MOTIVES AND INTERESTS In 2010 I have graduated with Bachelor degree from Faculty of Architecture in Kaunas University of Technology where I have laid foundations to my chosen career path. Throughout studies I have not only followed basic program but also participated in various workshops and architecture competitions. In academic environment I always felt the need to challenge myself by questioning status quo and trying to understand the underlying complexity of the project within the proximity of the task. In spite of that, after graduating I felt the need to travel abroad and continue my carrier in a more multicultural environment. Since 2010 I had an opportunity to work in a known and respectable architecture firm “Inbo” in The Netherlands, where I worked on concept design development, 3D modeling, artistic impressions and 2D drafting. After spending two years in “Inbo”, I have decided to gain more theoretical knowledge in the Master track of Architecture in TU Delft. During the studies I developed particular interest in what I call “an intermediate scale”. My passion for architecture has lead to questioning its limits and strives to blur the transition between architecture and urban design. Design process based on systematic approach and constant wrestling with challenges is essential to me. With the experience I managed to gain, I see myself working on complex international projects in multicultural teams improving ability to develop concept designs and I execution of technical projects. selected projects / 3

SOUTHWORKS MAKERS HUB INSTITUTION TU Delft TUTORS Darrel Ronald / Tanner Merkeley / Karel Volers LOCATION Chicago, USA DATE 2013 / 09 - 2014 / 06 PHASE Master thesis project TYPE Research / urban planning / urban design / architectural design TASK Investigate physical, political and economic context of the district. Create the strategy of further development of the area by introducing new means of urban planning, while doing so in all possible scales. Address the problems in architectural scale in relation to the strategy. DESCRIPTION Project intends to identify a major problem causing high unemployment, low education and no free time activities, which form a loop of problems enhancing each other. Therefore, the building is being proposed as a long term system braking the loop and reducing the magnitude of the issues by engaging community in the overall design development. As a result, Makers hub introducing light industry in a range from analogue visual arts to high tech fabrication, as a place where people learn new skills, through practice and apply them for economic benefit. Accordingly, the building becomes a seed as a first step in cluster’s development but due to uncertainty of long term development and in relation to urban strategy the hub turns into a flexible framework adapting through time to the changing conditions.
STRONG ECONOMIC
1
Common space is being defined as fixed and essential factor of the building with an ability to be connected to temporary programmatic elements. The common space itself becomes a programmable area, where diverse functions are interacting and exchanging knowledge.

NATIONAL IDEAS COMPETITION MONUMENT OF UNITY INSTITUTION Inbo TEAM Jacques Prins / Kevin Battarbee / Egidijus Kasakaitis LOCATION Washington, USA DATE 2011 / 09 PHASE Competition TYPE Research / landscape design / architectural design PERSONAL CONTRIBUTION Research / concept design / representative drawings TASK Open ideas competition for future development of Washington Mall Grounds DESCRIPTION The plan fits into the time-line of a consistent vision on the center of Washington for the past two centuries. The McMillan plan of approximately a century ago laid the foundation of the current space. The intention is to avoid of interventions which distract from this vision. Make building possible on the locations proposed by McMillan, especially on the southeast side, so the central space becomes more defined. Avoid cluttering of buildings and institutions by concentrating on below ground interventions and by doing so keep the central space empty. Vegetation is used sparsely, as to not interfere with the vastness of the central space around the Monument. Only some additional planting to reinforce the symmetry of the east west axis. The singular identity of the obelisk must remain the main feature. The iconic presence of the obelisk can’t be compromised with by adding other structures.

HAMBURG KUNSTMEILE
CENTRAL STATION EXTENTION INSTITUTION TU Delft TUTORS Roberto Cavalli / LOCATION Hamburg, Germany DATE 2013 / 02 - 2013 / 06 PHASE Msc2 project TYPE Research / urban design / architectural design TASK Reviving the district of Hamburg central station DESCRIPTION The station area is mainly west side oriented towards the inner city. There is no spatial relationship between west and east side of the district, while cultural buildings are scattered within utilitarian area. Creating clear visual and physical access on the south side of the station clarifies an orientation within the station area. As well as filling in the gap, disconnecting the street, by pedestrian friendly conditions, which open up a possibility to provide a publicly accessible space for everybody. Firstly, the intervention begins by reducing traffic to two lanes and reserving it only for buses and taxes. Secondly, train station is opened up from east and south to ensure direct public access to the trains. Once it’s done retail and food services are provided indoors and outdoors within the newly designed square to satisfy the needs of an increased flow of people as well as to refund the investments. Thirdly, a redesigning of junctions is incorporated to handle the increased capacity of people. And lastly, free open air exhibition is introduced within the new square.

MARSEILLE CULTURAL CAPITAL MEDIATHEQUE INSTITUTION TU Delft TUTORS Sien van Dam LOCATION Marseille, France DATE 2012 / 09 - 2013 / 01 PHASE Msc1 project TYPE Research / landscape design / architectural design PERSONAL CONTRIBUTION Project leader TASK Address existing issues with architectural intervention as a medium combining old traditions of the city and handling responsibilities of cultural capital. DESCRIPTION Instead of using the stairs as medium, the concept is transformed to the creation of a public landscape which continuous through, around and over the building, creating a canvas for the people of Port Vieux, Panier and Marseille. The mediatheque becomes a place where people meet, interact, educate and express themselves. The building undergoes a transformation; after the period of Marseille as European Cultural Capital, the wooden structures will be disassembled and spread throughout Panier, giving the portals a new meaning in the public landscape. The main concept for the design for the Mediatheque is based on contrast between the timelessness of the fixed elements - which besides the main exhibition and the library consists out of a landscape of stairs and terraces through and around the building - and the transience character of the temporary program - the cinema and the temporary exhibition.

VANOORD HEADQUARTER’S INTERIOR COURTYARD INSTITUTION Inbo TEAM Tom Oudijk (project leader) / Egidijus Kasakaitis LOCATION Rotterdam, The Netherlands DATE 2011 / 07 PHASE Definitve design (completed) TYPE Landscape design / technical project PERSONAL CONTRIBUTION Making landscape design and technical drawings with management assistance by project leader TASK Making a design proposal for surrounding landscape of the building DESCRIPTION The company is widely known for old shipping and dredging traditions by making artificial landfills on the water such as Palm Island in Dubai. We were asked to come up with the proposal conveying their activities and philosophy. Therefore, the design of the ship deck and its detailing was chosen as a starting point for making the landscape design. As a result, wood was main material to create a deck like atmosphere in the courtyard. Diagonally intersected wood paving emphasizes foot paths connecting entrances to the building, while the space in between is used as an infill for vegetation and gravel to give more contrast and diversity to the courtyard.
