Keynote Speakers Her Excellency Madame Irina Bokova Ms. Bokova became the first woman Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in November 2009. Prior to this, from 2005 to 2009, she was Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to France and Monaco and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO and Personal Representative of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria to the "Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie" (OIF). During a distinguished career, Ms. Bokova has also served as Bulgaria’s representative to the United Nations and as her country’s Secretary of State for European Integration and Foreign Minister. As Founder and Chairperson of the European Policy Forum, she worked to overcome divisions in Europe and promote the values of dialogue, diversity, human dignity and rights. An ardent advocate of education and gender equality, Ms. Bokova was the deputy head of the delegation of Bulgaria to the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995, “Action for Equality, Development and Peace” held in Beijing, China. In 2010, she was awarded in Rome the Minerva prize that recognizes women with an outstanding contribution to diverse areas of knowledge.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Turki Dr. Al-Turki obtained his doctorate in Engineering from the University of Texas, Houston, USA and is presently the Chief Executive Officer of MTMM Engineering Consultancy, a professional partnership between his own Saudi Arabian engineering firm – Dr. Eng Mohamed Turki Office for Engineering Consultancy (MTEC) and its long time associate, Mott MacDonald Group of UK. In addition to his valuable contribution as Chair of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) Western Region (KSA), he is also an active member of the several distinguished international technical organisations, such as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK) and the New York Academy of Sciences. Dr. Al-Turki has convened and attended many workshops and seminars.
Dr. Robert Reilly Dr. Reilly is a Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Center for Educational Computing Initiatives and is also president of the IEEE Education Society. He has taught Computer Science for over 25 years and is the recipient of numerous awards including the IEEE William E. Sayle II Award for Achievement in Education in 2010 and IEEE Leadership Award in 2009. Dr. Reilly’s work focuses on the revision of the currently accepted teaching for transmitting knowledge from a model-based knowledge domain and development of this model is a distinctive contribution to the advancement of teaching pedagogy in engineering education, in particular.
Professor Mohamed Essaaidi Professor Essaaidi is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Morocco, an IEEE Senior Member and the Chairman of the IEEE Morocco Section. He is a prolific author in the field of Electrical and Computer Technologies and the Editor-in-Chief of the international journal on Information and Communication Technologies since 2007. He has also been actively involved in the organizing committees of several international conferences during the last decade. Professor Essaaidi has four patents on antennas for very high data rate, multi-band wireless communication networks and high resolution medical imaging systems.
