to the river was created, and the building does not cover more than the half of the site. Such conď€ guration enables the bedrooms to have a great vista of the river and surrounding nature.
15
The conď€ guration of building mass took the C-like shape. This shape entitles each room to have a privileged vista of its own, unobstructed and most certainly not facing the other rooms. There is a curved ramp which serves as a path for visitors to get to the bottom of the site, adjacent to the river bank. The ramp was also meant for the visitors to experience the natural scenery from another perspective. 16
Located at a hoek, near trafc junction, this restaurant has abundant advantages for its strategic location. There is a potential of this restaurant becoming a landmark, thus the form of this restaurant was designed to be unique and distinguished from its surroundings.
DIVIDED Fast Food Restaurant | SDA 2 Improved Design The main idea of the restaurant’s mass conguration was to create divided masses, each for the customers and for the employees. Such conguration ensures clear distinction between public and service zone.

BLOCKED Campus Library | Studio Desain Arsitektur 2 Improved Design. The design of this library involves an intended ‘play’ in users’ circulation path. In order to create a ‘surprise effect’, the rooms were managed so that rooms with core function are not exposed when rst entering the library. The rooms with core function, such as book collection room and reading room, are exposed gradually when users walk down the circulation path. This kind of circulation is benecial because it can effectively dene public and private space of the room, without having to rely too much on the use of room partition.
The Library was designed with minimalism. The Design was kept simple by using a single geometry which is the shape of square. The square is then transformed into blocks with some variations of width and height. The Core function rooms such as Book collection room and reading room have the tallest blocks, which was intended to accommodate future expansion (increasing book collection and increasing amount of users). Wide window openings are also extensively provided in the design, which were intended to allow great vista from the inside to its surroundings, and also to maximize the intensity of Natural Lighting. 18

Miniatur UNDIP 2015 Competition Entry Located in the city of Semarang, The bus stop design was created with the concept of Wayang. Wayang Kulit is a cherished tradition in Semarang, although starting to disappear due to lack of preservation. This design borrowed the concept of Wayang stage and the shape of Gunungan wayang as the shape of notiď€ cation and advertisement boards. The design includes panels for vertical greenery as an aesthetics to the surrounding. a pair of standard ramp for Diffable is also provided to practice universal design.

SCULPTURES HORIZONTALISM Creating A Space of Horizontal Sense THE SLASHING CURVES THE DANCING PAPER A Sculpture of A Single Sheet of Paper THE GOLDEN SECTION HORIZONTAL ELEMENTS A Space Dened by Horizontal Elements PARK BENCH GUARD HOUSE
20
HORIZONTALISM The objective was to create a sculpture of form. The form must create a sense of space, not just any space but a space that feels horizontal. People inside the space would feel width instead of height.I created a sculpture using diagonal linear elements so that the sculpture is dynamic.
SLASHING CURVES Inspired by the form of overlapping curves of buttery wings, 8 mm stripes were carefully put together to make a sculpture of ‘confronting’ curves. The main idea was to accentuate the curves by creating repetitions but remained dynamic. 21
DANCING PAPER
THE GOLDEN SECTION
A sculpture made of single sheet of paper, without any separated part or cuts. Made using the technique of Origami, I achieved aesthetics from the repetition of folded patterns. The pattern was created on the whole surface of the paper, which was then curved as a whole to achieve the resulted shape.
The sculpture is made from series of rectangles. All of the rectangles and the placement are created using the Golden Section ratio (1:1,618). The sculpture was interesting because it is only a repetition of one form, and it is just rectangular surfaces arranged to be perpendicular to each other. Simple but remained dynamic because of its variations of sizes. 22
SCULPTURE COMPILATION These are several other sculptures. The horizontal elements, Park bench, and Watch house. The ď€ rst year of my study in Architecture taught us to explore the aesthetics and dynamics of forms, which is gradually expected to be implemented in a building with a clear function. In most of my design projects I tend to opt for simplicity, which is often achieved by having one design element and repeated on other parts wisely.

PERSONA NON GRATA
THE GOLDEN SECTION
This 2D Composition was created under the regulation that only limited amount of shapes may be used. In this composition I attempted to make a negative space circle from the surrounding multiple lines.
HARMONY & RHYTHM
This 2D Composition was to practice the theory of size and proportion. A complex and multiple grid were used in this composition. The proportions used are 1:1 grid, The golden section and Fibonacci.
This 2D Composition was an application of the theory repetition, harmony, and rhythm. A radial grid was used to accentuate the unity and to deď€ ne the form. Multiple patterns of harmony and rhythm were implemented, thus became too complex to be noticeable at the ď€ rst sight.

EDWIN SALIM Personal Logo The design of this logo started on the initial of my name, which are the letter E and S. Those letters exist in the logo, but inexplicitly. I accentuate the letter S because the form can be dynamic. The result was an innity-like shape, or the shape of number 8 because 8 means luck in chinese tradition.

ARCHAPALA LOGO UGM Architecture ‘14 Ofcial Logo The idea of the logo was a box cut in half. As an architecture student, we are faced with many constraints, both in design and our casual lives. Although constraints may exist, we are required to deal with them creatively. Which is why the logo expresses a group of students that can break-free, breaking the boundaries, but in a smart and responsible way. 26
