In the Age of AI, architecture is undergoing a fundamental shift toward the use of AI-driven generative design tools to streamline design processes and explore a vast range of design possibilities. Architects are currently learning to establish a “human-AI partnership” to open doors to unconventional approaches that challenge traditional design norms.
This proposed architecture-related challenge actively engages high-school students in a unique experience to venture beyond the ordinary thinking and explore new realms of design with unconventional materials, collaborative thinking, and cutting-edge technology.
High school students with a passion for creativity and innovation, students who dream of shaping the cities of tomorrow, should participate in this hands-on/hands-off (AI) short journey that will introduce them to the world of architecture and ignite their passion for design.
This challenge aims to merge between conventional design thinking and avant-garde use of AI in architecture:

Experiment with a variety of shapes and combinations with the provided material to turn your vision into a tangible physical model. Create an innovative vertical structure that would resist unexpected natural conditions.

Step into a virtual world and see your design come to life with the help of simple design software/applications to create a realistic 3D model of your architectural creation.

About the challenge:
Architecture design is a timeless profession that enables you to be part of humanity’s history and future. The Architect is the leader, maestro, and the main driving force behind the design and realization of any project. This challenge aims to explore the fundamentals of creating spaces and exploring the application of new emerging technologies using artificial intelligence in Architecture.
The students are asked to create a vertical structure using a simple Materials, and then photo document their results. Using AI, the students shall process and convert their structures into architectural projects.
Eligibility:
It is a teamwork challenge where each team consists of three to four students (High school students).
Duration:
The challenge is a one-time task that requires to be finished in max. two hours.
Required materials:
In addition to the orientation and the support of the Architecture design faculty, all the required materials will be provided by Effat University …

Evaluation Criteria:
All the finalized projects will be evaluated by specialized committee who follow the criteria:
Innovation and stability of Physical Models: Does the design provide a new or creative idea with vertical stability.
Aesthetics: The good selection of the form and finishing quality.
Innovation of using AI: The innovation to use AI to convert the physical model image into an AI generated realistic architectural space / building.
Expected results (Outcomes):
One physical model 20-30*20-30*60-70 cm
One black and white image (on plain black or white background) (1024 x 1024 pixel resolution or higher)
One Ai generated photo (1024 x 1024 pixel resolution or higher)
Participants and Winners:
There will be an announcement during the conference event for all the participants’ teams, where all will receive a participation certificate. The event shall be held on the 14th of November, 2023.
The second winner:
Will receive an appreciation trophy and 800 SR.
First winner:
Will receive an appreciation trophy and 1000 SR.
The third winner: Will receive an appreciation trophy and 500SR.
